    Dave's Killer Bread is awesome amd taste as well as the company itself being awesome. Dave is a real person who was a felon and had a hard time getting a job so he started baking. Now I think like 1/3 of their employees have some sort of conviction that prevents them from finding work. I really love that they help people that way.

    I recently started making bread and this seed bread is the BEST i have ever made!! Easy to follow directions and results are out of this world! Healthy, nutritious, tasty, and soft! Follow the recipe carefully and you won't go wrong. Thank you Carol.

    This bread is a game changer. It took me a couple of tries to get the right density and fluff but wow it is good. I have even gone so far as to sprout and grind my own whole grains.

    That bread is gorgeous. I love Dave's seed bread brand also. Sprouted wheat also preforms in digestive system more like vegetables than like wheat or white flour. It is a good type of flour to use if you are a diabetic. It breaks down slower and doesn't create the same response in blood sugar levels. Do your research for more indepth information. I wouldn't want anyone to just take this information and assume it's the right thing for everyone.

    Just found you as I was searching for applesauce! Definitely going to try this bread as I usually make a french style baguette. Don’t have vital wheat gluten but I’ll use the KA special patent flour (already high gluten) that I currently have and hopefully it works! New subscriber, thank you!!

    I made this except I skipped a step. Instead of laying it flat and rolling it up into a loaf, I just punched it down then just put it in the loaf pan to rise and it takes shape of the pan. I only put seeds on the top as I didn't want them all over but I really plastered them on the top, lots of seeds yummmmmyyyyyy.
    I am all for making something as easy as possible and turning out just as good. It turned out delicious thank you ffor the recipe and turtorial.

    I love making homemade bread! I will try this!! Also, did you know that seeds also have bound nutrients in them and are not released unless they are soaked or sprouted? Can’t imagine how nutrient dense this would be with the sprouted seeds too. 😋

    Carol - I am making this bread on a fairly regular basis now - it is sooooo good! Could you share what sort of bag you store it in - I am curious because it doesnt look like a plastic storage bag - more like cellophane?? Thank you for this video,

    Dave Dahl's entrepreneurial journey began in prison. In 1987, he was addicted to drugs and incarcerated for home burglary. For 15 years he bounced from one sentence to the next.
    But in the mid-2000s, Dave finally returned to his family bakery where he was inspired to make bread - organic, nutty, and slightly sweet.
    He sold the loaves at farmers markets and shared his story of recovery on the package - a branding decision that attracted fans and media attention.
    In 2015, the Dahl family sold the business for $275 million dollars.

    I made this and it was incredibly delicious! My husband raved (and that's unusual). I'm new at this, so it would have helped to have the directions written - I watch it every time I make this now. Hopefully I'll just remember after a while - LOL

      Bonnie Carpenter in my defense, I don’t write out the full recipe bc a lot of people will take the recipe and not watch the video. That defeats the purpose of doing a video. I spend a lot of time developing and testing my recipes and a bunch more time to film and edit. 😊

      You can use 100g starter and use 50g less water and 50g less bread flour. That is, if your starter is 100% water and flour. Mine is, so it is always easy to substitute in recipes. Good luck

    Hi what kind of yeast do you put in the bowl? Is it instant yeast or active dry yeast? In the description box, it says dry active yeast, but I was wondering if it needs to be activated with warm water ahead of time. Thank you.

      You can use either one and it doesn’t have to be activated first. Active dry yeast will just take longer to rise 😊

    Hi. This bread looks so yummy, but have a question. What is the vital wheat gluten, what does it do and can i make the bread without it? I live in a small somewhat remote area and have never seen it in the stores before. Thanks, cant wait to try it

      lyn smith hi! Vital wheat gluten is the protein found in flour. When added to whole grain breads it supports the structure, improves texture and helps the rise. But you can certainly make this bread without it 😊. You can purchase it online from King Arthur Flour as well as Amazon and other websites.     I make my own bread flour by subbing some of the all purpose flour for vital wheat gluten. It does make a difference

      @@freethinker2976 For every cup of AP flour, I remove 1 1/2 teaspoons and replace it with 1 1/2 teaspoons vital wheat gluten. It’s not much. I got that ratio from Google. 😁

    I heard back from King Arthur. They don't carry the sprouted wheat flour anymore. Bummer! My bread is in the oven as I write this... So excited!

    Where do you find the sprouted wheat flour? I looked on King Arthur site and none. I tried to wet the bread with seeds and most fall off, I will use egg white or egg the next time.

    The nuts and seeds in Killer Dave's aren't as large. Could you put them in a blender or Cuisinart to make them a little finer?

    Dave is a real person. He used to be a criminal, and in fact still is. I think he worked in the kitchen in prison. When he was released, he started this company. After the company becoming successful, he then got in trouble with the law again. I don't know if he is currently out of prison or not.
