Concerning Guenon, I think one should always read his "The Crisis of the Modern World" along with his other work, because the rest of his work can be incredibly dense. This book actually makes all of his ideas easily applicable and relatable to the modern world (but even then some hard thinking is required because some things he discusses in there are no longer simply found in today's world).
Your list is 100% on point. The only thing I might suggest is, as far as Guénon, Man & His Becoming may be a bit overwhelming for an introduction to his work. Introduction to the Study of the Hindu Doctrines is a bit more accessible. The difference between Guénon and Schuon’s writing style is interesting: Guénon writes in a stark and direct style (even if he does love run on sentences and long paragraphs), whereas Schuon writes with the flourish of a poet. They are a perfect contrast to each other.
It is important to remember what Rene Guenon said in his book "L'homme et son devenir selon le Vedenta" that is is neither Religion no Philosophy nor a mix of both... It would be a great mistake to consider the doctrine of Vedanta as such... However, I agree with you Iman that this is an important book! "My aunt when she calls me and leaves a message always says "Over" at the end of it. I like how you finish your videos by saying "Done" So I would kindly add "Well" Done Iman! and Thank You.
Don’t stop posting videos sir, we need more quality content like this channel. Theoria Apophasis has some very good book recommendations, and he’s a great teacher on metaphysics etc.
Thank gou for posting this video. I will be reading these to assist with writing a thesis paper. However, it would have been very helpful if the titles, authors and editions were written in the description as well. I am visually impaired so it would have been much easier for me to know what exactly I'm looking for than relying on the book covers.
Have you read Philip Sherrard? He was a philosopher, translator, and lay-theologian of Eastern Orthodox Christianity, and his books are heavy on metaphysics like the authors and books you outlined in your video.
_The Experience of God_ by David Bentley Hart is also worth reading. I wrote my master's thesis on Schuon, and my doctoral thesis is going to include a paper on Guénon. Brilliant thinkers. There is not enough discussion about them in the anglophone UA-cam.
@@Christianity_and_Perennialism I have seen it, and I was. It sounds to me that his views are actually very perennialist in the proper sense of the word, but he rather calls his views 'syncretism'. It is odd.
The test of any teaching is the fruit it produces. If, for example, a metaphyisical teaching promises peace of mind, and by practicing the teaching you go on to experience peace of mind, then what was initially faith (hope despite doubts) will turn to certainty.
Metaphysics is a product of Revelation (Scriptures, in which the most direct expression are the Upanishads) and inner intellectual intuition. The mind is only a tool to make it articulate. Relationship between subject and object is at the heart of metaphysics, ie. consciousness and the objects witnessed. The only certainty that we will get from metaphysics is by direct experience of truth, by making necessary efforts to abide in the grace of God.
It’s strange to me here that there’s nothing by Kant, Spinoza, Hegel, Berkeley, Descartes, Marx, Sartre, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty or Deleuze here. If you want to do a survey a very narrow conception of metaphysics in the perennialist school that’s fine, but that’s a fraction of a fraction of what’s been done in metaphysics as a whole.
We used Metaphysic in its integral and Traditional aspect which differs radically from the metaphysics of a Kant or a Hegel. In fact, Traditional metaphysic repudiates the metaphysics of the thinkers you named altogether. It is not a matter of individual opinions, but an ever consistent set of principles of truth that underlie the great civilizations of the world.
Marx? Seriously? Recommending Marx on the subject of metaphysics has to be some kind of joke... Also, there's nothing "narrow " about the traditionalists' conception of metaphysics, its concerned with the Eternal.
@@imanmoeinianThis feels like an incredibly arrogant claim to make… and an unsubstantiated one, to just say everyone you don’t like deals with opinions while you deal with “truths”.
Please, keep making videos like this. There is indeed a gulf on UA-cam when it comes to the topic of the Perennialists and Traditional metaphysics.

You are right. "Crisis of the Modern World" is perhaps the best book to start with when it comes to Guenon.👌

Wonderful!! Please make a video on the books on western philosophy and why one should read them..

Very interested to explore Guenon

Whatever you do don’t look up the video of Hart talking about Guénon and Schuon. You’ll be disappointed.

Schopenhauer - The world as will and representation is worth picking up if you want to get to know an atheist stance on metaphysics.
Please recommend a book on metaphysics for beginners that's easy to understand.
Great video. Thank you.
Great video! 😁
Glad i found his channel :D
If metaphysics is entirely a product of our fallible human mind , can we assume any certainty on it ?
