This is probably my personal favorite Star Wars movie. Even though it is fictional, I feel it really catches the realism of war on how easy it is for brave heroes with their own story to just become another number lost in history.

I just realised that's another thing I liked about this film. Star Wars games and films don't have to be all about the Force and the Jedi. In this film they don't take centre stage, and it's all the better for it.

This is the best Star Wars movie.
It has the plot of the originals. The action of the prequels. The visuals and edits of the sequels. It gives the characters meaning and makes them relate to the audience. It has humor. It makes sense. It’s Star Wars. It’s Just so good
Sorry, it's good but not the best. It stayed safe and didn't take risks to stand on its own. The best is Empire, there's a lot that the audience was floored by and the bittersweet ending that came out of nowhere. Sorry, your wrong

This was the only new starwars movie where i could literally feel the fear and the hopelessness to bottom of my spine at the appearance of an antagonist. When Vader arrived in the rebel ship, his breath and then the sound of the red light saber and him killing all the helpless rebel soldiers! It was just amazing, they really were able to capture why Lord Vader was called LORD afterall and why was he so feared even among the most powerful of characters, including the EMPEROR HIMSELF.
This is one of the many things that i feel all other movies in the new trilogy failed to portray.

He is feared because without touching you he can destroy you. His lightsaber actions are to show his superior tantalizing skills, not to kill....he leaves killing to storm troopers...

they tried to do too much in the sequels. in rogue one they have a single mission, not a ton of characters, just enough SCARY aliens and stormtroopers, WAR (like in the name), and you know exactly what is going on at every moment with spot on editing and dialogue. its exquisite in every way

Same man. Whenever I watch the sequels they just don’t feel right. They don’t feel like Star Wars. Just bad fan fiction. They ain’t canon to me. I also really enjoyed solo but nothing too special just fun. The Mandalorian captures the OT vibe really well.

After watching Rise of Skywalker on opening night, I immediately watched Rogue One again (since ROS was all over the place and felt underwhelming) and it’s amazing how Rogue One beats out every other Star Wars film made after Episodes 4-6. I’m glad these trailers were amazing to watch and too bad some of the trailer footage didn’t make it to the film, but it was one of the best Star Wars films ever made.

I've seen a LOT of comments saying this is a new or fourth Death Star. To clear this up, It's the FIRST Death Star. This is between episode 3 and new hope during the construction of the first Death Star. This story is about the rebels who stole the plans in the original Star Wars.

The music for this trailer is what gets me the most. The huge Imperial March dominating everything with the Rebellion theme layered beneath it and struggling to get out from under it. Beautiful job.

Just watched the movie. Is it confirmed that anyone in the Rogue One squad (including Cassians men) survived? I mean, although no head characters from the squad survived, maybe at least one or two soldiers made it? It seems impossible though since they blew up the entire place shortly after, so the chances of anyone getting out of there alive are low.
If no one survived, I like it. It's a whole new dimension in a Star Wars film. Usually at least 2 people survive in the end, but in this movie, everyone died but they completed their mission. It makes the movie refreshing in a way. And that's what I felt about this film. They really managed to make it into a "free" film from the others. Doesn't follow the same pattern the others do, doesnt have the same type of dialogues, etc etc.

I come back to this trailer often to relive the excitement of some of these moments. The nighttime X-Wing raid, and both the ground and space portions of the Battle of Scarif are some of the best Star Wars moments on the series. So violent and gritty.
Rogue One, The Mandalorian and now Andor. The three good things that came out of Disney Star Wars.

I find it interesting that not one of those 3 feature a Jedi as a main character, yet you hear so many complaints about "Where are the Jedi?" and "not enough lightsabers". So then they give us 'Obi Wan', which was just awful from top to bottom, and 'Ahsoka', which was...meh. Goes to prove you don't need lightsabers to tell a good Star Wars story.
I say that all the time. Disney DID NOT ruin Star Wars. The sequels are what ruined ruined Star Wars. Rey, Poe, and Finn are what ruined Star Wars. Disney actually made some really great contributions to the franchise. Rogue One, Solo, The Mandalorian, and Andor all all fantastic.

