Yup, this car has the very last naturally aspirated V6 in the compact luxury sedan segment. Buy one of these while you can, because who knows what Lexus will do in the coming years. We're completely unsure if Lexus will even keep this car in the lineup, or go the electric route for the next generation.
This car is perfect. The perfect blend of old and new. The performance and color combo is fantastic. Lexus build quality...what else can I say. I want one!
Congratulations mate! what colour did you get? Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
I agree with you. Engine/performance and handling/road feel are much more important than the infotainment system. No one gets out of a car after a long drive and thinks, "Man, that was a great experience swiping thru all those menus while I tried to keep my eyes on the road."
If you're a driver, all of those tech features are just to take your mind away from the obvious which is probably an unreliable drivetrain. I'll take Lexus reliability on driving performance over any of the tech gadgets that people won't probably use, especially if it's loaded with safety features, taking away a lot of the manual control from the driver. The only gripe I don't like about the entertainment system is that it's not wireless, but you can always get a Carplaylink, connect it to USB port and voilla you have wireless Apple Carplay. Just a $90 aftermarket upgrade well worth it.
I own a '21 IS and while it's not the quickest car out there and have all the latest tech features, it's enough for me. There's just something intangible about it that makes it special. The looks literally turn heads and I've had people give me thumbs up as I'm driving. Add reliability and looks that make my heart skip a beat every time I turn back and look at it and it's a great buy, especially if you're picking one up used.
Absolutely 100%! I just bought a 2022 Lexus IS350 F-Sport In white with the RED interior and I couldn't be happier. It's fast enough at 5.3 0-60 and extremely comfortable without being floaty at all. It's definitely a looker and the power train combo is bulletproof! Hard to beat! Oh and I got it with 6k miles on it for 10k off the price when it was purchased by someone else. 42k out the door. Smart way to buy!
I’m one of those people who turn his head every time I see one of these on the road 🤣 I absolutely love this car and would love to have one sitting on my driveway one day.
Absolutely LOVE this car. I've owned the 2014 IS and now the 2021 IS, they're just one of the best overall compact sedans out there, you get a good bang for your buck with these cars and you can sell them for a very competitive price after a few years. Thanks for the less harsh review bro!
After spending more time with it and after driving most of the turbo 4-cylinder competitors for the same money, we realized there is still something super appealing about this IS! Just needs the new Lexus Interface infotainment system for us!
I’ve never driven one of these ,but I’ve love the styling of the IS since it debuted in 2001 and especially since the major reskin in 2021. I love the proportions of this car and still stare at it when I see one. What I am surprised that he didn’t mention in this review is the CD player that it still has lol.
I consider that a plus since I have a large collection sitting in a closet somewhere...gives me a reason to dust them off😎 The bad part about it is I think Lexus ditched the 6 disc changer that used to reside in the center stack which is a huge bummer.😞 Kinda makes the player useless unless you want to remind yourself what high quality music sounds like. We have become far too used to overcompressed downloaded music and satellite radio these days.
I've always had a softspot for lexus. One of the more reliable luxury cars throughout the years. I've always loved their seats too. So comfy... Just outside of my price bracket new though.
Agreed! We only get the 8 here in Aus (RWD only). It's awesome! Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
2006 actually and that is why it's so outclassed vs other V6 (and most turbo 4-cylinder) sedans in this class. I mean an engine that is 17 years old should be reliable now. I don't see that as impressive, it's expected.
@@MercOne Agreed. I was 21 when I test drove a new 2006 IS350 (ended up with a certified used Jaguar X-Type because I was poor lol) and since this car has virtually the SAME engine as that now-dinosaur that I test drove then reliability should be a given... But it having that same old engine with nearly identical fuel economy and HP/torque numbers is why I'd never buy one of these new unless the discount was steep.
Except sales volume is low, which means customers in this segment largely neither want to lease or own this car. The IS got left behind several years ago. This newish refresh is sharp looking, but this dog is too old with too few new tricks.
