Fun Fact: David Tennant had trouble saying words ending in "oon" without reverting to his Scottish accent. Apparently the writers were deliberately messing with him.
😂😂 Now I'm hoping Big Finish, whenever they start doing 12th Doctor stories will make Capaldi appear with the Judoon so we can hear him say that in his accent
Darth Erudius It's true, David Tennant was telling that story in an interview once, I think it may have been on Graham Norton but I can't remember for sure.
Fun Fact, the writers knew David struggled with his accent on words ending in the oon sound. So they wrote the line "a Judoon platoon upon the moon", to mess with him. I always liked Martha, she never gets enough credit but she was on of my favourites
she was the first companion I ever saw since my father was watching it for a while but the first time I saw doctor who was this episode (don't worry I watched it from the start of the new series after I got hooked but technically the first episode I ever saw was the first martha episode even if it was completely by accident)
Did you know the actress who plays Martha also was in Doctor Who season 2 episode 12 working at Torchwood. She was one of the black girl worker that was under control by the Cybermen!!!!
@@marvelboi3416 Yep. Not unusual for doctor who to bring back people who played other characters. However this case is crazy man. Shes in 2 episodes in a row as different characters lol
Martha is awesome. She saves the Doctor's ass more than once and doesn't crave recognition for it. Unlike someone later on who shall remain Clara...I mean nameless.
Martha is terribly underrated. Fans literally don’t like her because she replaced Rose. Martha is amazing. Likely braver and smarter than most companions. Enjoy her while she’s around guys 🙌🏼
The only problem i had with Martha was her clinginess to the doctor early on while near the end of her run it got way better. In my opinion my favorite actual companions go from 1.Amy/Rory 2.Jack tied Donna 3.Martha and Rose tied. 4.Clara None of them are bad in any way i like them all but my preference are in that order. Rose had a decent storyline and relationship with the doctor but not as good as some make it out to be, Martha was a bit annoying when she fell for the doctor but got better, Clara was amazing in some ways but near goddam awful in others especially in the twelfth incarnation of the doctor, Donna just had one of the best character developments in the series and the conclusion of it was sad and well done but she was also fairly annoying early on, Amy and Rory were just to me some of the best companions in new DW just because of their relationship with the doctor being more than just companions and actually escalating to family, Jack is just plain likeable and every time he joins the doctor you know it was going to be a good episode.
+Brian Rodriguez Regarding New who my ranking is similar, though I take Martha over Rose and Jack over Donna to have less ties (I could rank Amy over Rory, since I kinda like her more, but I won't). Early Clara could actually rise to rank 2 or 3, while later Clara is dead last, so same in that regard as well.
We don't like her because she had this drippy unrequited love situation, which could only serve to make her look bad after the reciprocal emotions of Rose and the Doctor. Also because Freema unfortunately has acting abilities closely resembling a plank of wood. After her, Donna, whose relationship with the Doctor was entirely platonic, was so refreshing.
I liked Martha but her pining over the doctor was just really annoying to me. Her lines like "you had to fall for a human and it wasn't me" or "oh she was blonde, what a surprise" just made me roll my eyes to the back of my head. If it wasn't for that then she would probably be one of my favourite companions, and with full episode where there was non of that sh*t she was really great.
She probably gets flack b/c she's the replacement for a widely liked companion. I think the 11th doctor's last companion gets a lot of flack for the same reason. Of 10's companions Martha is my least favorite but i don't actually dislike her. It's Tennant's last companion > rose > martha for me. but they're all good imo
People dislike her cause she gets a bit clingy at times and it's kind of weird, but on the whole I've always really liked her and Donna both. Plus I absolutely love Martha's theme.

That opening reminded me of when Captain Picard from Star Trek TNG met the Doctor. He did ask, "Doctor Who?" like most people, he asked, "You're a doctor of What, exactly?" (from the graphic novel crossover.)
Its funny doing a rewatch of this series and seeing Calvin sick at the beginning now we're in a post covid world. Guarantee we all went to work sick as hell before 2020 but now even if you have just a sniffle folks are more wary
I have yet to dislike a single companion (I didn't see all companions of the first and second doctor though), I even liked Adric and Mel, so there was never a chance I could dislike Donna, but she's not one of my favourites either.
donna was an amazing character...no romance BS, just plain fucking around with your buddy......her arc was amazing. i still get a bit teary eyed watching "turn left". that ep was so dark for a doctor who episode.
I'm pleased you guys like this episode because It is very good episode. It's a great start for a series. This series IMO is a lot better than the last with better quality episodes. I think you guys are going to enjoy this series.
Incidentally, today is Bram Stoker's birthday, the author of Dracula! I have no proof, but I assume that Davies named the character Mr. Stoker in honor of Bram Stoker because of this episode's blood-sucking nature.
According to Wikipedia "Mr. Stoker was intended by Russell T Davies to be a reference to the character Mr Stoker from the 1989 series Children's Ward, on which he was a producer. However, the design department saw this as a reference to Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, so the sign 'B. Stoker' was placed on the office door during production."
For you Blind Wave guys, yea, The First Doctor started wth a grand-daughter. They were hiding out on Earth and kidnapped her school teachers in the very first episode. The four are the first group. Yes she is Gallifreyan
The Judoon: Back in season 16 of the original Who, The Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) and the First Romana (Mary Tamm) had an episode (four, actually) called 'The Stones Of Blood'. Part of the plot involved a race of Intergalactic judges called the Megara. They were sparkly things floating in the air, and if they judged you guilty of almost anything the sentence was Death. What goes around comes around. Sex with a Time Lord: At the end of season nine of the original series was a six-part story called 'The Time Monster'. In the last episode they made it pretty clear that the Master had sex with the Queen of Atlantis. They couldn't be too specific, given the era, but I think it was obvious despite the taboos involved.
What do you mean ‘More stuff for Torchwood to cover up’? The old Torchwood was technically destroyed in the Season 2 finale, then Jack revamped and changed it all as you saw in the few Torchwood episodes you’ve seen.
'Silly' things like the radiation being expelled from the Doctor's shoe is an inheritance from the series's origins as a product of the 1960s British (arguably English) culture. Keep in mind the context of the time. Doctor Who is written by the same generation and artistic/cultural pool as the people who were writing the Goon Show, in the same decade as the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and I am the Walrus. To try to square this show, in either it's original phase or post-2005, with big budget American shows is a non-starter.
Martha is good but I love Donna. She's the only companion that's not Hot for Doc and is willing to slap him around if he gets too silly, and she doesn't take shit from anyone, even bitches trying to kill her.

