This my favorite thing on this planet, seeing what Hyrule looks like without the great sea flooding it is something I've always thought about as a small kid. ❤
I just realised some things: 1. I doubt all of these towns and stuff would be on top of mountains pre flood, surely they were only built up there because of the flood. 2. I feel like there would be much more of a height difference between the lows and the mountain tops. In game when they're floating up it takes a looooong time.
@@StudioTanuki that's what it's called but under every video (including this one) and at the start of most videos he comments that it is pre flood. Read the reply to Garyjaffes comment or watch the video at 1:13.
There's a lot of things that would change with hyrule unflooded, for example, all of the docks and piers shouldn't be flush to the ground even if they're flush with the water's surface, because boats would need to dock right next to them, but I'm not gonna criticize that small detail.
I don't know anyone in real life who cares about Wind Waker as much as I do. I'm literally gonna throw a party once you're done. Happy to see you expressing your will to do your own thing with this project as well, obviously so much of the map is just unmapped "bottom of the ocean" which understandably leads to some creative interpretation. From everything that you've done so far, I think it's been more than faithful to the original map. Keep up the great work bro appreciate your dedication
Something I noticed very early into this video that I hadn't really thought about before is that a lot of how these islands look now must be due to water erosion, for instance, the area you are working on with the stairs at around 2:00, above it the rock juts out to hold up a building, I imagine this was not the case before the great flood, doesn't seem structurally sound, so maybe it would have made more sense to adjust that rock so instead of concaving under the structure, it bloomed out, more like a hill. Just food for thought in future perhaps.
Dude, you really are an unsung hero for this. This project is so vast, but your heart for it and commitment is so inspiring. Thank you for working so hard to get this done, it’s looking so incredibly already!
That project is so awesome!! 😍🤩 it looks so good! When I played that game around 20 years ago, I was so sad about the flooded Hyrule 🥺💔😭 I remember I wanted to see more of the land of Hyrule, when Link came down for the first time, and on the way to the tower of Ganondorf, I tried to leave the way to explore.
Hey man, you are making your way through such fun and interesting project! Have a great time making this reimagined Hyrule, and I hope you manage to create the version of it that you think fits best.
the more of this project is made the mroe excited i am to see the final result! this was always an idea to try in the back of my mind but im terrible at blender
A huge bravo already! It's always a pleasure to see you continue with this crazy project. I was wondering, once you've made the textures, will it be easy to turn them into colisions to travel this world with Link?
the way i see the maps of hyrule is that until a place has a lore significant role its location shifts about between games, but once it has that significance its location becomes more anchored in the records of hyrule's history.
I am thinking about this project, and it's timelines moving forward into the future. can you talk about how you envision this world as you create it in terms of timeline? For example, did all the water dissapear one night, and now we see the next day? Or did the water gradually recede, over the course of days, weeks, years? is this maybe right after the unflooding, and later on you will add other buildings at lower elevations, to show expansion years into the future? great project I love it.
He says in every video that this is what he imagines it was like before the flood. It's certainly not after the flood as all of Hyrule is destroyed die to the wish on the triforce in game.
I like to think that the distances shown in wind waker are much closer to their canonical distance in ocarina of time. Windfall to death mountain's peak takes about a day or so in OOT. so it makes sense to be about 2 sections away in WW.
I was thinking about the sages and music. The bongo bongo boss being tied to Sheik, the guitar or shakers being tied to Nabooru, The harp with Laruto, Fiddle with Fado, and uncertain what a goron should have, given they had Drums in Termina but not Hyrule. Maybe a bass since they are deep voiced creatures. Then Ganondorf playing a piano and Link and the Hyrule royal family respectively playing an ocarina.
@@windwakerhyrule could you do something akin to the forgotten temple breath of the wild or sealed temple/sealed grounds from skyward sword? Something with that massive goddess statue
Hey, one thing I've been curious about since I've been loosely following this series is why not enable correct face attributes (if you do mb for not noticing if you do) I would think It would help. Unless it's specific for tiling.
@@windwakerhyrule pretty much adjusts the UVs similarly to the operation that you're currently performing. For example, if you extrude, the UVs will be adjusted while extruding to allow tiling to extend with the extrusion operation; the same goes for other transformations. If you wanna mess with it, it can be found in the options tab in the top right while in edit mode on an object. I find it super nice for objects that need to be tiled.
ive always been confused about where the temple of time could be. as an example, in oot, its located right next to castle town, but in tp, its located in the lost woods. so do you think that there could have been multiple temple(s) of time(s) built? and are you planning on implementing the 2-4 different temples into the project?
Windfall mountain's looking pretty nice, but I think it'd be even nicer if you put some pine trees and bushes down, like the ones present on the actual Windfall Map. I think having a gate at the start of the path on the bottom of the mountain could also be nice. Similar to the one present at the entrances to Kakariko VIllage in Breath of the Wild. Buuuut that's just my 5 cents. Absolutely love this project and I think all your hard work has been incredible to follow.
Haven’t been keeping up to date for a while but I HAD to watch this one. I like the new intro. Regarding Geographic scaling, I like to think Wind Waker is the most accurate to the scale of the region of Hyrule because Ocarina of Time and most Zeldas are limited to a compressed map size because of hardware but Wind Waker was the first to make a huge, realistically scaled world because it was all water.
it will not be purchaseable - this project is completely nonprofit and i wont be selling anything. the videos aren’t monetized either - i don’t make a cent from this project. i am hoping to share the map with the community though
This genuinely looks gorgeous. I do wonder, when the project's done, do you think it'd be possible to like, using a GC emulator, to walk those lands? :o If not, it'd be amazing to have videos about a tour of the worldmap!
😅 i know this is probably silly but Are you gonna add the DS island or the gamecube island Don't forget that Phantom Hourglass and spirit tracks are part of the same universe ❤
There is quite a bit of hype with the idea of all zelda games belonging to one big story buildign up a huge amount of lore. But at times I think that's a bit too creatively stifling, and the games do better with being seperate retellings of the same kind of story. Though I still every nbow and then greatly enjoy people collecting evidence for their theories. One thought with regards to your map that crossed my mind: if this is before the flooding, that very likely many if not almost all mountaintop structures will likely not have been built, since people didn't have to to flee to the mountaintops yet and therefore had far less business up there.
I think that's generally true, but there are also reasons why some mountaintops would already be developed - like for fortifications in times of war or for defense against monsters.
This my favorite thing on this planet, seeing what Hyrule looks like without the great sea flooding it is something I've always thought about as a small kid. ❤

They absolutely would if they were castle like and fortified, which windfall absolutely is
