Over the years, you have opened my eyes to the BMW. I always considered them a dependable, utility motorcycle. But, the ones you present are beautiful and this RnineT is no exception! I also own a 2003 R1150R, which I’m currently customising.😉 I have gotten so so close to buying a R9T, but then the R18 came up, which I find to be a stunning bike! I bought that instead! No regrets but I obviously can see why people buy the R9T! Yes I am a boxer fan & no matter what the model, they are, as you said a chameleon....😎👍🏼

You’re so right in saying today’s BMW’s R9T along with all their other models are much more difficult in presenting a clean Cafe Racer look/appearance. It has to overcome much more then just the fuel tank and electronics in my view. I believe the main factor for this is the older bikes had a very clean and confined engine area inside their main alloy housing that showcased beautifully. Today’s BMW is far to busy looking with all its exposed mechanics much like all of today’s motorcycles. It’s heard on the eyes to visualize a clean and simple Cafe Racer when you’ve got all sorts of obstacles popping out at you. That is why some of the past R9T you’ve showed case had full side fairings hiding the busy engine components and concentrating on the cylinder heads which dominate the overall appeal of the bike. That is my thought. I wonder if others feel/see the same.

The pipes touching the seat keep catching my eye. Having a piece of metal attached to that area of the seat and scooped to match tie pipe working as a heat sink would be interesting.

It is clearly difficult to transform a modern motorcycle into a vintage looking machine. There are some aspects that cannot be hidden, but this example shows what patience and determination can produce. I have the same mini fairing on my 1975 Kawasaki Z1b 900. For me, it is the perfect Cafe' look. However, I do not like the look of the exhaust. They would look much better having been run along the bottom of the frame.
Beautiful bike! But will the seat hump upholstery get burned, or otherwise marred by the exhaust pipes? Heat shields on the pipes? Scallops on the lower edge of the seat?

Mmmm.. Not sure 🤔 I think it’s a bit confused.. Something needs taking away from the mix. Specifically I don’t like the exhaust as not sure what it brings to the party. Clearly there is a lot of effort but think the cake has too much fruit in it.

I have a question you or your followers can help with . What is the best helmet for a leaning forward stance on a cafe racer. My open face is best so far, but no chin protection , my shoei full face is a great helmet , but gives me a sore neck because vision angle is all wrong. Thanks in advance
Hi. Try to search on google for "retro vintage helmets", and I am sure you will find the right helmet for you. Personaly, I use a Bell Bullitt helmet, which i think it is one of the most beautiful retro vintage helmets on the market. The only problem, is the wind noise which is a bit uncomfortable. Unfortunately, things are more complicated than most people may think. I use this "robotic" voice created by software, because I'm Portuguese, and my bad English accent (and voice), can ruin the documentary character that I like for my videos. I already tried a real British voice in one of my videos, and, surprisingly, almost everyone hated it. Curiously, the robotic voice sounds realy very good for to non-English natives. :) Cheers.
Gemans seem to always loose the plot!! That car size engine takes this vehicle out of motorcycle category and puts it into new category of 'car on 2 wheels'. Sorry, it looks uglier than 50cc bicycle moped. I can attach two wheels to a turbofan or turbojet and strut around boasting of an awesome looking bike but that ugly thing wouldn't exactly be a motorcycle, would it? Only motorcycles available on this earth are Ducati, RE, Jawa, Triumph, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Norton and Honda. Only British and Japanese know the science + art of making motorcycles and it will be so for another 100 years. Harley is 1/4 a bike and actually a machine that converts fuel into sound!! BMW has it's own category: car engine on two wheels. But great video like always.
