    I have both. I now known my flat feet are so happy in these shoes. I have a black men's GT 2000 9 (2E extra wide) and a women's GT 1000 10 (normal width). I love walking or cycling in them. I don't run anymore.
    I was so happy when I could finally get a 2E version in Australia because my feet are so wide, they would always blow out the side of the shoe over time.
    In a post COVID world, I wear either one of these on an every day basis at work as a teacher. Both do a good job. I wear the black ones when I'm teaching laboratory skills or have a risk of getting dirty. My GT 1000 were bought purely because they came in a pretty limited edition colour. I wear them when I'm wearing colourful clothes or when I don't have to worry about them getting dirty. I do notice that they are a little stiffer but not something that worries me. I like both to work out in. I do HIIT, spin and weights in either. I prefer the GT 2000 overall in terms of fit because they are the right width for me.

      Eleanor! Glad to see a fellow teacher here on the page, I teach Science as well. I am glad to hear you have been such a fan of the GTs. I am normally a KAYANO kind of guy and am still rocking with my 25's and 26's. However, with school returning back to in class soon, maybe now will be the perfect time to give the new GT-2000's a try! I too also use these primarily more for walking or exercise over running. @@kickinit7018 I just realised, I have the 4E width, not the 2E in the men's GT 2000.
      Also, I get the GTs because I also have a tendency to roll my ankle in an outwards motion on top of having flat feet and wear orthotics. I need the stability provided by the GTs. I don't remember if the Kayanos are neutral or are designed for a supination or pronation, but it is why I wear the GTs.

      @@eleanorchan872 The Kayano's are built very similarly to the GT's just a different feel more so! I've tried a couple of GTs in the past and was a huge fan of the cushioning, it was always so soft. Glad to see somebody taking advantage of the wide widths! I remember when I worked in retail many people being so thankful that Asics actually sold the same shoe simply in a wider width as they would check store after store and couldn't find something!

    Your enthusiasm got me! I've subscribed! I'm a newbie, inconsistent runner, trying to get it together this year. Brooks Glycerin were my first and I'm currently loving the pillowyness of the Saucony ISO 2 (love love love). I tried on a pair of Asics Noosa some time ago (purely for the aesthetics) and loved the fit, but did not purchase because someone recommended the Nimbus and then the GT-1000 and then the 2000... sooo... was super confused until I came upon your videos! Thank you for the support Sinclair! With all the time off this is the perfect year to do it. Glad to hear that the Brooks and Saucony have worked well, I have been meaning to give a pair of Saucony's a shot. Maybe I'll give the ISO a try one of these days! Tell me about it, I do not have a pair of the Noosa's because the Gel-Kayano works so well for me (basically a souped up GT-2000), but I want one so bad because the new colours on the Noosa TRI-12 are amazing. Thanks for the review. I just bought the gt-2000 yesterday and after a 15K training I found its stability truly amazing. I felt the insole is harder than my old wave rider 20 (I've been a rider fan over ten years) while trying on in store, quite worried at first. The shoes keeps my foot moving forward, easy to speed up. Now I get more interested in Asics. Mizuno now comes with a lot of series with tongue stitched, which make me feel uncomfortable with my high instep. Fortunately Asics keeps it separated. I'm nearly flatfoot, do u think the gt-1000 is adequate for the 15~18K road training? Or any Asics series model recommended?
    Thank you~

      Hello my friend, the GT-1000 will be suitable to provide the support you need. However, it will not have the gel-cushioning that you might need for that distance. It depends on you, I know me personally I could not do that distance without the comfort of more gel, and that is what you get with the GT-2000 over the GT-1000. I preferably ALWAYS go with the Gel-Kayano, it is a fantastic shoe. The midsole is stiffer than the GT-2000 but the structural support is sensational. I would say stick GT-2000 or get one of last years models of the Kayano on a discount, they don't change much from year to year besides fit!

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  3 роки тому

      Hello Kimberly, this shoe is built more so for people who overpronate. So technically speaking it is not built for people whose arches roll outwards (Supination) but more so whose arches roll in (Pronation). However, this does not mean it is necessarily bad for you. Although it may not be correcting your Supination issue, because it is built for overpronaters it has a lot of extra support built in, which is beneficial for you! How has it felt over the last several years, has it worked?

