Installed with English Oak Beam, Rustic split faced slate back, two piece Black slate hearth, Fireboard sides, full stainless steel liner & HETAS certificate of compliance.
This thing can hold a fire!! I burn a lot of wood and it holds up. I would recommend this product.
Great video. If I have to do a dusty job like that I put an old chimney fan on the top. Stops the fine dust from spreading.
Inside walls what board and adhesive please . 🙏 good video
Awesome work!
very nice!! may I please know how much it costs?
nice video. I love the background music.
Awesome how much does this cost please
Why are these type of wood stove installations not done in the USA?
Did you use standard drywall on the sides? And what kind of stone is that you're using for base? I've got a regular fire place and I want to remove it and install wood stove in case we see another winter like the last.... would be nice to have as additional heat source and place to cook on top of if I were to loose power for any extended period of time.. Great looking installation.
I want to do the same - have you already done it?
@@daivernon7346 Sadly I've not done the install Dai. I'm considering relocating but waiting for a couple other things to fall in place. If I end up sticking around here and do the install I'll write a response once I figure that piece out.
I have to ask but why ain't you using a acro with a strong boy to support all that weight above before taking all them bricks out?
Dont need one
Theres a brick arch in the breast that you cant see. This is part of the original build. On most properties the fire openings have been narrowed and brought lower over the years using additional bricks
Any support to chimney when putting in the lintel
Thinking of doing mine..there isnt one in just a ply surround.
What was above the wood stove? I couldn't see in the video what horizontal material the chimney went tgrough.
Is that a capped gas pipe? I have a gas pipe running infrount of my chimney breast at floor height could I Bury it in the fire half?
Hi, how much will be removed gas fireplace and installing stove wood?
Great job and thanks for the video. Just to clarify, did you put the hearth stone down and then decorate, plaster etc down to it?
Hi, did you put a bead on the angles or just plaster up to them?
Hi I want to fit my own stove I already have an existing fireplace in the house can you offer any help or advice with regard doing it
Love the video, trying to source the tiles at the rear of the fireplace please?
Limekiln100 thank you. Most tile shops have the split faced slate now. This one is split faced rustic. Try Topps tiles.
Great piece of footage . Would you do anything different , having played it back yourself ? Do you ever duct in air , to reduce the loss of room warmed air ?
Hello thank you for your post. I see where your coming from with externally air fed stoves. I don't know how much of an effect on heat output if it was drawing cold air externally than re using warm air internally. Interesting thought. At the minute though a direct air kit to the back of the stove is not recognised by building control so another air vent still has to be fitted. The UK is a bit behind when it comes to stove technology with the likes of Scandinavia externally air feeding and going straight off the back of stoves horizontally through walls is the norm. I think once recognised by building regs a lot of new builds will all externally air feed and it might make a big difference then.
Thank you for the reply . I went into a house in Lutterworth in the 70's where air was being taken from the floor cavity to get round a very well set up collection of double glazing & door seals .
The UK has the advantage & disadvantage of being in a temperate climate , the Scandis , are one ( or two ) jumps ahead , 'cos they have to be . It was going into a shopping centre , where the double doors acted as a 20 person air lock got me .
Could you build a surround out of concrete blocks with brickslips?
If you wanted to you could yes.
How much was this jazz?
Hi
Great video. Is it a plaster board on sides? If I want clean tidy look all around can plaster board go even behind? And what would you finish with, paint?
Thanks
Peter Balascak you can get dry wall adhesive or dot n dab which lets you stick plasterboard straight on brickwork. Just make sure you use plenty and use a little level. Probably too late hope it went well lol
To finish you would either plaster it or use scrim tape and joint cement. Then paint it.
Probably easyer to make up a mdf box at the correct dimensions then put in into the fireplace then put angle beads on the outside edges and plaster the chimney breast. You have to paint both sides of MDF to stop it bowing (incase anyone does this) 😁
Trippy Uk MDF inside a fireplace opening with a live woodburning stove? Doesn't sound ideal, at worst potentially a fire risk surely? Best bet would be scamolex board- the reeded version in particular is very attractive for a fireplace opening.
Plasterboard is classed as a combustible material so definitely not! Try using a cement board like AQUAPANEL.
@@stgeorge6947 Plaster would crack in about three seconds. Board it with cement board or lime render it.
when taking out the chimney breast do you not need to support the wall at any point im making my fireplace wider
Adam Ward this builders opening size is fine to be unsupported as there is a structural arch above. Any winder and it may be a good idea to support.

I'm thinking of constructing a false chimney breast at home
To keep up with codes, can I build it out of timber and line it all in hardie board then use brick slips on the whole of the recess... will be using insulated flue from the fire through the ceiling and into roof space... will probably get hetas fitters to do pipe work though... just wondered if timber was in code to use ........
Darren Devey timber couldn't be used behind the hardie backer within the fireplace chamber but could be used above where the insulated flue would be. Your better off using blockwork so you have something a bit more substantial or if you want to go down the stud route steel stud is best and can be used to construct the chamber as well. The hetas fitter would need good access to install the stove so if building out of stud leave the plasterboard off the breast so he can get in to do what he's got to do.
+The Cosy Stove Company thanks for the advise, much appreciated
How long is that silver chimney pipe? Going to the top of the roof?
Will depend on the height of the chimney.
Hi how much on average would something like this cost to get done , and it it any cheaper / more expensive to do it when there’s already a whole from a gas fire place .
Interested to know this also?
Me too lol
Usually about £1000 to have a flue put in. My mother managed to spend double that somehow. Stove cost is on top of this
There's a guy in my area doing installations for around£500
I need mine fitted too pls
Were do you source the wood mantel from
What is the average price for all this work don in UK
Eleventy-billion. Ninety-billion if north of Watford.
wozzlepop it’s funny because it’s true 😂
How much would a job like this cost and how long.?
mcxravin The honest answer is far too much! I’ve just been quoted £2,300 for this exact job, without the cost of the actual fire! I’m going to do it myself and buy the materials online for about 40% of the quote.
Is normal for chimney brest to get hot when using a stove??
@@theshootist3873 how'd you get on with your paper thin Chinese liner? £2300 is a fair price for that. Fireline stoves are shit too.
ryanwinter7368 £990 for the materials,?including a new slab, £355 for the stove all done & dusted. Thank you for your concern.
@@theshootist3873 What liner did you end up buying?
Hi what camera are you using there?
Can you use normal render mix on the inside of the brick work and then tile it
Hi Keri no reason why you couldn't.
Don't use cement render. You would need lime render to prevent cracking. Lime render is softer so it can move and expand with the heat.
@@thecosystovecompany7402 I thought normal plaster cracks under extreme heat?…
It's nice but installing a stove inside a chimney is a non sense ! You lose lots of energy and just basically only heat the chimney ! A stove IN FRONT OF the chimney is much more efficient : the stove pipes produce a lot of heat (L shape for example).......
What board are you using and adhesive
It's more than likely 12mm Hardiebacker cement board. Don't know what the adhesive is.