Thanks for the great review. I own a refreshed IS 350 F sport with RWD and I definitely agree that the new exterior is gorgeous and the red interior is to die for. In addition, the luxury aspects are wonderful - having had German sport sedans, hatchbacks prior - the Lexus is definitely superior in the luxury department and miles just melt away on long distance drives (and commuting is very comfortable too). The stereo is excellent and the sound from the NA V6 is way better than the turbo 4s. Infotainment/technology wise I am very pleased overall. In the realm of performance - you hit it on the nose when you said acceleration is great above a certain redline - but up to that it can be a bit sluggish. This is especially true when at a full stop or from very low speeds to highway speeds - even in Sport+. In addition, nailing the throttle usually produces instability and nose wagging (even with the dynamic handling package). It is very stable on long curves at high speeds but abruptly throwing it into a corner produces way too much tail out action - especially compared to my German cars from prior (in same price range). All this would still be totally ok if not for the fact that the front end is so low that scraping it on my garage entrance required me to adjust to backwards in parking- of which I am definitely not a fan. I parked next to a current 911 at a mall the other day and its front bumper was higher! Overall, still a good car with great reliability for the time I have had it of about two years. In addition, trying to test drive an IS 500 to see if it is worth it has been next to impossible with my local Lexus dealers - maybe that will improve with time.
I'm glad you reviewed this IS again and now see where it shines. This V6 and chassis combo is a great recipe. For a drivers car this is a great vehicle with top quality engineering. In my book it's a classic for those who love the driving experience and don't need unreliable over engineered modern tech. This has enough new tech to please those that come from a 2007 TL-S or old IS. I love this car and will pick one up to keep as a classic V6 sugar rush. Keep up the great work, your reviews are excellent and transparent.
Not that I can afford it, but this is my personal pick for the compact luxury segment. Classically good looking and will still look good 15 years later.
I have to admit, this car went from being an odd looking also-ran to a real head turner that is desirable for the style alone. I think it looks gorgeous. But it really stands to benefit from the updated powertrain. The old 3.5 is a decent engine but it hasn't been competitive in this class for the last ten years or more. Not sure how I feel about the switch to all turbo-4's though, but I guess it's fine. I'll keep my Tesla and continue to admire these from the road haha.
This car is an absolute master class in how to style a compact sports sedan, BMW could learn a thing or two from the Lexus chief stylist. I even like the refreshed interior with the round vents that have symmetry with the analog clock, and even the start button, mirror adjustment control...not to mention the sweet motorized digital tach/speedo. I even like the retro 90's thing carrying the seat color into the dash, especially since they didnt overdo it with red everything. The only thing I wish is for a slightly less wide center stack/console. Just shaving 3/4 of an inch off the width would be great. Other than that, this car is old school in good way..especially since the touchpad thing is now optional. Having said all that, this car seems fully loaded (BBS wheels, heated steering wheel and Mark Levinson sound) yet doesnt have the larger touchscreen? Odd thing to cheap out on after checking most other option boxes. $55k for this (assuming you can find an MSRP Lexus dealer) is a lot of money, but in a world where you can get the new Prius Prime up to $40k, I'd say this thing is a bargain.
Totally agree! It's strange the bigger screen is standard here in Aus, the small screens look very odd! Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
Definitely an older looking interior with the tech interface and some of the controls, but I honestly think Lexus still has some of the best interiors when you compare them to Acura and Infiniti. I mean Infiniti's Q50 is in need of a extremely desperate refresh, even though I don't mind that interior but just screams more Nissan, Acura's current TLX looks amazing though, but for me, Lexus is the best when it comes to the Japanese luxury brands. Designs are much better and interiors look way better (even some of the older Lexus interiors like this one).
I thought the same thing. Looking at the pictures or videos, the interior seemed a little underwhelming. But I just picked up a 22 IS, and I think it looks much better in person. I have absolutely no complaints about this car. I love it.
Honestly as long as it has apple carplay or android auto, really could care less as those are the latest and greatest. I perfer buttons over touch screen anyday
@@colorsafebleach5381 Yeah that's what I think. Lexus designs are pretty timeless in my opinion~ It would be nice for Lexus to make more updates to the IS right now, but I'm sure they will do that in the future. Also to replace that 6-speed automatic, but honestly, 6 gears is still a perfect amount of gears. Great gear spacing, and not too many gears to hunt for. 6-speed transmissions are probably the best partner for most cars and a good balance between fuel economy and overall acceleration. Lexus does a good 6-speed.
So can you add the panoramic view monitor on the base 8 inch display without having to get the navigation package? I was told that in order to get the panoramic view monitor you also have to get the navigation.
Someone rear ended and totaled my '16 IS350 F Sport in nebula gray pearl few weeks ago. It only had 73K miles..I'll be in the market for this 2023 IS350 soon
I received this very same car for my birthday this week.......it is very cool! Great look.....just need to figure out how to add more radio channels, and use some of the features. The back seats are actually very comfortable.