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  2 роки тому

      @@RajeshGupta-hs1nx Hey Rajeh, specifically the GT-1000 is not built as premium as the Kayano. What that means is that it lacks in many of the aspects the Kayano has, the big one being cushioning. The Kayano has a very plush forefoot and great cushion in the heel, whereas a GT-1000 because it is an entry model it will have a lot less of that oh so glorious gel-cushioning. As a result, it tends to not be as comfortable. However, that does not mean it is a bad shoe, I have had people try on the GT-1000 and like it over the Gel-Kayano simply because how it gripped their foot type and shape better. So many of these things can be subjective if you know what I am saying.

I am GT 1000 8 user, last year when i bought it i tried both 1000 & 2000 and i found 1000 was fiting to my foot and was more comfortable in terms of sizing. Whereas 2000 was more broad and foot was not fitting in properly. I am not saying the fitting should be tight but there should just right amount of breathing/expansion space for your foot. And in gt 2000 i found the space was either way more adequate for my size or if downsized it was way to less. No wonder why 1000 is mostly out of stock in india

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  3 роки тому

      Hmmm Marek, that is a tough one. The GT-2000 is an excellent shoe. The GT-1000 will not necessarily fit your foot better. It could, but you need to try it on in person in order to see (which you may not be able to depending on the area you live and COVID)! At the same time, I do not think the GT-1000 will provide as much responsiveness as the GT-2000. It may be similar or just a bit short, if you are looking for more responsiveness I would go with the Gel-Kayano! It is the shoe I use as a pronator and has been my go to Asics for years. I currently own the 23, 24, 25 and 26's! Let me know if you have any questions about it!

      @@marekstepien5450 Sure my friend. The GT-1000 would be a good beginner pronator, but it is not necessarily light. If you are looking to use it for a competition, and want it to be on the lighter side - The Gel-Noosa Tri would be amazing. Be aware though, Asics overpronation support is called "Duomax". Asics use to regularly have Duomax in the Gel-Noosa Tri, then they took it away, then they brought it back, and then this year they have taken it away again. Hence, the Gel-Noosa Tri 13 from this year does not have Duomax. However, on their website they still have many last year models of the Gel- Noosa Tri 12, which did have that Duomax overpronation support. This would be super lightweight! Hey Christopher! Glad to see a fellow teacher in the comments my friend! Offfff that is a tough one. I actually prefer the Gel-Kayano's for physical activity, me personally. I have owned the 23, 24, 25 and 26's and they have always done me well. However, I think the GT-2000 might be a bit better for work in the sense that they have a softer mid sole. The Gel-Kayano is typically stiffer in the mid sole, the GT-2000 is a bit more forgiving here and is just as if not more comfortable FOR LESS MONEY. I notice that the Kayano's with that stiff midsole can have your feet hurting if you are standing in one place or just doing general pacing around here and there. So if you are on your feet all day, particularly not moving or doing anything to physically active just regular walking around the classroom, I think the GT-2000's would be perfect. MY ONE EXCEPETION TO THIS ADVICE: If you are a Phys-Ed teacher (which I would be very jealous of haha), than I would stick with the Kayano's as you already know these always pull through for you when walking or running. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions:)

      Hey Himashu, I am excited to hear about your Infinity Jin. It looks beautiful! This shoe is a performance runner and can be used primarily for running activities. It is actually based/inspired from a previously beloved Asics runner known as the "Gel-Kinsei" which they discontinued (I don't know why it was excellent).
      Asics usually doesn't recommend you use running shoes like this for the gym (i.e. weightlifting, lateral movements etc) as they do not have lateral support in them. They would prefer you buy low to the ground Asics gym specific shoes. However, if I am being honest, I very often use my Asics runners while working out in the gym and find them more than fine!

