    @simonschmitz6719 Рік тому +2

    @9:30 i think implicit bias of the referees and judges is a huge issue in competitive judo.
    the referees in judo are of outstanding importance, compared to other sports. it is incredibly hard to be a referee on that competitive level in modern judo. not only do they have to judge if someone scored within a second, but they also are expected to guardthe cultural and philosophical expression of judo, which is usually done (or not) by penalties. when it comes to the decision between an ippon or a waza-ari, the referees understanding of "good judo" plays a key role. i honestly think it is one of the hardest sports to be a referee in.

    • @aspenrebel
      @aspenrebel Рік тому +1

      True, One of the hardest sports to be a referee. Things happen in a fraction of a second, so the referee has to be able to see it, know it, make a decision and a call. Is it an ippon or not, a penalty or not.

    • @aspenrebel
      @aspenrebel Рік тому

      Where is the "hane", as well as the "makikomi"? Id go with "koshi Guruma"

    • @ivarblankenspoor2553
      @ivarblankenspoor2553 Рік тому

      After reviewing the throw again I can see why you think it might be a koshi-guruma. However I think the grip is wrong for it to be called koshi-guruma. "Makikomi" means wraparound and I guess you're right that it isn't "hane" which means feather or winged. I'm going to correct myself and say this is "soto-makikomi" or "outer wraparound". The kodokan judo channel on youtube has a great demonstration of the throw and I think this throw most resembles it.
      Soto-makikomi:
