  • Jiaxing Tram (Chinese: 嘉兴有轨电车) is a tram in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, China. There are seven lines planned for construction, which will span a length of about 98 kilometres (61 mi).
    History
    Jiaxing first disclosed the rail plan in 2015. On 16 September 2019, the Jiaxing Municipal People's Government approved the construction plan of the tram for 2019-2023. The plan was also approved by the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission on 9 December 2019, and the preliminary design of the first phase of the project was approved on 17 April 2020 by the same commission.
    On 28 December 2019, the tram started construction at the hub of the Jiaxing railway station, and construction of the whole line of the first phase began in May 2020.
    On 5 November 2020, the first box substation of the first phase was moved to basis, and the levelling, installation, and connection of the equipment was completed. On the 14th of the same month, the first set of turnouts began to be laid. On the 17th, the platform design plan was released.[9] On the afternoon of 11 December, the beam and slab erection of the first bridge of the T1 line was completed. This marked that the rail laying construction of the first phase had entered a comprehensive stage.[10] In the same month, the Operations Control Center (OCC) completed the structural capping. In January 2021, the subgrade pile foundation of the first phase was completed.
    The first phase, a 10.6 kilometres (6.6 mi) long stretch from Jiaxing South railway station to Fanggong Road Binhe Road stop (Chinese: 纺工路滨河路站), opened on 25 June 2021. From opening until 7 October 2021, passengers could travel for free. It extended for 1 station (0.6 kilometres (0.37 mi)) to Jiaxing railway station on 15 January 2022. actually you could just tap your shanghai metro card for the tram for they're both part of the China T-Union, which covers over 330 cities' metro and bus system.

    I am living in Jiaxing zhejiang province,Do you know Jiaxing,it is top rural wealthest city in China,The countryside is brilliant,the city's population is just only one million ,welcome to Jiaxing.the location of jiaxing is similar to Suzhou,but the total GDP is less than 1 trillion rmb,but it could be one trillion soon.How could Jiaxing go to bankrupcy,If Jiaxing is going to bankrupcy,the whole country is in deep trouble.As Jiaxing is the only plate in Zhejiang province as wealthiest one in China,It was focus on agriculture,not as Suzhou for industrial zone.

    Nice video, Tim. Chinese transportation is really amazing, and this makes me want to take more trips. But you weren't tempted to take the "绿皮车" (Green-skinned train) all the way to Guangzhou?I once took hard-sleeper from Shanghai to Yinchuan (Ningxia), a trip of 31 hours. Quite fun, but I don't need to do that trip too often.

    Lovely video!
    Both Jiaxing Tram and Songjiang Tram are operated by Keolis, a French transportation company.
    Also, I highly recommend to spend more time at Jiaxing Railway Station. Unlike other standardized stations, Jiaxing station is a work of MAD Architects. The mordern-designed station building is surrounded by a large park. And there is a full-scale replica of the original 1907 station at its north entrance.

      Your statement is not true. This tram is actually produced in China with the introduction of technology from the French company Keolis, and is entirely operated by a Chinese company(Shanghai Songjiang Transportation Investment and Operation Group Co., Ltd.). It is impossible for a French company to operate in China alone, because China’s operating system is very mature (subway, high-speed rail)

      @@tonycanton5611 The trains are *MANUFACTURED* by a joint-venture company of Alstom in Shanghai (that's why they use Alstom Citadis model). The system is *OPERATED* by Keolis and Shentong Metro, and *INVESTED* by 松江交通投资运营集团 Google it before making ignorant comments.😅

      Bankruptcy is less likely to happen in China’s major cities and wealthy provinces……with the tax revenue these areas are receiving, they could literally double their debt and still be quite comfortable.
