The fact that russel and prince ( freddie and duke’s bases respectively) came to the tall-y-llyn to celebrate the occasion and join the whistle chorus is absolutely spectacular.

How on earth did they manage to keep those engines running for so long? 150 is very old for a steam engine
Fun fact now the engines are nearly 154 years old
also when they whistle too loud i think their whistle cap will blow out of them like a rocket.

As the first successfully preserved railway the Talyllyn gave heart to preservation movements elsewhere in the world. It is because of the line and the early volunteers on it that we have so many things to enjoy. So long live the Talyllyn. I would love to be able to see it for real.

Buy a copy of Tom Rolt's book "Railway Adventure" to read about the early preservationists who saved the line from closure in the early 1950's.

Nah, every bit of rolling stock has been made to only have access on the left side, because that's the side all the platforms are on

All the engines face east, she was working a return (westward) journey and the TR doesn't have turning facilities.
Since there is no turntable facilities, the engine just runs around it’s train and couples to the other side.
