I’ve been paddling Alpacka packrafts ever since they came out with the original Classic years ago. They kept improving boat design and making more whitewater specific boats. I paddled the Refuge for awhile, then they came out with the Valkyrie. Hands down the best design yet. They’re still tweaking and improving every year.
Thanks! I have a 194 and 197 Werner 4 piece breakdowns, I prefer the 194. I’m 5’4”, so most will definitely want longer. The Valkyrie is much narrower than the other Alpacka packrafts I have like the Refuge so I don’t need as much length. I actually use my old 191 bent shaft AT I’ve used for years kayaking if I’m not on a hiking trip and don’t need a breakdown. I feel more in control and brace better with the shortys.
@@desertratky75 - awesome thanks! I have a breakdown 4 piece Werner Sherpa 197. You have me seriously considering a Valkyrie! One would open up some unique options to hike/paddle/camp for me!
Alpacka just came out with the V3. Looks creekier and easier to roll, solid updates from the V2. Good video on their website. Either way the Valkyrie is a game changer!
Cool video with the multiple angles. I didnt realize you could ferry and catch eddys so well in a packraft (if you have the skills).
Thanks! The latest whitewater Alpacka boat, the Valkyrie, is amazing. Handles whitewater as well as my hardshell river runner.
Wow, that is awesome. How did you pick the Valkyrie over other packrafts/Star Viper, etc.? @@desertratky75

Awesome edit!
What length of paddle do you prefer for the Valkyrie?
