Complete Nintendo 64 RPG List

- I've been looking around for some RPG lists on the N64. Surprisingly, all of them have either been incomplete, or have added titles that are not actually within the genre itself. So, I did some research and I came up with a definitive list for the console myself!
The music is public domain and a remix uploaded by an anonymous individual to a site where they remix scores from various video games. The song is called, "Few Paths Forbidden," and it comes from the game, "Seiken Densetsu 3."
The list isn't very large and the N64 was by no means a memorable console for its RPGs. The fact that the N64 was still using cartridges that had a 32 MB capacity as opposed to rivals who had moved onto the 700 MB compact discs, didn't allow it to garner enough support and have a lasting impression on the genre. This, coupled with the massive expense it had for developers, turned them to other channels. It does, however, play host to some of the best games ever made within the genre.
Without a doubt, some of these will forever hold a special place in many gamer's hearts. The list is as follows in alphabetical order:
A special thanks to the following contibuters:
N64
Kragdude (Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2) -- REMOVED
1. Aidyn Chronicles: First Mage
2. Hybrid Heaven
3. Ogre Battle 64
4. Paper Mario
5. Quest 64
Heavily Debated/Hybrid
6. Harvest Moon 64
7. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
8. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
That's the list! I hope you've enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! - Ігри
And it's a 38 second video. Brilliant.
The N64 had in Japan 4 more RPG games. If you combine the libraries the N64 has about 12 RPG games which is decent by any standard. May i remind you the N64 only had 16 FPSs and it was a hugely popular genre on the console.
Your lists are great. Thank you :)
Mega Man 64 should also have been on the list
Legend of zelda is an action adventure.
Great Video.
In my opinion, you should add "Mega Man 64" to the list.
[]s
The legend of zelda saga is action aventure game
damn straight to the point
Is Harvest Moon a RPG? It's a simulation to most. Dating sim, farming sim...
You have Forget Gaunlet Legends
While this is a pretty decent video for those looking for a list of RPG's on the N64, it's very inaccurate. For example, half of what you have listed here are not actually RPG's. Rather, they are action/adventure games. Since there are so very, very few true RPG's on the system, and since they are very close to qualifying as RPG's, I actually have no problem with people including these action/adventure games, but they should be separated from the real ones. You also missed some of these action/adventure games on the system.
Below I will give a more detailed list of all of the true RPG's and action/adventue games on the system, but first I'll explain what I and the vast majority of other RPG fans consider an RPG to be. It's actually quite simple. If a game has your character gaining levels, and/or if your character has stats(such as hit points, magic points, attack, defense, agility, intelligence, luck etc.), then it's an RPG. Some games may feature weapons and/or armor gaining levels and having stats instead of the character themselves, and these also qualify as RPG's. Zelda games, while featuring a few elements found in RPG's(towns with people you can talk to, inventories, equipment, money, shops), are *not* RPG's. The only exception is Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, a game that would qualify(just barely) as an action RPG.
Okay, so here is the list:
*RPG's*: Paper Mario(turn-based), Quest 64(turn-based), Aidyn Chronicles(turn-based), Ogre Battle(strategy), Gauntlet Legends(action), Hybrid Heaven(never played it, but looks to be a really cool sort of fighting/turn based RPG), Pokemon Stadium 1&2(I'm assuming turn-based, but I'm unsure because I never played them.)
*Action/Adventure, plus other games that feature RPG elements*: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Harvest Moon 64(farming sim, but with many RPG elements like Zelda), Mega Man 64(like Zelda, it's extremely close to being an RPG), Mystical Ninja starring Goemon(very close to RPG), Goemon's Great Adventure(sequel to previous game), Hercules: The Legendary Journeys(Zelda like title), Worms: Armageddon(a turn-based/strategy/artillery game. It's perhaps the farthest thing from an RPG on the list, but it is turn-based, your worms have hit points, and it's a helluva lot of fun!)
If you include Japanese exclusives there are a few more choices, but I will not be listing them(unless someone really wants me to) as I know next to nothing about any of them.
Well thanks, i think i will play Paper Mario(When i finish Super Mario RPG) and Ogre Battle 64, not there many options to choose, thought.
***** Why are you awnser to me? and if it was whith me, sorry i don't read all the text, I'm just looking RPG turn by turn. such as those i mentioned.
Shadowgate 64 was an adventure game my bad
It's shameful there were no Final Fantasy games on the N64. Seriously wtf Nintendo and Square?
I so wish 7 would have been. It could have saved the 64's disk drive and brought it over to NA.
It's so little :O
it's wtf nintendo for sticking with cartridge.