I am practically sold on the is350 as my next car. I dont care for the infotainment as long as the sound system is good than thats good enough for me. Practically an indestructible V6 that I believe will last easily 200k with the right care and not constantly being beat on
Stock sound system is good but with the Mark Levinson it will be the best audio you’ve ever heard in your life. It’s amazing. I have an rx350 with mark levinson audio and the is 350 without it.
I had a 06 IS250 for a few years before getting into a 2014 428ixdrive. While I love the BMW it made me realize just how underrated the Lexus IS line is.
Why is it so hard for car manufacturers to put in a info screen that don’t look like garbage if I buy this car ima want to buy a aftermarket screen for it
One aspect about Toyota/Lexus that people must understand. They do not follow the conventional wisdom of the other manufacturers. Rather than constantly redesign and use new and unproven technology they will use proven and refined designs and technology. Their customers love the reliability and the tried and true styling.
Drove one for a week and was impressed. The blinker stalk is so freaking annoying! Most stalks you simply tap to stop. Not this one. There is no clicking indention. You need to push the entire way in the opposite direction for it to stop - then be careful that you didn’t engage the blinker the opposite way. It’s so frustrating for such a simple function, it’s stupendously baffling!
You get used to it after a while 😂😂 Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
Come on Sofyan, call a spade a spade, old style this, older system that, can't match 8 speed with all wheel drive, incandescent turn signals, nothing has changed its the same review as 22, 21, 20, 19, even mostly 2018. They haven't bothered to really upgrade because as you say they phasing it out for the turbo 4. and they are just getting rid of old stock. Don't get me wrong its an awesome car and I would have owned one in 2018 if I could have molded it with the 2018 xseV6 Camry, which I have owned since then. They came close last year by adding the 5 litre which certainly got the ISF enthusiast attention, but I surmise that they had a few extra 5 litres on hand and no GS left to put them in. Now the twin turbo 3.5 litre is still a thing, cause its in the new Tundra and the LS, oh and those models came with a heads up display. Can you imagine the new platform that's coming with all the modern options and a 415hp twin turbo V6 or the 478hp V8, I have been for 5 years. No we are getting a turbo four! So I still drive the 2018 xseV6 Camry, which incidentally they haven't made any significant changes to that in five years, and don't even start about the TRD (SE). I live in Canada and all wheel drive takes preference over rear wheel drive which is clearly more fun, and the IS500 would be relegated to a summer car, so I'm stuck with front wheel drive. I have opted for custom exhaust so it really does sound as good outside as it does inside, upgraded brakes and slightly larger summer sticky tires, so its been ok waiting and dreaming of what could have been. I guess the only real option now is the ELECTRIC version with piped in V8 exhaust notes. What is the world coming to? PS towards the end you did mention God awful old with all the accolades so sorry Sofyan you did call the spade, I digress!
Sorry, I pinched myself and am glad I did. I came so so close to buying one in 2021, but thankfully, couldn't find one for a reasonable price since dealers were playing games with big $$$ above MSRP or won't sell without trade-ins. So, I kept driving my 2007 TL, which has been rock solid. The latest IS design is beautiful, size is almost perfect - except interior is a bit cramped, powertrain is reliable and proven.... However, I eventually just couldn't justify spending $55k-ish for a car with outdated everything including performance for its class.
I just wanted to call out a mistake in the video. You say that there are two “packages”. The F Sport Design and F Sport Handling but this is incorrect. The F Sport Design is a trim, and the other trim is just the regular F Sport. The F Sport Handling is a package that offers adaptive dampers and torsen rear diff (not on AWD models) but that is a separate independent package for around $1400 that can only be added to the regular F Sport trim, not the design.
Gorgeous exterior, sumptuous interior, balanced drivetrain. Then you look at the center stack and infotainment center and it looks like it came from the 90s. XD Guess nothing is perfect
there's a physical dial on the left driver knee area to adjust the fake engine noise, including turning it off. no need to code or physically modify the car or go into the infotainment.
What is the difference in engine between the IS 300 V6 3.5L AWD 260HP vs the IS 350 AWD V6 3.5L 311HP? What did they do to get more power (or de-tune), or are they different engines?
The IS is one of the best looking sport sedans out there. But what kills it for me is the ancient 6-speed automatic and poor fuel economy. I drive at least 15k miles a year, so something that gets less than 30 mpg highway is a no-go for me. But if Lexus were to offer a 6-speed manual in the IS again (and yes, I know I’m dreaming here) I’d probably buy one.
