The Cavs biggest hurdle is staying healthy. Last year, they got up to the 2nd spot in the east, before injuries took them out. With Mitchell, LeVert, Rubio, Neto and Lopez, minutes will be spread out more, so they can have more gas in the tank for the end of the season. About shooting efficiency, nothing is more efficient than a slam dunk from either Allen or Mobley, which Garland and Mitchell can break down opposing defense where the center two choices, help out on the drive (which opens up Allen) or not (where Mitchell or Garland can have an open lanes to net.
I think you will be surprised this year. This video somehow reminded me of the pre-season baseball prognosticators who said the Guardians couldn't win because they didn't hit homeruns. I fell in love with this Cavs team last year because they epitomized team play and hustle!
How is one player, that was added to a team that is rated as a top five defensive team, drop below that over one player? I'll wait for your answer......
Im workin on the Defense video right now, and although they can still be respectable on Defense, it becomes really hard to contain the other team when perimeter defense is bad, even if interior defense is elite. Look at the Jazz, they were 10th in defensive rating last season, third in defensive rating 2 seasons ago, Gobert is the best rim protector in the league, but in the playoffs they couldnt stop players bc their perimeter defense is bad, guards could blow by their man which forces the defense to rotate and gifts the other team easier baskets. With a backcourt of Garland and Mitchell who are bad defenders, and role players that aren't good defenders, the responsibility will fall on Allen and Mobley. That is good enough for the regular season, but I dont think it will work well against the best competition, those 2 can't defend everyone at once. Also, if you have taller guards that can shoot, it doesnt matter if Garland and Donovan stay with them, the taller guard can shoot over them with confidence that their shot wont be blocked. Its all putting a lot of pressure on the frontcourt. I dont think they will be awful or anything like that, but i do think their defense will become worse simply because, well their backcourt isnt good defensively, and their small forwards/wings arent good defenders either. In summary, Ricky Rubio is a positive defender and he is gone, and Markannen was just fine on D, and he is gone too, both replaced with a bad defender.
Markenen was inconsistent at 3's missed a lot in clutch times. And could not defend larger bodied players down low. Love was more consistent and clutch at 3. Lavert did not have chance to blend with team but can find his own shot. 3 point shooting will be a key issue but Garland is expected to improve this aspect of his game.
Lack of depth is laughable lavert rubio love some talented veterans coming off the bench. Yes we lack wing depth but okoro has improved every year and is a strong defender to help our front court
@@Youngboss1024 points is what hes asked to do he is a nice piece i think you look at box scores and dont watch him. He plays runs well in transition and is a decent player for us. Forget where he was drafted on his rookie deal hes better value than paying someone to come in and play 3
@@matthewmulherm6951 Buddy, that's the kind of player you draft in the 2nd round, NOT in the top 5. High lottery picks are supposed to be REALLY good players that you give large extensions to and build around for years. Running well in transition? Nobody respects him when he has the ball. He will be traded at some point.
I'm counting on the development of Mobley's post/midrange game. Even if they're lacking in the 3pt department if you got a guy that you can just throw the ball to and do the work down low, it's really hard to counter regardless of how good perimeter defense a team has. And then they can work around with some smart cuts from the other guys that can't really shoot
Even if Mobley improves to let’s say league average at 3 point shooting that would change a lot about the dynamic of the offense. Then again even if the Cavs aren’t title contenders just yet they’re so young they have the next 10 years with a bright future
League average would be actually really good for him. He's never going to be a stretch 4, he just needs to be able to keep defenders honest out there. So long as it's 34% or better, that would be enough. Obviously better is...better. But not necessary to be an amazing player
I agree the Cavs need better and more consistent 3 point shooting. However I do believe Mobley will improve his outside shooting this year to help with that. Looking forward to your breakdown of the defense. Finally both Love and Osman are 3 point threats coming off the bench. I can't wait for the season to start. Go Cavs!
Coby Altman is not finished trading this year. Teams always covet players with expiring contracts, and the Cavs have 2 they will trade for a top 3 and D forward. After that they can go very deep in the playoffs. The expiring contracts are Kevin Love and Caris Lavert.
You speak of mobley as raw. Watch more of the games. He is as polished as rookie bigs come under weight maybe. He distributes gets offensive boards and is great in the pick and roll
What do y'all think? Do the Cavs have enough to compete for a championship, or will they come up short until they get more help? Cavs defense breakdown will be up soon, as always thanks for watching!
Heres what i think happens in the future...i think lebron comes back to cleveland somehow...and kd goes baxk to the warriors...just looks like it to me but...well see i guess😂😂
Quality video bro, thank you.
Much appreciated!
That picture of windhorst with long hair is hilarious
We need a Starting Small Forward.
All they need is Wiggins
nah my guy Caris defense isn't bad he was decent defender for Cavs last season
Another Cavs fan told me the same thing, interesting! it might be something that depends if he's guarding shooting guards or small forwards 🤔
@@HustleOnDThunderD he’s more comfortable guarding SG some SF tho
I believe they do the entire team down to the bench fits for a ring maybe just maybe they might be a year early but this team can get a ring
i agree, it's still early but they have the foundation now
We are deep. We have an army of serviceable wings.

thats true, Cavs are going to have games where they are unstoppable in the paint

I love to hear that! and It's going to be an exciting brand of basketball no matter what happens, can't wait to see them

I actually really like that fit for them!

Okoro is a top 5 pick and averaged 8-9 points per game. He's a bust. If he doesn't make a sizable jump in development, he'll get traded.

The Rudy joke about his bag deserves a sub😂😂 good one

Agreed, Mobley needs to unlock his offense to really see the Cavs shine, he's got plenty of time!

Absolutely, if Mobley develops a decent 3 pt shot he's one of the best players in the league in no time

Looks like the Cavs are having no trouble gelling as you were concerned about
It's still early, but they're now on a 5 game losing streak, gotta see them healthy though!

Yup, even with the average shooting Cavs will still find ways to be dominant, they have too much talent not to shine
Check your stride in a March 2023. Cavs going to prove the haters wrong. Go Cavs!
Cant wait for cavs vs thunder!! 💪

Yes, raw is a pretty strong word, he has progress to make like all rookies
Levert was decent at defense last szn for us, in fact when he was playing with us his struggle was finishing and shooting
Interesting, ill be keeping my eye on him!
