Thanks for watching and commenting guys after hearing my thoughts, I respect you dudes even more now. And awesome can’t wait to hear the rest of the new tracks!
@@mathieubolduc2022 Ok so he moved to Scotland to become a full time tatoo artist and work on his cars. I'm going to miss him. I really liked his vocals
Ayy the boys are backkk. This has me interested in more from them. They always have the coolest soundscapes in their music. The original vocalist is back so I think that's why he keeps saying did you miss me.
For me personally, I find James to be a better screamer where as the previous vocalist Jake was way better with cleans. Both have their perks, but overall I'm interested to see what direction they do take the new material with the lineup change again.
I personally like Jake more overall. I think Jake had a better range, James can scream higher but his highs are so fuckin annoying. Sounds like a opossum screeching at times
i love them both - i fell in love with Hikari first so i'm pretty partial to Jake's vocals, i really do prefer his cleans and i think his gutturals are sick and his writing is amazing, but James is more capable of delivering live and i think a lot of the fans are happy he's back
It’s so hard for bands to “experiment”... they do it and then they get hate from everybody “cUz ThEy diDnT sTiCK tO tHEir RooTs” they don’t experiment and then everybody says they are stale 🤷♂️ can’t please everybody
It’s very true. For me I want every band to experiment not just OAA! But I understand they have a dedicated fan base, this is just my (unpopular) opinion
With each band having new albums, what a show Oceans Ate Alaska & Boundaries touring together would be...ahh...a man can dream. But that would be a goosebump factory for sure.
Oceans Ate Alaska was the band that got me into metalcore when they first released Floorboards and then subsequently Lost Isles. Seeing James back in the band makes me sooo happy!
I 100% agree Since Jake left I've been listening to hikari almost everyday I know james is good at highs and stuff, but I have a "deeper" connection to Jake and his voice
I wish they kept that beat throughout the whole song instead of just 20 seconds at the beginning/end. That would actually be unique whereas this just felt like a coppout. However, if this is just a teaser for what the album is gonna be like and they expand on that sound more, I’ll be very excited to listen. There’s a ton of potential here.
I saw a post on reddit a year ago on someone who got to hang out with chris turner and he got to listen to some of the album instrumentally and he said that this album has a lot of cool lofi and hip hop elements used like the japenese instruments in hikari. Chris also said in a livestream that this song isn't the softest of the album but it is middle ground so there will be more heavy songs.
Ngl, I kinda was missing some time signature changes. I consider them mathcore. To me, this sounded like they were just trying to sound like BMTH and Wage War instead of their own sound.
Hey man unrelated question but what do you put in your hair it looks great. My hair is currently that length but I don't have the right stuff to put inside I think
I honestly thought this one flowed better than most of their others. i thought the transitions were incredibly smooth. like it was a short song, that felt short, but also felt like a complete 5 minute song. not sure if that makes sense. But ya. I do agree a little about the cleans. That was the only part that seemed a little forced, but it wasn't too forced idk.
The song is a banger!!!🔥🔥🔥 Can't wait for the album, James being back is the best thing that could happen to the band. Its not OAA without him. also love the protest mug 🤘🤘
I more or less agree with everything you were saying here, although I loved Hikari and the cleans on that album. for a first single I think it's not bad, a little weak also, but I'm ready to hear what else is coming from them
I agree on the cleans, but from what I've heard on this tune, he's better than he was before, so that's something haha. His british accent used to be very prominent and the way he was pronouncing while singing was really... Well, simply not my kind of vocals, but the rest is so amazing that I never actually minded.
I'm sorry but I cannot agree with your opinion on the chorus' Yes A LOT of bands use clean chorus' but NOBODY does it like OAA, they are the pinnacle of the genre along with Veil Of Maya. THAT is the difference, everyone does the cleans but nobody has the total package in the way OAA and VoM does. I want OAA and VoM to succeed and be around for many years to come and lets face it, without the super catchy chorus' they will never make it past a certain mark and those two bands are too good to not become the biggest names in metal. With that being said Jake was way better at writing the super catchy melody, James screams might be better but Jake was a huge loss for the band, especially if Jake had really stepped up his game and improved his live performance.
Hi! 😀✌please please react to Villain Of The Story - "Enough" Villain Of The Story - "Labrat" Villain Of The Story - "Bloodshot" Are the best songs on the new album💚💛
Honestly all the reasons you disliked are pretty much apart of what makes them separate and its kinda their beauty. And also most people loved Hikari cause of Jake and his range particularly his cleans, so pop like. I understand some cant see beauty of this band and thats okay. I still dont see how people like old school rap
As soon as you hit the criticism about the clean section I was just sitting there shaking my head yep yep yep. The chorus felt insanely out of place, like they almost didnt wanna do it or put it in the song, but forced themself or something cause they felt they had too? Dont get me wrong James does have good clean vocals (Vultures and sharks example) but this song it felt odd.
Tbh, if you are looking for cleaner transitions, Oceans Ate Alaska ain't for you. I mean, wacky transitions are everything in mathcore and progressive metal (even in old school death metal), so it shouldn't be that bad if you're used to it.
Never been a fan of James cleans honestly. That doesn’t mean anything though. He is a beast with the mic. This song doesn’t do justice to the guitarists though. They are yet to show what they’re capable of. Those two dudes are insanely talented as well
Thanks for posting a reaction video bro. More new tracks coming soon!