Lexus could’ve given it the same interior as the ES. Even though that interior itself is getting dated.. It would look a bit modern. For a car priced starting around 40k, it can’t compete with something like a CLA.
Sucks the fob doesnt have automatic start when the camry fob does. Either way the automatic start sucks bc as soon as u open any door or the trunk the car shuts off
It's not possible to hide it longer and all of us should take some time to think about LPA23X and what it will do to the economoy. On my side I'm very optimistic with this and there is no better time to know about that than now

Brilliant exterior design hampered by outdated interior design (seemingly indefinitely). I’d still buy one, but not at the price they’re asking for the lack of those interior features. Hell Honda is miles ahead of them in terms of interior design!
LPA23X has the most potential to do more than X100. ETH and BTC will most likely do a X5-X6, but that's fine for me. Gotta look for better entry points while I stake IRIS and PGEN, then wait for Polygen's next raise as I also look at their new partnership with Kenzo Ventures.

So can you add the panoramic view monitor on the base 8 inch display without having to get the navigation package? I was told that in order to get the panoramic view monitor you also have to get the navigation.
Lexus is stupid to switch to a turbo. The whole point people want the IS350 is for a naturally aspirated V6. Reliability and power.
Whats the difference between a natural aspirated and a turbo ??
I got one of these and dropped the ark exhaust system in it… wow. Really made me appreciate the n/a V6
No way! That must sound awesome! Also mate if you like Lexus reviews, I have plenty and a few with the IS350 😄 Feel free to check it out 😊
Someone rear ended and totaled my '16 IS350 F Sport in nebula gray pearl few weeks ago. It only had 73K miles..I'll be in the market for this 2023 IS350 soon
I received this very same car for my birthday this week.......it is very cool! Great look.....just need to figure out how to add more radio channels, and use some of the features. The back seats are actually very comfortable.
Congratulations mate!! Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
You can remote start with the 3 long press and hold on the third press to remote start it.
Does it have memory seat?
Just got my girl a 22 avalon touring with the v6 and i fell in love with it, now i want one of these for me lol
Great car. Don't kill off the V6!
Toyota V6 and V8 bulletproof
I really hope they don't! Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
I had a 06 IS250 for a few years before getting into a 2014 428ixdrive. While I love the BMW it made me realize just how underrated the Lexus IS line is.
So true! Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
What happen to the exhaust pipes so small!! Common Lexus put proper exhaust or dual exhaust!! For more than $50K car!!
I’m annoyed a dealer specced this fully loaded with an 8” touchscreen. Like Wtf.
Always loved the exterior, and with lexus reliability, i would buy this over its German competitors any day.
Agreed! Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
Hopefully Mazda gives this car a run for its money if they decide to bring out another sedan with their new inline 6 engine.
they should of put the nx infotainment here, even some toyotas have a better screen
A 6 speed automatic in 2023? Where is the Turbo? 311hp and 6 cogs doesn't cut it for a sport car in this price range in 2023.
Why is it so hard for car manufacturers to put in a info screen that don’t look like garbage if I buy this car ima want to buy a aftermarket screen for it
Traded my 21 is350 in for a macan gts. I loved it great fuel economy enough power great safety tech love the touchscreen display.
One aspect about Toyota/Lexus that people must understand. They do not follow the conventional wisdom of the other manufacturers. Rather than constantly redesign and use new and unproven technology they will use proven and refined designs and technology.
Their customers love the reliability and the tried and true styling.
Facts
Lexus going full turbo is the nail in the coffin for them.
LPA23X 😍🚀🚀🚀 Thx for this update
Comment at the six minute mark is incorrect. Only the IS doesn’t have a pano sunroof, the ES and LS are both offered with that option.
I like it a lot, but that car payment… idk.
It’s overpriced for sure
You could just get a Camry w the same engine and get more space and way better tech
@@naveenthemachine Yo u keep saying Camry, and i hear you, but that's front wheel drive vs RWD / AWD. Big deal breaker for some people.
@@paulpierce21 well true but if you want RWD dynamics wouldn’t you logically expect more power to experience it?
I mean it's 2023. They've been using the same engine for like 15 years. It's about time to put the twin turbo in it. AWD is a must have.
Just got a 24 in white. Love it. Loved my 16 also. Best looking out there. Sexy Lexi
Question: I’m considering the Lexus is 350 f sport and the es 350 f sport. Which one should I consider? I love them both.
I still love a natural aspirated 6 cylinder engine. I don’t like my turbo 4 cylinder engine. And I still would enjoy a CD player in my car.