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  3 роки тому +3

      Hey Subhasish, There is not going to be much of a difference in comfort or durability between the GT-2000 7 and GT-2000 8. This is because since these are the same model shoe, just different year, Asics does not want to change it too much as many people want to get the same shoe again each year. The one thing that they do change is fit though, so one might be more comfortable simply because it fits better. However, if we are talking about the cushioning in the shoe they will simply be the same between the 2000-7 and 2000-8. As for the 1000 vs either the GT-2000 7 or GT-2000 8, I would go with either of the 2000's. These shoes are built with a bit more structural support than the GT-1000. Since there is more support, this means that it will take longer to break that support down, therefore lasting you longer and being a more durable shoe! Hope that helped, if you have any other questions let me know 🙏

    Used GT-1000 6 for 1,750km. Great shoe, even on packed snow/ice as well as in our 45C summer heat (southern Turkey). Only issue is that it's tough on the knees as pretty hard. Considering Hoka's Arahi 5 for the cushioning (with stability) as at 55 the knees complain a bit once over 20k, but they are around 45% more than the GT-2000, so maybe next year. Can only order online here, and with wide feet, I usually go for size EU 45 for a run shoe whereas I'm 43-44 in a normal shoe. The additional comfort of the GT-2000 sounds promising, although unsure if narrower fit may be an issue. The Arahi sounds ideal, but a lot more cash I don't really have. Run approx. 50km/week at half-Ironman level. Any thoughts sir?

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Ali! Glad to see you staying so physically active! I personally have never worn the Hoka Arahi 5, so I cannot speak to that. However, I have worn the GT-2000 and it will definitely be a step up cushioning wise compared to the GT-1000 and will be much better for the knees. Now the problem is, I am not too sure how the latest GT-2000 fits. Every year, Asics plays around with their sizing for each model. For example, I am a long time fan of the Gel-Kayano for stability. The Gel-Kayano 23 was made so narrow, and then the next year the Gel-Kayano 24 had a much wider toe box.
      What I would recommend is this. Asics here in Toronto offers free returns on online orders. I would check that first, because if they have free returns over there you can simply order the GT-2000 try it on and if it doesn't work send it back free of charge. MORE IMPORTANTLY, this is my best recommendation. If you go to an Asics website, or many other running websites, they often have a section called "Extended Widths". When you click on this what you will find is the same GT-2000 you were going to order in 2E or 4E. 2E means double the width of the original model and 4E means quadruple the width of the original model. This way you can still enjoy the GT-2000 while finding a width that fits well with your feet. Let me know what you think!

    • @marathoner_Ali
      @marathoner_Ali 2 роки тому +1

      Yep, free returns here too unless used outdoors or labels removed. Got a 10m balcony I can go up/down for 10 mins to check it out :) We don't get width variations here, only with Mizuno and Hoka, and rarely are there more than 2-3 stability shoes here to choose from (no websites even use that filter type, lol). Anyway, I'll see what I can find. There are no models in my size in-country anyway (also usual). Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. For now it's the Contend-6 with an insole.

      Yes if you can still find them 2000-6 Trail Runnes are a great shoe...i live near a 100 acre Park that has a pine trail... Your Kayano are more money so 2000 may be a downgrade... Ive done 8 years in them. Like 2 pairs a year...
      So yea..tbeir good and its Sole & shoe on no concrete runs last 6 months for me..
      I do only 20 mi a week..
      Their newer 2000-9 are nice...a little softer but still has stability glide Guard... Negative is they take long time to Dry... Like double length of the 2000-6.
      For Stabilty
      Asics wins in my opinion
      Nike. Saucony..not as good

However, if I swing by Asics and they feel absolutely incredible I will definitely pick them up then. I shall keep you posted if things change. You read my mind my friend! I am actually going to be putting out a video on this very soon! Honestly though, the short answer is there is very minimal difference between the two. Both offer a high level of support and excellent cushion, they are more so different simply in fit. The GT-2000 typically has less stiff of a midsole too. It also comes at a cheaper price tag! :) Let me know if you have any other questions.

    • @kickinit7018
      @kickinit7018  2 роки тому

      Hey Arindam! It depends more so on your personal preferences. Nike shoes will be more minimal, which makes them lighter weight and that is a fantastic feeling. At the same time though, Nike shoes typically won't have as much cushion or specifically support as these Asics shoes do. This allows the Asics to feel very nice and comfy but just a tad bit heavier. If you appreciate cushion and support, go Asics. If you want something more lightweight and minimal, go Nike. Let me know if you have any other questions :)

      @@arindamchatterjee8522 If you are having pain in your knees, I would go for an Asics shoe that has a lot of support. The cushion and support is going to help take the pressure off your knees.
