It’s a preference. People have 10’ up to 13’ rods at the canal. You’ll be surprise of how wide the canal is and sometimes a shorter rod won’t get you the distance you need to reach them when they are only in the middle.

Look at this canal legend! Took until July for him to catch a fish in a blitz and he couldn’t wait to post a video! We are so lucky to have witnessed this great footage along with the 400 other videos just like it on UA-cam. Congrats man!

May look like guppy’s but isn’t. You can do a comparison if you’re so concern... Majority of pencil poppers have the same general shape but if you want to get sensitive over that fact too then you can.
