Hey Craig, Good video. I've always heard it's best to turn AGC off when operating digital modes. The software can handle the AGC function for you. Just have to make sure you're not over driving the input to FLDigi or whatever else you may be running (e.g. WSJTx) by properly adjusting RF Gain and AF Gain. In fact the WSJT-X user manual says "It is usually best to turn AGC off or reduce the RF gain control to minimize AGC action." Also, FYI the S-Meter is pretty much irrelevant when operating digital too. That is why on PSK31, the signal report is usually the S/N and IMD in the bottom status bar on the left side. Kind of like the modes from WSJT-X use signal strength in dB. 73 de Craig (KO5S)
FYI,,,PSK 31 was meant as a weak signal mode and 5 watts or less was the idea, not 25 watts and NOT 40 watts. I have worked all over the world with 5 watts and never needed more> I am just using simple dipoles under 20 feet off the ground. More power just hogs bandwidth and causes interference to others. .
It would be nice to Hear what this PK signal sounds like .. Being totally new to the digital side ... I hear so many different sounds and have zero clue of how to relate the sounds to a specific mode ...
99% of the action is on 20 meters... it can't hurt to listen on other freqs, turn on "RSID/RX" in fldigi (upper right corner), it will beep/display signals.
Looking for a grid down means of keyboard to keyboard communication. Does this require either station to have an internet connection or GPS connection for time?

Great video. I've wanted to try PSK-31 and you made it look so easy. Thanks for the video. 73

Awesome stuff craig. I can't wait to move into the new house and set up the dx commander so I can get on the air.
nice to see some psk31 going on.
Awesome Craig! Show us HF packet again with the new update to DigiPi.
Great video Craig!
Is this used on 10 meters? I've tried calling throughout the day in this mode as well but got zilch. Is all the action down in 20 meters?

great question, no there is no dependence on any infrastructure
I don't hear PSK on the bands anymore. Looks like FT8 took over.
I still hear it regularly on 20 meters 14.070. FT8 doesn't really allow you to communicate.
great
Hi use a k at the end of your tx. Then he knows your finished. John DJ6JH
