Mr Brand was one of my heroes as I was growing up. The older I get, the more respect I have for men like him, Mr. Bronson, and Mr. Garner. There are more. Just keep reading and watching stories like this one. Mr. Stewart is another great one too.
So many actors we grew up watching served in the military. WWII, Korea, Vietnam. That episode was really powerful, but so many Twilight Zone episodes were impactful. RIP Neville Brand!
Thank you Neville Brand , Rod Serling and Charles Bronson for serving our country 🇺🇲 and taking the time to pay your respect to your courageous friend . May you all RIP 💐🌸🪷🌹🌺🌻🌼🌷🪻⚘️.
Beautiful story. Veterans helping veterans. Thanks as always, Nick. "A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24)
It's amazing to me the caliber of human beings so many of yesterdays actors were. I grew up watching these people never knowing how many were veterans, with amazing stories.
No matter what you might think, everyone has his own stories, his own problems. Kindness and appreciation goes a long way, and is always worthwhile! RIP Rod, RIP Neville 👏🇺🇸
These men shaped a generation, not only with their acting, but with their strength of character and courage. We need men like them once again, men willing to stand up for what's right.
Because many men lead lives of quiet desperation. PTSD wasn't understood then, I'm sure my father had it, but you were just expected to get on with your life.
I got goose pumps hearing this amazing story. Neville Brand was one of my favorite actors growing up in the 60tys. I liked his rough look n that great voice. I’m happy to say, thank you Rod Sterling for whatever your words were spoken it made Newell a great actor. ♥️😊👍
Many of us enjoyed the roles Mr. Brand and other actors of his generation performed. It is alarming how so many people of our country have forgotten the importance of how these men fought for their freedom. They were not fools or suckers who gave of themselves to protect America and the world. We have enjoyed the greatest degree of freedom since the time of the Romans. In less than a month, we will be asked to do our part to sustain the liberties of our country. Look upon the actions of these brave and humble men and ignore the divisiveness and self-serving rationale of those who only care about their donors.
People who have never been in a military and suffering battles of the scars from the traumatic experience live forever in their mind and their body and overwhelms you to a point that it's so hard to live now they call it PTSD I give my hat off to this man he was a great actor and a warrior and a person who survived world war II with 80 million people died I mean that's a lot of people my God 80 million people and he survived I think you deserved a lot more than just a purple heart

They were completely different people. I had an incident in the Army that resulted in the death of 4 of my friends because they were in the location I was supposed to be. I kept it to myself for 37 years. It ate me alive and affected every aspect of my life. I finally had a meltdown right in front of a VA psychologist. She probably saved my life.
Rod Sterling was a paratrooper and years later he made a publicity jump with active duty troops. He said he felt a little guilty that he got all the attention and he wrote a TV story about an actor that does the same thing and fails to come through. It is a story well worth watching if it can be found.

D.O.A, 1948 movie starring Edmond O'Brien. Brand plays Chester, a bad guy bullying O'Brien. "Chester's gonna give it to him, right in the belly!" Then he socks him in gut with his gat. Good movie, great characters.
I was recalled for Op Desert Shield/Storm. I saw firsthand the effects of chemical warfare, among other things, to which no human should be subjected. Every now and then something transports me back to that nightmarish ordeal. War’s an ugly, but necessary business, and this is why I always say, “I hope this generation of kids will be willing to answer the call and defend our Republic, if ever put in that position.” I’m now 2.5 yrs free of prescribed opiates and other narcotics that were used to help manage a complex pain envelope, and these stories help me more than you’ll ever know. Thank you 🙏🏻
The episode was only telecast once and then withheld for decades before they played it again because of the intensely sensitive content and shocking ending. Rod Serling was a brilliant visionary, and I cannot imagine how much better the twilight zone could have been if advertisers had not interfered with his Creative efforts. The series is amazing so just imagine…
Another very good actor, and his character in stall 17. Which is one of my favorite wartime movies I was nicknamed after the mouse ‘Shnickel Fritz’. And I shortened it to Fritz. My stepmother used to call me Fritz all the time.
This was a great episode co-starring George Takei. Takei, as a child, was intermediate at a camp for Japanese Americans in the USA. Powerful episode that only aired nationally decades after it was filmed.
Bronson served on a B29 over the Pacific. He was a gunner received the PH for action, shrapnel from attacking zeros. Credited with shooting down a zero.
Most of the actors of his generation were veterans. We owe a lot more to them than just appreciation for what they did on screen. Their true service to society wasn't their acting, but how they served their country when they were young men in the military.
There is an unbreakable bond among combat veterans. It's a bond stronger than blood. Unless you've experienced it, you can't easily explain it to most people. Unfortunately not all vets can find a healthy outlet for their experiences and succumb to bad things. Wishing all my brothers in arms a healthy, happy and loving Thanksgiving. And to those who are suffering remember this, you are not alone. There is help available so you can overcome and live your life in peace. Bless all our past, present and future veterans.💖🇺🇸
