@@GibramRivera-sy2nr Well, accessibility is a big factor itself, and RE0 and RE1 Remake are the only classic style RE games given updated remasters (for PC especially), while Code Veronica and original trilogy are practically abandonware save for the very dedicated who can mod and emulate them. Until they get remakes, RE0 and RE1 Remake are basically part of the new canon being established by the recent remakes (2, 3, 4) plus RE7 & RE8.
I'd say as a follow up to the video, your points were solid as always. I feel like Re2Make has already repositioned what survival horror is supposed to be by going back to the roots. It was such a hit that I think people will commit to it in the future. That fad of streamer culture you mentioned, definitely on the way out. If this came out in 2018 you'd have been a prophet and the points outlined would be even more relevant. Hoping things return to form.

Anyway while I agree slender man wasn't that scary, I do remember sitting down to try it after a friend jump out there seat screeming at it just to find the mouse and keyboard drenched is sweat... That was a bit unnerving
They're not 'survival horror', those games you mentioned are 'action horror' due to the difference in gameplay style to the original Resident Evil and Silent Hill games (and similar)
*If Amogus somehow manage to be considered a modern horror game, I'll drop the nuke, same goes for FNAF, the concept is good but the execution is poor*
Hum... The Evil Within games ? Anyone ? I mean don't get me wrong, the first one was more action oriented than most people want to admit it but the sequel clearly puts forward the survival aspect a lot more while managing to strike a balance with the conventional tropes of nowadays standards. Kinda sad it's not being mentionned.

Personally despite what I said I can enjoy both for what they are, though to be honest the first has a tad too much resi 4 vibe with the set pieces of it's levels and uh.... ruvik kinda becomes a chore on repeated playthroughs, but the team learned a lot through that and the 2nd game has clearly a lot more going on for it and just has all around a better design for balancing out it's gameplay's pacing. I take the stealth sections in it anytime compared to the chase sequences from the first despite how broken it can get ^~^'
i would love to have survival horror games to feel the dread and i would love to play alot of survival horror games the games we have today is a little bland like go here and shoot or go beat this guy down with a few cool moves
The RE remakes and newer RE titles are great other than that there are smaller studios and indie games that fit the nieche. I've been obsessed with Signalis ever since it came out last year.
Have you tried Tormented Souls? It's a great called back to classic RE games. It's also getting a sequel. Another classic RE style game Echoes of the Living is about to come out this year. Alan Wake 2 looks very promising also.
Boy, do I disagree a lot with your video, I don't know where to start. First of all, being on your "last bullet" isn't even scary, it's tension inducing due to frustration because you are stuck in an awkward possibly unwinnable sitaution of where it can screw over first time players because they didn't look up a walkthrough beforehand. Not only that but you save bullets and unload all of them on the final boss, and the final boss is the biggest "big bad" and yet you are unloading all your saved up ammo like an action movie. So "scary". The horror movies thing is basically you thinking they are basically just slasher films, there are stuff like Jaccob's Ladder, The Thing, and the Fly where the characters are likable and the movies can be tension inducing. I argue more so than a game because a movie is you being a passive observer where the characters are vunerable, not you trying to win. "RE5 and 6 throwing away the horror". Uh, Code Veronica exists a game where it literally has equilvant of Superman asking Batman to take on Doomsday with the Alexia vs. Wesker fight. And RE was always dumb and RE4 is super dumb. Salazar statue, knife fight, guy who has a cult but also a private army. Stealth and horror would be better than a horror game being a wannabe shooter where you have an awkward blend of shooting and running away. At least stealth makes it easier to get immersed in the FEAR, Siren had the right idea but made multiple missteps and I think Amensia is scarier than any RE. Also, the RE2 Remake ruined the gunplay and made guns terrible to use to the point where the game was a chore to play. Have a zombie tank 4 shotgun blasts is unforgivable in an RE game and a game in general.
RE3 2O2O turned out to be a massive letdown, thou; & it really wasn't even worth its price on release!

That 2nd game is so fucking good. I wasn’t a big fan of the direction of the first. Kinda get like a bait and switch after the initial couple areas.
