I miss Gary’s website when it was more interactive with him. He had a love for dogs and a section on there just for it. I sent him a picture and a story of my father’s dog Chance and he asked me if he could post it on there. Of course I agreed. The first and only time I got to see him play was in 1998 in Cleveland at Diamondback brewing company with Tribal Tech. During their break, they played pool with us. Just a great group of guys who knew how to play and loved doing it. It was a dream for me, and one of my best memories of some of my musical heroes.
I cannot find a Roland VB-99 anywhere! I wish I could own one...I am shocked there is not a VB-99 for sale ANYWHERE! If anybody out there knows where I can find one, please let me know. Great interview with Gary!
I got one used for around 900 bucks with a stand, a bag and a pickup. They pop up on reverb from time to time. People generally don't know how to handle these beasts (vb, gr55 and such), so they're often sold in near new condition.
Hello, how is Gary Willis' bass connected to the VB-99? Does the bass have an integrated midi module or does the VB-99 transform the audio signal from TRS cable into midi?
Hello, a proprietary Roland GK cable is used. Normally one is supplied with a new VB-99 or GR-55 unit; I got one with my Yamaha G50 unit. They are also sold separately on eBay or Reverb.
Well... depends upon who you buy it from... Guitar Center? No office plant. Aunt Mary's Guitars, Hair Salon and Home Center... free fake schefflera with any purchase over $100.
