I love the wood floors throughout the house that's certainly a plus for whoever despises carpet like I do.

That is the average price for a newly built home here in Colorado believe it or not it also depends on the area to some areas are in the millions and some are in the range of 300,00.00+. The price is about right especial being in the mountains/foothills. Just saying home prices are outrageous and I believe also that every state is going to see a phenomenal increase in poverty because no one can afford a home at those prices plus property taxes. You either have to be rich by winning the lottery or have a really good paying job. It's just my opinion though. The house is nice I love the layout it has an open concept. Most houses I've seen are a bit claustrophobic to me.
    Thanks for sharing.

The part of Colorado we are in prices are 500,000. and up. The house I am in is 540,000.00 you wouldn't get 300,000. for it in Michigan or Texas.

Portland is going downhill fast. Who still wants to buy a home there?

I assume you have the right Portland, and you're not thinking that this is Portland, Oregon. I never heard that Portland, Maine is going down as that's news to me, but the way things are going lately it wouldn't surprise me.

My wife and I recently spent a night in Portland Maine and we were shocked by the amount of vagrancy, open use of drugs, homeless encampments -
We stayed at the Westin downtown and in the morning when we walked around it was discouraging, there was a lot of tell tale signs by the signs and flags in and around the city of what they support and what is going on here - the city has declined greatly and looks like they have the San Fran recipe to fall even further - very disheartening in a lot of these larger cities that this has occurred - will not be visiting Portland again

@@rehconcepts935 Thanks for the heads up. It's so sad to watch the sh!t that keeps creeping across America. My wife and I are very much conservative Trump supporters and I'm aware Maine is a blue state, but Maine is still so far my #1 consideration for our retirement in a few years from rural Pennsylvania. I'm looking for very rural lakefront property with some acreage and Maine seems to fit that bill quite nicely in my research, so hopefully we can distance ourselves to some degree from the cities, but like I said the creep is real.

@@michaelb.8953 I am from a very BLUE state (Massachusetts) and although we have our issues, Boston is holding its own with what you want in a big city but it may be a matter of time as the so called progressives' who sit in the Mayors office and many of levels of local government (along with two deplorable senators and the majority of our house reps) - most of Maine is not in the despair of Portland and does vote red, and there is plenty of value the more north you get (Aroostook County) but I would say if your considering retiring you seriously consider New Hampshire as the no state sales taxe, no tax on social security, no excise tax easily makes it the most non tax state out of all 50. There are alot of issues with drugs around several of its larger cities (not all) but like Maine once you are away from it you can see its much more conservative in its voting and values. There is also still some decent priced homes in some of these more conservative areas.
