All these months later and this is my favorite humidifier ever. I haven't had to deep clean it once. It's such a solid built machine. I can't say enough about it. 😊
Glad to hear it! We just bought the HM813S, so I'm watching some videos before I even set it up. I'm guessing it's just the newer version of yours and so far I see no difference between them.
If you buy the filter for the water tank, it cuts back on the white dust. I've found on cool mist you get zero w-dust with the filter and RO water, but when the heater is on (warm mist), you see a little bit of w-dust. This is my favorite humidifier, and I like it more since doing this review.
These are great, but definitely need distilled water with them. Tap water leaves white film over everything in the room and orange gunk left behind in the humidifier. So basically, I brought a humidifier then a water distiller.
I just purchased this item for my bedroom and it will arrive on Monday. I have carpet, so I was planning on sitting in on a slab piece of granite on the floor. Will that be okay❓️ Also, I use an air purifier in my bedroom, in hopes it will help with the white residue. So can I use google from my Android phone once i install the app❓️
Best place for Air Purifiers and humidifiers is 3 to 4 feet off the ground. So never put them on the floor. Yes an Air Purifier will remove some of the white dust but you should also get the Dreo water tank filters. I use them and they work so great at removing white dust. Here is the link for them Dreo Demineralization Cartridge 3-Pack for Humidifiers, Eliminate White Dust a.co/d/3iM1lDj
Is dyson hunidifier better than this? What's the best hunidifier in your opinion? I desperately beed a good one. My apartment is terribly dry during winter and it causes me problem during slep
I run this every night, and I absolutely love it. The filter is actually working now, keeping out the white dust. The best thing to do is buy one on your budget and then upgrade. I think it's best to have two or more depending on how big your place is.
One thing I've noticed when reviewing Dyson products is they are good but not as good as they want you to think. What Dyson does is make the little things better than other products. They're amazing but definitely overpriced (unless on a sale) but if you can afford them, they will last a lot longer.
Yes, it has a humidity sensor, so once the room hits the humidity you set, it will turn off. Say you have the humidifier set to 50% humidity once it hits 50%, it shuts off. But you can set it to manual, and it will just run until the water tank is empty.
@@AtHomewithLucas Hmm. Didn't think of that. Kind of nice then. I'll give it a shot today. Your video is great. Love the pacing and thoroughness. Great delivery of the info.✌🏻
Hi I loved your review of this humdifier. do you think it will be better than the LEVOIT OasisMist Smart Warm and Cool Mist Humidifier. Aditionally does this humdifier actually run quiet as 28 db?
Thanks! Yes, it's better! It's built solid and works so nicely. Because this is a hot and cool humidifier, it will be louder on hot as the heater makes a little noise vs. the cool mist. I'll look into the exact db level.
Okay I need to review the filter for this machine because I bought some right after this posted on UA-cam. I absolutely love them. The filter really stops the white dust. But I also have a new reverse osmosis water filter system that helps as well. But my thought is the filter will definitely help you out.
No, not at all. It has a low mist setting, plus it can be set to a specific humidity setting, making it perfect for any size room. Just think of it this way a small/medium room will hit the humidity target faster, giving you more days before the tank is empty.
@AtHomewithLucas I didn't see any other colors available for the model, bought from Best buy so hopefully my isn't too hard to make the mineral dust you had. Do you know if we can run air purifier and humidifier? Or do those contradict each other.
You need to buy the Dreo humidifier filters. They really help. Lol actually I run a large Air Purifier on high and the humidifier in my living room every night.
The white dust seems to get worst with the heater on. When I run cool mist with the filter, I don't see any white dust. So I think if you have hard water the warm mist might be a problem.
It's just minerals in hard water. If you live in an area with hard water, you will see it. But a water softener usually stops it, or a whole house filtration system will also stop it. Humidifiers will produce white dust or boiling water on the stove.
@@AtHomewithLucas thanks for answering, which type of a humidifier is this? is it combination of Ultrasonic and Evaporative technology? because for warm should it be evaporative tech? or its just a normal ultrasonic humidifier
i have yet to find a way to avoid the white stuff. It gets on my plants too :(
Did you buy their water tank filter?
Maybe an air purifier could help🤷♀️
@aliceyeager1153 yes it will

Did you buy the water tank filter? I'd recommend them to keep your humidifier clean longer and remove humidifier "dust"
Great video!
Thanks
Why the white dust if you used ro water ? I have a smaller humidifier and looking to get this one. Great video!

I'm actually doing great with their filters and Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System. No white dust or orange gunk so far. 🤞😁
I use a Zero Water filter.
It makes 000ppm RODI water in a convenient kitchen style pitcher.
@93836 sorry but that will not filter hard water. Most white dust is caused by minerals in hard water.
I just bought this today very nice set up works great
Yeah I love mine still. I think it's gotten better with software updates. And the white dust is definitely less because of the filter.

So compared to the levoit OasisMist, do you prefer one over the other? I just purchased Levoit but saw Dreo and thinking about exchanging it.
Exchange it! I love my Dreo 10/10
My Lovoit humidifier is good 7.5/10

You can take the chimney out on most humidifiers for cleaning
Yes! It's so nice I do that all the time. 👍😁
Mine is frustrating. It seems to randomly turn off on its own. I have run it only about two hours and it’s done it three times. Any clue?

@EPHONIC hey thanks! Oh also did you download the Dreo app?

@@AtHomewithLucas Thank you so much. ill take your word for it. As long as it is pretty quiet ill be happy.
Dreo has an in-tank water filter that fits this model which I think is so you can use tap water. At least, I hope so! as I'm using it. lol!

Do you like this over the Levoit 450S?
Yes it's way better in so many ways. The filter is actually really working now...low to no white dust. I'd say get the filters with your purchase.
Looks nice but i prefer no WiFi dependency. Can u recommend the best no WiFi dependent warm humidifier? Thanks
This has all the buttons on the front, so you don't need wifi at all. I must have not made that clear in the video.
You don’t need to use WiFi. I never hooked up the WiFi /app feature. Looking at the video to see how to clean this thing.
@kimp2024 You can use a descaling solution or a small amount of white vinegar.
Is this an overkill for a bedroom?
No, not at all. It has a low mist setting, plus it can be set to a specific humidity setting, making it perfect for any size room. Just think of it this way a small/medium room will hit the humidity target faster, giving you more days before the tank is empty.

Link for the air Purifier?
Maybe a small fan would fix the dust problem

Is it worth work to buy and use with tap water ?
Do you have hard water? What state/country do you live in?
Have you tried using store bought distilled water?
Yes, I did for a few weeks, and it worked great.
Ai recommended this as best in the market and i got it
That's awesome! Keep me updated on how you like it.
What’s the white dust?
It's just minerals in hard water. If you live in an area with hard water, you will see it. But a water softener usually stops it, or a whole house filtration system will also stop it. Humidifiers will produce white dust or boiling water on the stove.

@diamondorm9920 great question as far as I know its an ultrasonic with a heater. I know it works and sounds the same heated vs cool.
👍
Thanks
Well i dont hva e filter water .
You can buy the water filter that inserts into the water tank. This will help reduce white dust.
