Extreme Ghostbusters was an animated series that aired for one season in 1997. It was loosely followed canon from The Real Ghostbusters series from 1986. extremeghostbusters.org
I remember when this first came back in 1997 my first impression of this at the time was it's gonna suck it's not gonna be as good as The Real Ghostbusters and never really gave it a chance to really see what it's like. Now years later I may finally give this series a chance since I'm re-watching every episode of The Real Ghostbusters at home and on my smartphone while at work.
That was my fave too. The newbies were jerks to the team the whole time very shortly after they first arrived and admiring seeing the real deals for themselves, although some of the newbies felt differently of meeting the Real Ghostbusters in person regardless of their fame to New York and the world obviously due to personal pride the newbies had.
The show wasn't too bad but it was just bad. The series didn't last long because of how poorly made the series was. They had the original voice actors from the original series in it fortunately that made it a bit better but it was not enough to keep the show going. Let alone the outlandish looks and styles of the new ghostbusters made it frightening to most fans and parents preventing them from letting their kids watch it. They especially didn't do our favorite spud Slimer much justice either.
A live action Extreme Ghostbusters would be a great movie tbh

I never saw this or the ghostbusters movies as a kid. I saw some when becoming a teenager

If they do make another movie, they should put one Ghostbuster in a wheelchair. Show some action with a cripple.
