Me too. I'm also getting into music and would love to see more stuff of it.
Maybe he will eventually get there, but financial channels get the highest paid ads, so it's a smart move.
Linux and FOSS are great, but I can't imagine talking about it consistently for years.
You can if you go deeper into the subject like djware does, otherwise it's pretty quickly a loop, but it requires expertise
The clear explaination you spread across your Linux Channel videos, is the best guarantee for my understsnding the complicated world of options.

Hey DT, I've watched you from "next door" for years and think your channel and you and I are very much alike in alot of ways (other than our hair being polar opposites) I can't wait to see the new channel and I hope you do it from a ground up as I have NO idea the nuts and bolts of any kind of trading but it sounds like something I'd be into. Also I'd love to get a copy of the new book especially if it is offered digital. I'm not so much an ink and paper reader. Please tho keep up this channel, you have a great thing here. Also I'd love to see a guest appearance colab with switched to Linux on your channel. I feel yall would have good on camera energy together. Anyways, great news and tons of luck with the new venture.

This is great news. I can't tell you how much you have helped me with Arch Linux and shown me so many commands I didn't even know about even though I Use FreeBSD and Hyprland as my main system. You do such a great job I could not stand Vim but because of you, I'm hooked on it of course I now use neovim (Lazyvim) all because of you. I just installed Doom emacs on FreeBSD. Well, I cant wait to watch your new channel. Thank you so much for such great videos and your photographic memory how you remember it all blows my mind. Thank you for all the great years Thomas.

This is awesome! I didn't know you were that much into music, but that's awesome. I played drums professionally, in the studio, teaching, etc, but ended up in IT. Can't wait to follow your new journey. I always noticed that you know your audio signal-to-noise ratio, seeing how you setup your audio/levels very well and using a true broadcasting, non-USB-only Mic!
I subscribed to your new channel. I also love music, I have zero formal education in music and just play instruments by ear and sing, I started as a childhood church choir singer and karaoke singer and just started making music one day. Would love to see some music content from you, maybe on music theory.

Always been afraid of options, always(20+ years) doing pair trades, momentum and the like.
Yeah fin freedom is where it's at and I preach that to any and all open ears:-)

This is exciting, indeed -- my son's just doing final proofs on his 1st book on fruiting trees(he's an agri guy) as a way to branch out in his field of plant genomics.

I'll freely admit I've been critical about how you conduct your channel, but I think this video shows the kind of person you are. It shows that you are willing to listen to people and that you care. For all the years you've been on UA-cam, we respect the hustle and understand that it's a big step. From evangelizing Emacs to investing money. UA-cam pays us nothing and it can be extra hard as a full-time creator to keep the show going. Good luck DT (and Glasses DT best DT).

It's never a surprise to hear a tech enthusiast is also a writer or musician. Consider me a double subscriber....maybe I should learn a little about money too..... As for your writing ideas it would be very cool to see you collaborate with The Linux Cast. I think I remember him saying that writing is his day job. Would be great to have a writing seminar where the audience is assumed to be tech saavy.
Computers/Science/Math and Music kind of go hand in hand. There is very much a math element to music, so it kind of makes sense that so many techies are also musically inclined.
This is really cool Derek! For the past several months I've been toying with the idea of starting a Forex / Futures trading channel, this is wild! I don't know anything about options, but I'll definitely be subbing & following along ...really excited for you Derek! 👍👍

I'm a system administrator and I love your POV about open source, I'm sure I'll love your POV about financial freedom. You didn't say it in this video but yes, It's all about freedom.
Many of us will follow you because we trust you. I mean you have your own way of seeing things, sometimes we are not according with you but at the end we Know what you're doing is "right". At least it is not "wrong" and this is much better than what most financial advisors can do.

I have actually talked about trading software on Linux in a couple of videos before. I may do a deeper dive into this in the future.
Love the Linux content, but I'm happy to see you're able to peruse your other interests on UA-cam! I've never heard of options trading before, but it sounds interesting. I am 21 years old and graduating from college in December, so I've been looking for ways to start saving money for my future. I will for sure checkout those videos, you have my sub!
What DAW do you use? I use Bitwig... it runs native on Linux supposedly (never tried). Good on you for branching out.
I think that would be a great channel to start. I don't even know how to start investing in stocks. If I knew how to trade in stocks I would have started a long time ago.
The general public goes to public schools and learn to be an employee and doesn't even learn how to invest.

Hi DT, Luv your videos. They've helped me a lot on my Linux journey. In regards to freedoms I like to think about freedoms from a class and political power perspective. From that perspective there are 2 main freedoms: 1. The freedom to exploit people and the environment and 2. Freedom from exploitation (exploitation by the dominant, powerful class). The tension between these two have greatly influenced history and societies. Best Wishes! 😊

I think it is great what you are suggesting at 5:20 about the options channel. Because I would love to know how you invest, because I think we probably have similar viewpoints on investment. Even though I don't option trade, I invest in very conservative, but rewarding ways that are slow to give yields. For me, I don't take that much risk, so I'd like to see how you view investments. And, I'd like to learn from you.
Even though it is not something I am not interested in the subject of your new channel, I hope it will be a success for you.

Not completely ruling it out at some point in the future. But music channels on UA-cam....I'm not sure I could offer anything that unique or useful. But who knows. Maybe one day..

To be fair I wouldn't mind if you used this channel instead of starting a new one. Your video about freedom and guns that you own is one of my favorite ever! The best of the best of UA-cam.
It's a sad fact of human life that too much of any one thing brings boredom. Meantime, other interests is very good as you get older. All the best with the new channel.

Just curious, do you still keep your old (first year) raw video? I'm curious how big is your storage drive to store all your video.
How do you know he shoots in raw video? You can't import raw video to kdenlive.

Dt, why you don't do music stuff?
I hope that you use your computer knowledge in trading options. For example, getting information (current/past prices, current/past values of RSI, Bollinger, ...) automatically using tools like httpie or curl.
Trading, IMO, is not very important because it doesn't create goods or services directly.
What an absolute legend.
There is this guy that has a YT channel reacting to video clips and I like the content very much. After a while, he built almost a million subscribers and started a second channel where he talks about politics and other things lawing related. I disagree with his politics view, but I think it`s nice to see more of the person of self, we are more than just content.
You could call it "Taylored", maybe.
It's seemed for a while now that there have been lots of other subjects, including music and even touching on political stuff, that you've wanted to talk about but you were constrained because 'DistroTube is a Linux channel'. Good luck!

Advertisements on financial UA-cam channels pay more. Also a lot of the big financial channels don't know shit about finance, so why not.