my EXACT thoughts. Is it bad that I want both of them as vocalists at the same time? Haha
James - better highs
Jake - better lows, gutturals & cleans
I personally like Jake more overall. I think Jake had a better range, James can scream higher but his highs are so fuckin annoying. Sounds like a opossum screeching at times

@@alldayhazelofi not to mention Jake's breathing technique and stage presence.
God I missed that dudes highs!!
Good to have james back in the band hyped for the new album to what's to come

Glad James is back, Lost Isles is an insane album!!

I'm happy they're back. Now we need some new Plot in You. Thanks for reacting to this song!
I saw a comment on Reddit from someone who talked with the drummer and they said this is supposed to be the softest song from the album 💪
Sweeeeet
Hikari is one of my favorite albums ever. I can't believe Jake left
I feel the EXACT same way. He was outstanding. But apparently he left because he wanted his tattoo business to thrive
I 100% agree
Since Jake left I've been listening to hikari almost everyday
I know james is good at highs and stuff, but I have a "deeper" connection to Jake and his voice

I completely agree that the cleans were lacking in this song, however it was a banger nonetheless
I feel you on the cleans
"It was too short"
Dude...Chris's drums can only take so much.
Agree 100% on the cleans
Been sleeping on this band! I haven’t heard a lick of those music until this, and I thought it was really cool!
New Intervals
Ngl, I kinda was missing some time signature changes. I consider them mathcore. To me, this sounded like they were just trying to sound like BMTH and Wage War instead of their own sound.
I'm actually surprised you didn't totally love this song. But major respect for keeping it real!
Hey man unrelated question but what do you put in your hair it looks great. My hair is currently that length but I don't have the right stuff to put inside I think
I know he has great hair my boyfriend and him kinda have the same hair and I want him to do his hair like metalbirds
This shit slaps
I agree though, the cleans almost felt forced and out of nowhere. I still like it though.

React to Intervals please 😎 any song would work!
I agree. No one reacts to them. So good
OAA proves that you don't need to change your sound drastically to be great 😎

I know you said don't be disrespectful in the comment section, but I have to...I freakin agree with just about everything you said about this song.
Definitely still like it, but it sounds so quiet, it seems I can’t get it loud enough.
Sucks for the fans of Jake, but I’m glad he’s not the vocalist anymore
I agree on the cleans, but from what I've heard on this tune, he's better than he was before, so that's something haha. Yeah singing is always their weakest link imo. I personally don't mind the pop sound though
LANDMVRKS- Empty Place is gnarly. If you really want to see their diversity and talent in one song, it’s this one.

Yup and on this channel I never bullshit. I say in the review that I never listened to the first album, but I enjoyed some of Hikari
@@METALBIRB there weren’t as many cleans on Lost Isles as Hikari and was heavier, so you’d possibly enjoy it.
@@theBOSpaladin101 Hikari IS heavier and more technical. Lost Isles is a different thing.

The chorus wasn’t that catchy. That’s what was wrong with it for the most part. It wasn’t that interesting as a melody
Agreed my dude. I just think the clean vocals always sound the same. The cadence is always the same. I feel like they just force the singing in.
