    The Idejo chiefs, the original landowners of the islands of Lagos, are descendants of Olofin. Some members of the Idejo aristocracy, the Elegushi for example, have had their status elevated to that of an Oba. The thirty-two children of Olofin (some of who were non-biological) included Olumegbon, Aromire, Oloto, Oluwa, Oniru, Onisowo, Onitolo, Elegushi, Ojora, and Onikoyi. Idejo chiefs are distinguished with the inclusion of white cap and fan in their stately dressing.

      @Adeoye Adelaja Olofin had two wives named Akesan and Ajaiye. Akesan had two sons (Ogunneru and Ogunbiyi), while Ajaiye was barren. After they settled in Isheri, Olofin consulted the Ifa oracle, where they were told to proceed to a place where there was salt water. They left Isheri and ended up at Iddo, where they stayed. Ajaiye eventually gave birth to 8 children, who would eventually grow up to be the present-day Idejos. He gave them lands to farm. The Idejos include Aromire, Ojora, Onikoyi, Oniru, Oluwa, Oloto, Olumegbon, and Elegushi. Olofin would eventually go back to Isheri to live out the rest of his life after cutting off Ajaiye's head for betraying him to the Benin people.
      Ogunneru eventually succeeded Olofin Ogunfunminire as the next Olofin of Isheri, while Ogunbiyi will go on to birth new Awori towns. His son was the first King of Ota.

    The original settlers of Lagos were descendants of Ogunfunmimire, a prince from Oodua dynasty. These descendants were called omo olefin. The left ile-Ife with a bowl (awo) with an instruction that wherever the bowl sinks is where they should settle, hence the name awori. This was where the descendants of Ogunfunminire got their yoruba sub ethnic group name from; Awori. They passed through several towns in yorubaland that were yet to be settled in the 1500s. They had several stops along the way, towns like present-day Ota, Isheri, Ado-Odo, but eventually settled in present-day Lagos Island at Idumota and Iddo. Among the descendants of olofin ogunfunminire were Oloto, Olumegbon, Onitoolo, Aromire, Elegushi, Oniru, Ojora, Oluwa, and Onikoyi. The binis came much later as a domineering kingdom on the coast.

      Then how come oba Akiolu was saying another story and what was uku okpolopolo driving at?. Was his royal majesty bored in his palace that made him to come to gov sanwo-olu to stir the dust?. Later his royal majesty will say that Ibira land, ifon, okeluse Akure belongs to Benin.

    • @williampowers2109
      @williampowers2109 Рік тому

      @ditty6828 Oba Akiolu has no historical reference for his wild and unsubstantiated assertions. He's a descendant of the Benin settlers who met Olofin ogunfunminire and his descendants at Iddo, who later gave Benis a piece of land at iga idungaran, present day isale eko to build their palace as the omo Olofin didn't have a king.
