Wow. I have never seen a school of wsb. The best bet for them is fly line with fresh frozen squids or anchovy. I caught one with fly line frozen anchovy.
In socal the schools are so big every person on a charter boat are hooked up at the same time and the bite lasts until the boat is limited out and you are also catching black sea bass at the same time and they get huge but you cant keep black sea bass last time I went the white sea bass went from 25 to 50lbs ...
Live anchovies for those WSB in that area is what woulda worked! There arent really squid spawns out of the gate but the commercial halibut fishermen seem to catch them on the bar every year. Pretty sure we hooked one on live anchovies on the bar last year. Ran hard horizontally like they normally do. A month and a half later I caught a 70lber.
I have been watching most of your videos. I am wondering why you keep the boat moving when you have fish on. Over here in Washington, almost everyone stops the boat when we have a fish on.
Hi Joey, I keep it going to keep tension on the line and it helps control the fish. When I started I would stop and the fish would go under and to the other side, even to the front of the boat. This way the fish stays behind me and I can turn the boat to keep it on the side I want. More likely to tangle your other lines too if you had some in.
channel islands is were WSB are caught every season by the thousands all the charters use live squid. You should go out of ventura on a charter some day the channel islands are amazing ...
@@ChrisPfish2 I wonder how we could catch live squid .They are hear know I see them in the fish I catch salmon, rock cod and even halibut when caught in the ocean ....

