Hits how you can fix it permanently if you have Auto Hold. - If parking brake button fails, turn off car, on next turning on, click on auto hold, it will release parking break when you try to move forward. - If you have issues with parking brake from t2t, use auto hold every time, it will activate brake each time you put out seat-belt, open drivers door or turn off the car. And it will also prevent your car from going back or forward on hills, just press brake ones.
This only works on cars that have a button for auto hold, my car does it automatically and there is no button. It’s basically always detecting auto hold. Also this wouldn’t fix the switch issue or the dash error which would be a MOT failure in the UK.

Excellent Video! informative and to the point - I just completed a rear brake service - I was getting the flashing EPB button and parking Brake light on dash and the annoying CHIME! I'm finding that the drivers side rear parking brake motor is not getting power to the wired connector - hooking up separate battery power to the left rear EPB motor it does activate using a couple wires direct to connector opens and close operates and moves freely. The (P) symbol comes on and the BRAKE blinks with the parking brake light same (P) symbol. I can drive without the warning lights by taking two fuses off but it turns off my traction control…
Removing fuses is never the answer, if this video doesn’t help them get it investigated as it’s most likely a different sensor or wiring fault somewhere along the line.
I haven't used my car for a while and the battery was dead. I purposely took the handbrake off and left it in gear while it was stood. Jumped the car off yesterday and got parking brake fault and yellow sign on dash with flashing parking brake switch and constant pinging whilst driving. Tried what you did on video but still doing it.
Most vw’s run diagnostics when you turn the car off so it’s ready to start the next time quicker, if you’ve had a low/flat battery at any point you’ll have other errors you’ll need to clear before the car will think everything is okay. First thing would be fully charged battery followed by code resets and then leave the key in ignition for a few seconds when switching it off, take key out, lock the car and then run through normal startup process. If it still does it then you may need a vagcom system (main dealers or specialists) to reset or diagnose any issues that may have occurred whilst it had no power.
So mine is having a faulty parking brake issue but with mine the p icon appears on the dash and since then my car will crank but will not start so randomly 3 wks later I tried to start it and this time the p icon was gone and the car started so I drove it home and then when I got ready to leave later on in the day it did the same thing all over again and will not start and the p icon is staying on the dash so I pressed the parking brake button and it worked but it will not release the brake at all and the car still will not start please help if you can
Car not starting won’t be related to the parking brake, that will be a separate issue you’ll need to diagnose. As for the parking symbol staying on the dash or not actually releasing when you manually deactivate, This sounds like a possible epb solenoid failure or the calliper has seized. Inspect the rear parking brakes and see if either are sticking and if so they’ll need the appropriate parts replacing. You can manually disengage the epb by disassembling the caliper but it’s not recommended as if it wasn’t faulty and you open it there’s a chance any dirt that gets in could resulting it failing shortly after
Did your symptoms match what I described? If not then you may have a different issue. The fault code seems strange, they normally with a letter, like P246e.
I get this periodically and the car refuses to start. Only by pulling the key out and back in again several times does the warning light go out and can start the engine. It then registers a fault code 01314. After clearing the code it comes back again several days later with the same faulty parking brake message. The parking brake still switches on and off with the switch okay as I can hear the electric motors running.
Did you ever find your problem? My switch light is on but flashing with the brake light. My parking brake is working perfectly fine though, like you said you can here it activate on/off and it clearly holds the car in place in neutral on a slope.
Press the button dead centre, not on the edges, or drive off with the door closed and your seat belt on, both methods should disable the parking brake.
My epb locked up a few months ago, I managed to reset it and drove home. Replaced the epb motor as it was cracked and letting in water. Since then I have nothing, motors not even turning when I press the button just the flashing symbols and fault warning. Changed the switch today, but made no difference. Crappy VW handbrake system !
Most likely corroded connections or a break in the cable if it’s doing nothing. Remove the motor and see if you can manually force it to retract. There are guides on how to disassemble and test the motor on UA-cam so try them perhaps. Definitely a terrible design but like dual mass flywheels unfortunately looks to be here to stay 🤦🏽♂️
@@MATechUA-cam Thanks for the reply, since my last message I have managed to take another look, and discovered the motors were not plugged in properly. All sorted now, working epb and no bonging or flashing lights!

What happening if I buy new swith and I have light, when I turn off engine light gone...😅
Light should be on when ignition is on, if it doesn’t the switch is faulty.
Me l was the same problem but after trying all methods it was the right side Handbrake who was broken and it locked my right wheels
I’ve heard a lot of stories about EPB’s locking up and stranding the vehicles, thankfully I haven’t had the issue myself.
So how did you fix it? Because my right wheeled is locked
Hey Buddy, I replaced the old one. But the yellow lamp is still turning on. And I read the problem. The code is 02945
Did your symptoms match what I described? If not then you may have a different issue.
The fault code seems strange, they normally with a letter, like P246e.
I get this periodically and the car refuses to start. Only by pulling the key out and back in again several times does the warning light go out and can start the engine. It then registers a fault code 01314. After clearing the code it comes back again several days later with the same faulty parking brake message.
The parking brake still switches on and off with the switch okay as I can hear the electric motors running.
Does the light on the switch itself illuminate?
@@MATechUA-cam Yes, the light on the switch works okay.
Your issue will be something else in that case, this method only works for faulty switches and that only occurs when the light on the switch goes out.
@@MATechUA-cam Okay, many thanks.
Did you ever find your problem? My switch light is on but flashing with the brake light. My parking brake is working perfectly fine though, like you said you can here it activate on/off and it clearly holds the car in place in neutral on a slope.
How do I get the parking brake off😢
Press the button dead centre, not on the edges, or drive off with the door closed and your seat belt on, both methods should disable the parking brake.
Mi breks after 40 km folig down and breks on the bottom ...no error on the dashboard
Take your car to a garage and get it checked.
I replaced the bottom but the ligth still on😢
Is the light illuminated when pressed? If not then the button still isn’t working correctly.
@@MATechUA-cam the ligth is iluminated .
The ligth is on in the dashboard
Thanks

My brake lights stay on... I have the same model but, USA
Different issue, get it checked out.
Good man:))

My handbrake works perfectly yet light is on, and when i press it pings, rear pads are worn do u think thats whats causing this?
Have you tried the method in this video?

I don t understand what i have to do , i have the same problem
It’s explained in the video
Bullshit button considering that's robbery in Canada, VW would get any non car person 400-1000 easily for a faulty shit button. They just scoop $ out of your pocket! Worse than their diesel emission issue!
Not as bad as Hyundai vehicles with their last second braking systems locking up at 120 km/h on an open road.
My brakes is soft without errors, oil is full ...I meen it's mein brakes cylinder..
Get your car checked, this isn’t what the video is for
