Very good
Seems good to me. 😊

Can you do this for crazy paving?
Will it work on larger gaps (about 1cm) between the flags?
I don’t have a plastic membrane under my slabs. Am I still ok to use this method?
I built a Tiny Home extension here you can see that series here ua-cam.com/video/cnMC0ap_r-k/v-deo.html
Is sharp sand and cement okay and ive got about 1cm gaps just laid my patio recently myself! And need help with this bit i have load of sharp sand left over and also what did u do with all the access dry cement mix did u leave it there a couple off days, before cleaning off ?
Hi for this whole area you done how many bags of each in total did you use?
Thanks
All the information in in the video

can you tell me if 1 yr later you can pressure wash slabs without mix being washed out
Pressure wash the slabs but avoid the joint gaps. No matter how carefully you work, pressure washers are designed to remove particles from gaps.
What about the drainage? I think it will be difficult for the (rain) water to go under the soil.
When the slabs were laid, they should have a natural slope towards your drain to direct the water to the drainage source.
This is wicked. Going to have to try this over summer.. If we actually get some dry weather😂. Rookie question, does the same premise apply for brick driveways? Only moved in and I’ve done a fair bit of weeding on the drive, boiling water, salted it etc but they find a way of coming back
I tried here ua-cam.com/video/7CmExG0FDyY/v-deo.html
Thanks for the dry mix application to fill garden slab gaps. Your building sand is red and seems rather fine. We have construction sand here in the US and its not so fine and its not red. Can I still use this or must the sand be powdery rather than grainy? Wonder what to ask for at the Big Box store?
Builder's sand, also known as plasterer's, bricklayer's, or mason's sand, can vary in color depending on its origin. The color itself isn't crucial. If you request sand for rendering or for use between the layers of a brick wall, you should receive something similar.
Always butt slabs up when layed. Then there's no pointing needed. Because it Always comes out with frost over years .
We have block paving. All butted up real tight. Weeds still grow.
Brush rock salt in. Hey presto no weeds
The nature of it there will always be gaps even half a mm gap will allow weeds to grow. The idea is to fill the gap with this mix which means any seeds don't grab root. I still don't have Weeds
Just Rock Salt on its own ? Thanks
@@RaymondPhillimore-ig8ur Salt (any type) is good for killing weeds (and plants), but it will wash away at some point.
Hi there, great vid and tips, thank you. Ive just done this method but used sharp sand, problem im having is air gaps in dry mix between just 1 slab, i brush over the sides then half hour later air gaps again, always same slab the rest are fine. Hot weather here, doesnt seem to be drawing moisture from ground or very little. Any help or tips massivly appreciated inadvance. Praps i shud have used building sand? All best 👍👍
Not sure about sharp sand, i used building sand and that worked well for me
I've watched a few videos and the consensus seems to be sharp sand mix for laying, building sand mix for jointing.
Plastic membrane but moisture drawn up from where?
In the video, you can see that moisture is still being drawn up despite the plastic membrane. This is evident from the change in the mix color. Moisture is present both in the depth and the atmosphere.
So probably like condensation like you see when you fill glass with cold water. Moisture is everywhere I guess
So do you need a plastic membrane under the slabs or can this work without it?
No that’s not effective
@@makhan4908Which of the two options are you saying is not affective?
Will this work for a brick driveway? We are inundated with weeds growing between the gaps and ants excavating the sand out from the joints to build nests.
It will, just be sure to clear all the gaps of roots before you begin to stop old roots growing through
@@MrMakeStuff Thank you. A really clever idea.
I discovered that Weedol for weeds in lawns sprayed over the cracks where the ants are working gets rid of them pretty quickly but best to do it as soon as you see signs of the ants getting started.
@@MrOldhoot Thank you 👍
Can this be done on block paving?
Yes HSE old bleach & water to clean with soft brush wash off..sand cement rock salt mix brushed in when dry no weeds
Yes
Why didn't you compact it and fill it again until it reaches the top?
Not needed, with the dry mix it just fills the gap as you brush it. Think about sand filling an empty space to lift stones. Have you seen Indiana Jones
Does this effect the drainage of patio area ? Cheers
If your patio was built with a slight incline towards drainage then no. If you rely on the water draining through the gaps then yes
Thank you appreciated

its to strong mix John
I agree Mustafa
If there is a heavy down pour of rain you have to think where will it drain away.
When the slabs were laid, they should have a natural slope towards your drain to direct the water to the drainage source.
Use strong weed killer
Can I give jou my adres 😂
It's not that a big deal removing weeds. Just use weedkiller that gets to the roots in early spring and keep on top every month.
It don't work 😅
Which bit
