Excellent webinar. This type of training and Soundcraft's tutorial program are two dimensions of the company that put it on a higher plane than other manufacturers. I learned a ton from this duo! Thanks!
The web tutorials state that the HDMI port is for directly plugging in a monitor instead of using WiFi or Ethernet, also a mouse can be connected via the rear usb.
I wish he actually talked more about what some of these things actually do. Like, how does a para EQ work? It's a weird video because it includes some completely 101 level stuff about running a sound check, but it also assumes a good degree of knowledge about a lot of fairly technical things. One thing that bugs me is that my bluegrass band used a really basic analog mixer for years. Setting gain was just about getting to that nice "green just hitting yellow" spot. However, the gain colors on the Soundcraft are yellow, mostly orange, and some red. I can dial in the gain for our four-piece bluegrass band in less than ten minutes on our old analogue mixer, but I can't figure out the Soundcraft gain system at all.
Another opinion: The USB device port should be Type B because it's more robust than Type C. If you're going to use Type C make sure it is recessed into the body or has some other form of strain relief. Also make sure the USB port on the PCB is a common catalog part and easy to replace with basic soldering tools.
I'm new to a digital mixer, my question is: my band is using wireless in ear monitors, I see there are 4 aux outputs on the 16, can we actually send a custom monitor mix to each member of the band, ie: can I send more guitar to my guitar player and lesson the bass in his,,,,, while sending more vocal to my bass player and increasing the kick drum,,,,, increasing both vocal and bass in mine? On my analog mixer whatever I set for monitor is what we all got. And it was rarely agreed on 😂,,,,,, forgot to mention that I will have 3 different transmitters so we each get a different mix
I gather the two side USB ports were supposed to be for a keyboard and mouse because that's the only way an HDMI port makes sense. A 2x2 class-compliant USB interface would have been far more useful. I hope that's clear in hindsight. Let's hope for the refresh to come soon and with that update.
Hello, does anyone know exactly in wich position the master L and R rotary knobs controls should be, to reflect the same signal output as the master meters??? Thanks
On the refresh, the USB device port should-aside from being a 2x2 audio interface-also initialize an onboard NIC so that if my PC's Ethernet jack is being used to stream I still have a way to connect by wire without putting the mixer on an outside network, and so that I don't have to carry a USB > Ethernet dongle.
Most unprofessional review ever! Horrible sound quality.... Reviewer: I don’t remember.....,I don’t know.....,why it doesn’t work..... Come on Soundcraft! Some of information is useful, but it looks, like this guy see this mixing console for the first time.... Sad....
Be kind to the Radio Shak guy he's just explaining the self explained screen. I believe everyone that can read may know same as he is trying to explain
i'm still confused about it's gain setting. Normally in analogue consoles we set the gain for 0. I'm not sure that for Ui16 what value we should aim for?
@@Bazan14 That's what I'd do with my band's analogue mixer, but the Soundcraft has a bizarre yellow-to-red color scheme, and it's mostly just really simialr shades of orange. It's a complete disaster to try and set gain.
@@tlkshowhst I always used -13db prefader on the XR18. That would usually just start to bring the yellow. Do you like the interface the 24ui uses over the xair format?
Hi! Can someone PLEASE help me??!! at 12:08 you can see the Local, Global and Save To Show buttons at the bottom of the screen... REALLY handy! I have used them on the UI24, but I now own a UI16 and can't find how to access them. I've looked at other videos on UA-cam with views of the Views screen and, like me, they don't have the buttons either. At 19:00, I see the firmware of Austin's UI16 is the same as mine!!!!! So please tell me where I can activate them, PLEASE?!!!!!
I have just found that viewing in Safari on iPad, the scaling was at 100% and the buttons were off the bottom!!! I changed it to 85% in the iPad Safari settings and THERE THEY WERE!!!!!!
This guy speaks about as well as every awkward IT person I’ve ever had the unfortunate luck to encounter. Hey sound craft... I could do it 100 times better and probably for less money. It can’t be that hard to find a salesman who is also a teacher.
The wedge placement for cardioid vs supercardioid is fine in theory but it all goes out the window when the artist can't leave the mic in the stand. They just have to hold the mic, move around the stage, wave the mic all over the place while they are not actually singing, and then complain that they can't hear themselves in the wedges because you had to fader-ride their aux channel to compensate for their bad mic technique.
Could he be anymore uninterested in this product? This is a horrible representation of SoundCraft. I like the UI products and he's doing a horrible job. I hope they didn't use him anymore

This video has greatly helped me with getting a better idea for my Ui24R. Thanks for this!
The web tutorials state that the HDMI port is for directly plugging in a monitor instead of using WiFi or Ethernet, also a mouse can be connected via the rear usb.
It has never been implemented so HDMI port is useless.

How do you access all 58db of gain for the mic preamps? The sliders only do +10db.
By the way,in new update,we would like to get function for double pedal, like delay on/off and tap tempo...
Please!

Yes, each Aux can be individually mixed.

To me ,soundcraft could give fader keyboard which lock to avoid unauthorized control or touch since operating system system via online
How can you insert or move a channel? Lets say I want to move channel 15 and put it in between channels 4 & 5 to make it channel 5?
You can copy the settings in ch15 and paste them in ch5
i'm still confused about it's gain setting. Normally in analogue consoles we set the gain for 0. I'm not sure that for Ui16 what value we should aim for?
You don't really have to set the gain to 0. Set the gain to the value that gives you the best signal (green hitting yellow as an example).
-6dB prefader is ideal

how to mix that video sound
Cómo agregar un canal a 2 subgrupos en la ui 16 para hacer compresión paralela
Irony: when a webinar presenter talking about high quality monitoring/sound projects sounds like absolute shit!
This guy speaks about as well as every awkward IT person I’ve ever had the unfortunate luck to encounter. Hey sound craft... I could do it 100 times better and probably for less money. It can’t be that hard to find a salesman who is also a teacher.
Get a external router and youll be Golden.
Is there a posibility to AUTOMATE it live?
Imagine an audio engineering company using a trash COD mic for a webinar.
Should I be concerned the sound is horrible in the vid😂😂
Inputs 1 and 2 are specifically designed for guitars. So why would you put drums in there?!?
This guys an "Audio Engineer"??? um.... LMAO this video alone makes me want to sell my ui16 wow, couldn't have found someone better??
If this is what Soundcraft considers compelling content, I don't want any. Love the response about HDMI and firmware update. Right. SAMSUNG Wake UP!
You want to be compelled by Soundcraft? Maybe try an old Hollywood movie.
I don't add a lot of comments on UA-cam, but this was unwatchable. Please get a better narrator.
Austin really knows his shit, but in this case sounds unprepared. The presentation sounds a bit disjointed.
Please pay more attention on sound quality of your webinar videos. It's really hard to follow especially for none English speakers. Idea is great tho.

I would expect something better than this. Really poor webinar/tutorial.