Eloi uhh same with the very first Star Wars movie. Who would care about destroying a weapon no one knows about. It’s a first movie. It’s about hope. It perfectly balances the entire galactic civil war and redefines the rebellion. Sure the characters aren’t as good as the OG cast. But I think rogue one perfectly showcases war. In the Star Wars universe. Same as movies like saving private ryan do in their worlds. I’m just saying. I would be looking forward to sequels. The only issue would be financial wise but I bet the movie would be re released if it got tons of praise. Like the first movie did.

Exactly. I saw "Rogue One" twice last night at the movie theater with the film still fresh in my mind. I am surprised the majority of the scenes and dialogue in this official movie trailer never made it into the final cut of the theatrical release.

This is by far my favorite Star Wars movie. It feels strangely realistic. Absolutely love how it ties into episode 4 and the aerial dogfight scenes are so awesome. Also it felt like a very 'grown-up' star wars film.

Man I remember being so excited for this. TFA was great. The fandom was flourishing and this film was absolutely amazing! Felt so much like the Original Trilogy except with better special effects of course and it was a love letter to the films I grew up with. Such a ride this film and every year I rewatch it and I am captivated by it every time! We need more Star Wars movies like this! We need more in this style. This is when the fandom was great, when it wasn’t toxic and when it wasn’t so divided. This was before the dark times, before The Last Jedi.

I think in case if John Williams dies(God forbid), the Rogue One composer(Alexandre Desplat) would be a good choice for the next Star Wars movies. He composed so many amazing pieces for lots of popular movies such as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2.

Here is an explanation for what is going on:
This is a spinoff film taking place before episode 4. It's about how the rebels stole the first Death Star plans. Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren, etc haven't been born yet. Episode 8 will be coming out in 2017. They just finished filming it a few weeks ago. Now go watch the other Star Wars movies. It's not that hard to watch six two hour movies. The whole story isn't just about the Force Awakens characters.

Why are so many people complaining about a female lead with this trailer? It's been known to be a female protagonist over 6 months now before the first trailer. Now this, this is what I call perfection. Music was amazing and some of the songs were newly made and they're still amazing. The story lines up with A New Hope, and the best space and ground battle we've ever seen! It think this deserve an A+. Although there are some questionable choices, but I think it's still good enough.
Seeing this trailer in 2020 with the scenes from the movie and hearing the soundtrack makes you cry :')

The whole point of the movie was too obtain the Death Star ship map so that Luke could later destroy it along with the rebel alliance
They weren't stealing the plans so the empire couldn't build it, they stole it to find a weakness.
Pretty sure the Empire has more than one copy to the plans😂😂😂 "sorry lord Vader I've misplaced the plans looks like we won't be able to complete our mega project"

2) This is NOT ANOTHER Death Star.
3) This movie is set BEFORE A New Hope (The Star Wars movie that was released in 1977)
4) The Death Star you're seeing in this trailer is the very first Death Star.
5) If you've seen the very first Star Wars movie (from 1977) then you may remember that it begins with Princess Leia's ship attempting to smuggle the plans for the Death Star that they had managed to steal from the Empire. Rogue One is about the group of people who successfully stole those plans.

Yup, but it looks like if you walked straight toward it, the lasers would go to the left and right side of you, so you could just walk right up to it. Again, it's a movie, so nothing is supposed to be realistic, so the point of that scene will just be for suspense.

I can't believe it's all over, The Force Awakens trailer released 6 years ago and it's crazy how time flies. I remember watching all these new movies on opening night and even though people hate them I love them. But this has gotta be my favourite.

Both this and Solo managed to capture the feeling of star wars waaaay better than any of the sequel films, kind of wish they just stuck to 'star wars story' films
