- There are a few Nintendo games that openly mock the player (either directly or through the player's character). Let's take a look at these instances.

For clarification, I included scenes where the player does not get insulted directly if the player's actions are insulted instead. For example, from an in-universe perspective, Cranky Kong technically roasts DK in those scenes but from the player's perspective, he is roasting things that are in the player's control (like not having enough Banana Coins).
The Cranky example was just the tip of the iceburg; you should’ve seen how much roasting he has done back then; like his close-mindedness towards modern game design.
I believe in Pokemon sun and moon or Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, one of the characters asks you if you heard about something without telling you what that something is. However, the first option is yes, which will prompt him to tell you that he hasn't even told you what the something is yet

I think wario is actually saying "I hate you" towards the person that beaten him in the race, not the player

I have a history of reading the things that Cranky Kong has been ranting about, and I always bust my gut from laughing so hard at those.
Cranky Kong was one of my favorite things about DKCR.
I bought a big golden key for an alternate level and what did that grouch say to me?
"Oh sure, take the easy way out."

you thought cranky was in his prime in DK '94? you ain't seen nothing.
In Nintendo canon, Cranky is actually an elderly version of the original "Donkey Kong" featured in the arcade games (with the current tie-wearing version being either a grown-up DK Jr. or DK Jr.'s son). Thus in a sense he's ALWAYS been savage one way or another!
In DK 64, if you didn't do all the barrels cranky said "you're stupid ape"

Fun fact: In Star Fox 64 (The original game), if you shot Falco a first time, he calls Fox "Einstein" and I think it’s pretty funny to see a reference to Albert Einstein in a 25 years old Nintendo game.

Star Fox 64 having the attention to detail with the shooting your teammates is actually funny. They didn't have to add those quips, they could've just made it friendly fire where the bullets go through them unharmed, but here, they let you know that it's a problem.
brink does the same thing as when you shoot a team mate they sometimes say "Do i look like the enemy" and "i'm not the enemy" though lol i have been shot by my own team mates too as ill sometimes just see my screen shake from my team mates shooting me from behind lol
It's ironic how shooting Wolf makes him say something nicer to you than your teammates when you shoot them
I knew Cranky took a beating from Mario, but I didn't expect that to make him bitter toward his own grandson.

My personal Favorite comes from Fire Emblem for the GBA. At the end of the game you get an epilogue telling you what happens to each of the characters saying what happens to them afterwards. There's one for the player, the tactician, that changes depending on your in game ranking based on how well you played. If you get the lowest rank, it reads:
Suspect Mind - "To this day, historians look back and question how these incomprehensible strategies ever led to victory."

Dude Cranky is the OG sass master for me. This guy insults EVERYONE that isn't/wasn't his wife. I remember experiencing him in DK64 and I remember him just insulting Chucky big time about wanting him to use his invisibility powers as often as he could so he wouldn't have to see his face. Cranky is such a savage lol

I don't know whether or not this counts, but there's a hidden cheat code in Wave Race: Blue Storm that changes Ryota's announcer so he makes disparaging comments every chance he gets.
It changes the announcer entirely, not just for Ryota. Amusingly, two years later they brought back that announcer in 1080 Avalanche, this time as the voice of secret character Frosty Winterball, complete with the Blue Storm line "You have chosen poorly."
Wait, I thought at 10,000,000 VS. matches won it would say “Stop hacking the game if you are”
Edit: I had no idea I would get 189 LIKES
If they somehow get 100,000,000 VS. matches, then the messages will say “Get a life!”

1:42 Let's face it, a good chunk of the characters in the game are a-holes to the player in Fortune Street, although there are some characters that are actually amicable to the player to a degree, so it balances itself out.
You should have mentioned the first Animal Crossing. The villagers were so rude and unpleasant in the first game.
Is also interesting to note that this is only the case of the the various localizations, as they are not rude in the Japanese version.
Don't forget how in New Leaf, Ankha was specifically programmed to occasionally call you a peasant.
It figures, everything has to suit the US and nowhere else. They were probably like, "Americans hate friendly polite characters,they only only like characters who are really rude and obnoxious. But no one cares about us Canadians, so I had to take everything unpleasant the animals said in one ear and out the other (something we should all do in real life, actually).
I have another theory, though: the animals were really rude in the first game because they weren't happy having Tortimer for a mayor. In New Leaf the first player accidentally becomes the new mayor, so the animals become a lot nicer. And in New Horizons there's no mayor in the village at all. Or maybe Isabelle is the new mayor, I'm not sure.

The Hey Einstein thing became a bit of a running joke in the Runaway Guys' playthrough of Starfox. It got its own videos on the meme

It was until this day that I appreciate smash melee more than I ever thought I would, as it’s WAY ahead of its time telling players to go outside, and touch grass when you get 100K vs. bout wins.
Telling someone to go outside for playing too much videogames has always been a thing since the NES SNES and N64 before parents adults and nongamers realized that they can throw hate on somebody's gaming hobby.

I thought he would say that when Fox rescues him. But like fallen allies don’t come back in the first game, Falco’s safety is Fox’s business too. He’s his leader, after all.

I wanna point out that Don's use of "quieres" specifically when saying "que pasa, quieres mas?" is highly informal in Spanish and is actually a sign that he sees Mac less as an opponent and more like a kid or someone lesser than himself.

I played donkey kong country returns, and I never noticed cranky kong’s insults! I guess I really can be oblivious sometimes
Pokémon Stadium 2 is the reason why I hate some gym leaders. Not only is it the most rigged game ever, but if you lose, your opponents always have to say something excessive. Claire says things like “You disappoint me” or “I will never understand how you got this far.” It makes me want to just punch the tv and break it.

Yea! It shows that even though they’re really different, Fox and his team are like… a family. They sometimes argue, but they’re close to each other and would always save each other when needed. Falco himself sees the Team Star Fox as his family, which explains why he’s the only member without any known relatives (not including Fay, Miyu, Krystal and Pigma, of course.).
The melee part sounds like they call players an over achiever.

I always hated the Duck Hunt Dog whenever he laughed at me I aimed the gun remote right at him and repeatedly squeezed the trigger even though I couldn't really shoot him
You can only legit shoot him in the arcade version of Duck Hunt - and even then you can only do it to end a bonus round early. :/