Good lord, the interior still looks so old. I admit the exterior looks really nice now though.
For 55k good look and reliability are not enough for me. Not making significant update in 3 years is not acceptable.
Great looks but unfortunately my 2021 Camry XSE AWD just has more features 😕 and for less
But you’re has a noisy 4 cylinder 😂
The XSE v6 is what you need to compare it to
I just wanted to call out a mistake in the video.
It is also a 17 speaker Mark Levinson speaker system, not a 14 speaker system.
Gorgeous exterior, sumptuous interior, balanced drivetrain. Then you look at the center stack and infotainment center and it looks like it came from the 90s. XD Guess nothing is perfect
Agreed! Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
I think, if you press the lock button 3 times in quick succession and hold the lock button on the 3rd press, it should remote start the car.
there's a physical dial on the left driver knee area to adjust the fake engine noise, including turning it off. no need to code or physically modify the car or go into the infotainment.
What is the difference in engine between the IS 300 V6 3.5L AWD 260HP vs the IS 350 AWD V6 3.5L 311HP? What did they do to get more power (or de-tune), or are they different engines?
Nice review love the car
I own a 2015 GS350 awd I liked the bigger body. Tons of HP for a luxury commuter car.
My 2019 Camry XSE V6 has the same engine? Sweet.
Disappointing, so much old tech and low power for that v6 i thought they would have made alot more improvments
Man..I have a 2018 model. And I'm just waiting for an is500 to drop to 55k..fingers cross its soon.
Not one of the best.. it is the best looking hands down
Is this IS350 different from the previous year model? Does it have the same engine 🤔?
I have the money to buy one but I must resist and be smart with my money!!!! Lovely car tho 😍😍😍😍
Lexus could’ve given it the same interior as the ES. Even though that interior itself is getting dated.. It would look a bit modern. For a car priced starting around 40k, it can’t compete with something like a CLA.
May i ask ! What’s color ?
55k as tested? I'll take a Genesis G70 3.3T or a Stinger GT2....exterior is beautiful though.
how much is this car in usd..?and can someone in south africa get it?
Nobody is going to miss that V6.
We will 😂😂
Wow this is such a nice car !
Totally agree! Also mate if you like Lexus reviews, I have plenty and a few with the IS350 😄 Feel free to check it out 😊
I love everything about this car
Sucks the fob doesnt have automatic start when the camry fob does. Either way the automatic start sucks bc as soon as u open any door or the trunk the car shuts off
It's not possible to hide it longer and all of us should take some time to think about LPA23X and what it will do to the economoy. On my side I'm very optimistic with this and there is no better time to know about that than now
You actually can remote start from the key fob
My first son will be called LPA23X that's for sure
Imagine missing the Amazon LPA23X on-going presale, HODL STRONG the public sale about to explode
I am sure LPA23X will grow. That's why I just keep buying ada on bfx
It needs a inline 6 version of the 2.4L turbo for this car!
It not the same power for the Is 2014.
You said, since 2014 (311hp )) in your intro. 2014 had 306hp.
dam 5.5 to 60 isn't bad at all for a 3700 pound N/A V6
Agreed! Too many people complaining it's too slow but at least it's got that V6 sound 👌 Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
I own one of these in awd and with full tank it’s 3,900 pounds
Last call for LPA23X Nothing better this year 🛑🛑
I own a 2021 and it looks literally the same as this.
I want one!!
My next car for sure once my 2012 Tl gives up(if it ever happens lol)
You might be waiting a while 😂😂 Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
I want this AWD on ES350
Reliability > Everything.
Agreed! Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
Really liked my IS350-f but wife said she didn’t riding in a small car. So I traded for a LS500 😊
It does feel tight
Nice! The LS is one of my favs! Also mate if you enjoy watching Lexus reviews, I got heaps on the IS350, LS500 and all the others. Feel free to have a watch 😄
The same v6 from almost 20 years ago. Civics are almost faster then this 😊
Brilliant exterior design hampered by outdated interior design (seemingly indefinitely). I’d still buy one, but not at the price they’re asking for the lack of those interior features. Hell Honda is miles ahead of them in terms of interior design!
LPA23X has the most potential to do more than X100. ETH and BTC will most likely do a X5-X6, but that's fine for me. Gotta look for better entry points while I stake IRIS and PGEN, then wait for Polygen's next raise as I also look at their new partnership with Kenzo Ventures.
biggest market explosion ever is LPA23X