Guarantee we all went to work sick as hell before 2020 but now even if you have just a sniffle folks are more wary
oh yeah Shane the doctor DANCES
The title is also a reference to an 80s comedy double act here in the UK of the same name - comprised of Mel Smith and Grif Rhys Jones
I loOVE MARTHA SO MUCH she deserved better
I'm not liking all this shit talk about Donna
You're gonna regret treating her like that in the future
Asphyxia. xD ikr
Asphyxia.
Donna Noble is a horrible character. She's too bitchy.
Asphyxia. “If she remembers just for a second her mind will burn and she will die” years later still makes me sad.
Is Shane not getting mixed up with Torchwood? Where Owen uses that alien aftershave and gets with that couple?
Hey guys, as you are watching Rick and Morty too, this episode remind me the one with the crazy party (you know, that one with Abradolf Lincler)
Oh, it's so nice to see some love for Martha!
6:25 im asuming that was a podcast reference? as that was oneof the questions from...episode 7/8
I'm pleased you guys like this episode because It is very good episode. It's a great start for a series. This series IMO is a lot better than the last with better quality episodes. I think you guys are going to enjoy this series.
Yes series 3!!! Can't wait for them to get to Blink!!!
Series 3 is a mixed bag. It starts slow but the last 6 episodes are among my all-time favorites.
Imo series 2 is much more of a mixed bag, I think all of these episodes are decent to spectacular
This is a really under appreciated episode in my opinion. One of the better series openers.

sharks: am I a joke to you?
Best modern age companion.

Best noise I've heard today.

Judoon takes off helmet.
Eric: What the f*ck!?
XD
For you Blind Wave guys, yea, The First Doctor started wth a grand-daughter. They were hiding out on Earth and kidnapped her school teachers in the very first episode. The four are the first group. Yes she is Gallifreyan
S3 yayayaya I love Judoon so much! and that blood sucking always makes me weak af :s
I have absolutely no idea what Shaun is talking about with Eccleston Oo
Martha was great and incredibly good looking too.
8:00 - - JUDOON PLATOON ON MOON Starring Rhino Neil.
this is the season where I fell in love with Doctor Who
The Doctor took off his tie and traveled back to earlier in the day to give her the tie.
The itsy bitsy spider came up the water spout. Down came the Thames, and drowned the spider to death!
This season has some of my favourite episodes in it. Can't wait til you get to them. Dun dun dun dun. Dun dun dun dun. Dun dun dun dun.
I love that they made a fake hospital but used where a very real hospital is
'Silly' things like the radiation being expelled from the Doctor's shoe is an inheritance from the series's origins as a product of the 1960s British (arguably English) culture.
I can't wait for you guys to watch the 4th Series with 10 and Donna. There are some really good episodes in that season.
I am so glad they don't read comments any more as people can't help spoiling fun surprises.
Laura Kay are you infering about my comment or everyone else? Lol
Aaron laugh, the wheeeezeee, sound like a dying caar lol
19:34 There are several real world animals that have more than one.
Jadoon Platoon Upon the Moon
The writers wrote that line totally because Tennant had trouble saying oooo sounds in an English accent.
Jadeleath In his Scottish accent this is indeed true :-)
3:20 Aaron pretending not to remember Donna's name. lol
Martha is good but I love Donna. She's the only companion that's not Hot for Doc and is willing to slap him around if he gets too silly, and she doesn't take shit from anyone, even bitches trying to kill her.
12:55 Vote Saxon
Hope u guys feel better soon
I love those freakin' Rhinos !
Also that Disturbed intro lol
I like the Judoon, but fuck me if they're not a lazy recreation of the Ogrons
"I guess, they thought she was a bad idea" about Donna. Just you wait.
