Petula Clark was the one who had the definitive career that is still going strong at a Unmatchable 91 years young.
From child Star of radio and movies to chart hits all over Europe (France, Italy,Germany and Spain.)
Petula Clark is a Worldwide Mega-Star with outstanding hits in both the British Charts and then WOW!!!! America.
The Americans instantly took Petula to their hearts.
Upon hearing the musical masterpiece that is Downton the USA went Petula Clark Crazy.
Petula Clark got a truly amazing FIFTHTEEN consecutive Top One Hundred Chart hits after Downtown with the musical genius of both Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent songs and Petula's Unique way of singing them .
      (I Couldn't Live Without Your Love,I Know A Place,The Other Man's Grass Is Always Greener,Colour My World,Who Am I,Sign Of The Times,My Love ect.)
Petula Clark played on The World's biggest stages including Cesus Palace, Broadway, London and France.
After being a Child Star appearing in films and the radio Petula Clark became a Movie Star for the second time as she appeared with Hollywood Legend Fred Astaire in Finnian's Rainbow followed by Goodbye Mister Chips with Peter O'Toole.
Afterwards Petula branched out into Musical Theatre.
Appearing in Mega Musicals such as The Sound Of Music then with American Superstar David Cassidy in Blood Brothers to sell out audiences every time
Next came Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard where Petula had standing applause every show.
Finally Petula appeared in Mary Poppins The Musicial in London's West End.
Quite a CV don't you think?
One that is extremely unlikely ever to be matched.
❤Well Done to Petula Clark OBE for all the happiness and joy that you have brought myself and all of your fans Worldwide.

Very much so. To a lot of people's dismay, somewhere down the road, a performers ability to do something special, that not too many other people could do, lost it's validity. Change had to come. It was inevitable. Suspect, if you look all the way down at the bottom of reasons why this had to happen, you would find one word, and that is GREED.

I grew up in the 60's and 70's...
Every time I watch these old clips from that era, I get so nostalgic and heartsick for the less complicated and much more innocent times back then!
I wish I had a time machine to take me back!!!

In the 70's we had singers like Jennifer Rush that came along and in the 80's the incomparable Sissel. But in the 60's? Judith owned it on the female side.

Great talent will always be rediscovered by future generations. Wait until they discover the magic of Bassey and Streisand and all those who amazing talents that have brought us to today. Makes me want to see what the next great generation will discover and who will bring us the new standards.
