I watched this on TV and it was amazing! Bart Arends is truly a master of these mashups and he does these every year. This event, which has become an unofficial tradition for us, takes place between Christmas and New Years Eve. Earlier in December, people can vote during a ''voting week'' for their favorite songs and the 2000 most voted songs get in. The reasons why people vote for certain songs can go from romantic to absolutely heartbreaking. Top 2000 is something I always look forward to, as most of the country come together and share memories, while listening to the music. Music is what matters at that point, no negative shit from the news.
I’m one of the musicians on that rooftop (the cellist with the beard). Had a lot of fun that day, but it was literally freezing. The people responsible for Davina Michelle’s ‘Power of Water’ video for ESF are based in the same business park.
i am an avid listener of the top 2000 since the start of it in 1999... the last week of the year the tv will not be turned on in my house, the radio is fixed on the NPO radio 2 top 2000 and every once in a while the volume goes up. every year i vote to get my favorites in the list. it has grown to a cult-like status with many listeners. when i have to go out of the house for shopping and such i make sure that my smartphone is charged to the hilt and i put the radio on on that device. in some stores and even in the busses of our public transport the top 2000 is often playing. it is absolutely fabulous....
Thats why i have a lot of watching to do in your Chanel, just listend en watched de top 2000 from christmas to 31 december. yearly tradition of the 2000 most beautiful songs chosen be the listeners.
You might have already heard this but; Every year since 1999/2000 this radio station has hosted the top 2000, the 2000 best songs ever made according to the audience. This is an non stop event lasting from Christmas to New Year’s Eve. A lot of people all over the country vote and listen to this as much as they can, and people from all over the world(most with Dutch heritage) tune in to it. The reigning champion of the number one spot is Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody, with only a hand full of years where it has not been number one(but number two). For myself, I have listened to it as long as I can remember, since the first year. The only tradition I have is to listen every moment I’m awake. The moment this opening started playing, and when I heard the theme song(overture by the who) I got goosebumps and I felt at home!
Unfortunately almost the whole list is chosen by the old people in the country, so there are a lot of songs in that no younger person knows, which makes it for me kinda boring. It was cool to see that the generation of teenagers is getting in to it now. They voted a lot for a song that was made as a joke by a group of youtubers called the Bankzitters. The song ended up on the spot #611 which shows that a new generation is coming, and that everything is possible.
@@jochemoltvoort1382 Your reaction only proves that the younger generation has to vote too!! I'm over 60, yes older generaton, but compare today's music against the music of the 60's to the 90's: there are no Beatles, Stones or Abba today! Not even one to compare with Madonna! (no, not Britney ... who?) Today's music is often a 'reprise' from the older (50's to 90's) music and than called 'new'. O, and I skipped house music (was that music at all?)
@@jochemoltvoort1382 Yeah, I used to agree with you...but once I got older I realised only a few songs from my childhood are still worth listening to...and they are in in there. With an average life expectancy of about eighty it is only fair that the generation 15 to 25 gets about 14% of the votes, right? And those vote get diluted over lots of bands, where the old songs, well everybody knows which ones to pick. And trust me. in 10 years K-pop will be a thing of the past...It will not make it's way to this list.
168 hours of Top 2000 started at Christmas, and ended with New Year. I have had it on for all 168 hours, so haven't seen any UA-cam in the time between, and now I'm back watching UA-cam and already there's the Top2000 again