If you are ever looking for someone to fill a seat, I have gas money, bait, munchies, and my own gear. No need to go solo!! Live in Sausalito. Awesome videos!!
Love the video White Sea bass are normally caught with squid I have done trips in the San Fran area with anchovies and sardines what’s more important is you can try a dropper loop set up but locate them on the fish finder or the environment they are in drop to the bottom and wait if they are there they will hit current weather also. They normally look like a white ball a shadow on the fish finder. I never caught one mooching or trolling they are lazy fish.
I would love to come do that with you have you ever thought about opening a charter service. If you came out here to Virginia Beach I would take you tuna fishing in a 20 footer center consel. I'm getting ready to put a brand new engine on it.
I do think about getting my captains license, need that before I can start a charter service. Was just looking at google maps, that beach is so long, looks nice. Do you travel like 80 miles out to the canyon edge? Sounds like a lot of fun
WOW! awesome unique video . With all the anchovies the WSB likely went on a wild dawn feeding frenzy and were just stuffed full.. Best chance is getting on the water early early and setting a cut of time to get your daily Salmon limit. If your have the time Twilight bite also works but running the bay at night is not for everyone.
I do love that reel, its a shimano trinidad 16a. it has the "star" drag, the other commenter suggests a Avet. Those are probably the most popular but I dont like the "level" drag. So the drag system is different on either reel. I like star and dont like level but I feel I am in the minority on that. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment
That’s really cool seeing those White Sea Bass out there would of been awesome to see you catch one but it was still awesome seeing you catch those salmon, good job on limits also on the opener where do you think your going to go I think I’m going to Duxbury or shipping channel because Bodegas weather looks alittle sporty
I think I am going to go to Monterey Bay for opener. It was real good last April, seems like best weather for this weekend, and oh I got invited on a boat :)
What’s up Chris. This is Isaac I met you at half Moon Bay with the Grady white 226. What kind of underwater camera do you use? How did you guys do on salmon the other day? We made limits on our way back home. Get em. Good luck
Hey Chris I watch your videos a lot for tips and tricks!! I see you go by yourself to fish sometimes, I’m always free to go In need of a fishing partner. Also from the bau
Love your videos, had a quick question. Do you know if they have dredged the boat launch area behind Encinal high school in Alameda at the Rockwall? I saw you launch there in another video. Really appreciate any info you have on the water depth there for launching. Keep up the great content. Thanks
Hey brother ocean base not the best but it fishes use it for steelhead all the time if you can and have time take a pair of scissors cut that bloodline through the metal wrap it up and paper towels put it in a bag on ice
Woah never seen so many white bass like that before. That gives me hope to catch one someday. I heard a two kayakers caught two right next to Oyster point and hunters point last year. Been wanting to go on a party boat down south for white Seabass but haven’t got a chance to. It was great seeing you last week at the Berkeley launch parking. It’s an honor man . Hope you and Jun did good last Saturday there were only a few boats about 100+ lol . Got two in the first 30 mins right next to the sailboat and the Rockwall.
hey whats up. you and me both brother, maybe one day it will be our turn to hook up into a wsb. Last Saturday was crazy. We caught so many fish from 7-11am but only managed one keeper. I mean 15+ shakers, then the bite turned off for us and wind picked up so we went in. Thanks for watching
I was using 12 pounds last year. I have 14 pounds this year from a company called 4-fins I am excited to try them out. It all comes down to how deep you want to go. Early season the fish are in 200-400 ft of water and if your dropping 150ft you need more weight so your line stays below the boat, the 4-fins are designed to turn and stay below the boat. If you going 40ft down in September you could get away with 10 pound. I would recommend 12-15 pounds.
In monterey bay when the squid are the white sea bass are also feeding. I have tried 2 times for them. I saw a guys catch a 50lb sea bass and huge 65bl sea bass. The local guys tell me they are 90lb white sea bass swimming in the bay. White sea bass love squid as bait.
Great timing on the video Chris. With the salmon opener coming up. I was curious to why you prefer the anchovies 4.5 to 5 inches over the bigger tray size? Is it the action of the smaller bait? The underwater footage was awesome.
I like the smaller bait because it has a better presentation in my opinion in the krippled anchovy head. Thanks for watching, happy you enjoyed the footage.
Nice catches! Throw in some Pro Cure (with color) in that zip lock with the roe. If you don't like going solo; just contact me anytime. It would be a privilege to fish with you on the best rigged sport boat in the area.
I live here in Sacramento. I'll tell u, if you're going to use the roe to catch more salmon, or if you're on steelhead, pro-cure is an amazing product. If you're like me, keep the roe raw, intact with the membrane for sturgeon. Dino candy..
@@adampierce2358 I never make it up sacramento river enough to use the roe, fish metro and below and use lures. Yeah I keep the roe raw, just how it is for the dino's. Thanks for watching
Hey Chris. Just wanted to let you know that there's a ton of sturgeon here in metro Sacramento area right now. Seen some caught and I saw a 200+lb sturgeon breach, it was awesome! Just giving you the heads up, I've been yanking some fish myself, muddy water stripers mainly, lots of sea lions on em!! Tight lines bro
WSB are usually caught on squid (live or fresh dead). That said, I've caught them on fin bait before, but it was larger bait than what you're trolling. They will also eat swim baits and iron. You may get one someday doing what you're doing though. Fun to see.
Not my fishery but it seems the presentation was a lil too fast for there liking. If only you had known they were there. They are trophy fish for sure. Wish we had em up here in the true nor cal area
Yeah I agree, too fast for them. Next September (if gas is cheaper) I am going to go looking for them now that I know we can get big schools of them out the golden gate. Thanks for watching
Chris great videos tanks

yes i leave it up while towing

Dang that's a big school.
man I know
What time of day did u seem to hook into more halibut
Anchor up on the SE corner of angel island in sept oct with live anchovies you will see guide boats you will catch them with right bait presentation
Dang it I need to get up there. Also need to get you a couple Sabiki rods. Great footage.

If you don’t mind me asking where did you film that school Seabass
Let’s be real, he saved this video so he can air it before the actual salmon opener. Wants to make people believe he’s doing it illegally.
Lets be real, you were hoping to hate on me for fishing illegally, realized everything was okay but still felt the need to anyways.
Nice footage! I hooked in to a big white seabass years ago by using a live anchovy free spooling of the boat maybe try that! 😁🐟 👍
that is awesome! Gonna have to give that a try. Thanks for watching
I’d never caught a ghost either Chris. Btw with gas prices so high you want subscribers tagging along and helping along with gas? 😅
lol good point! Maybe this year we get a WSB! Thanks for watching
