    Wow - this is the product that just keeps on giving! Having a wireless monitor will be brilliant for what we do with our sports broadcasts. At the moment our camera operator sometimes isn't close enough to the commentators to hear what they are saying and therefore react to what they are saying with the camera (for instance film a player specifically that they are talking about) but with this function they can wear bluetooth headphones and monitor them all the time. Big question is do you know what radius it has? If it's around 10 metres that would be brilliant, 20m would be unbelievable and anything more than that would be out of this world. Have you tested the distance yet? Thanks as always.

    • @mp999
      @mp999 2 роки тому +1

      Just to add that we use long cables to monitor at some stadia but often because of crowds cables cannot be run safely, hence the wireless option would be brilliant.

    recently bought a RCP2 and had a GoXLR. great device so far. I have been missing some small features from the GoXLR though like the multiple virtual channels to split up audio for live stream instead of using 2 USB ports on a PC. Also the ease of use of the sample buttons with the record, playback and crop functionality was great on the GoXLR, I'm surprised Rode didn't do something similar.

    First tests of the RodeCaster Pro 2... I'm a radio DJ working in voice track for radio stations 50% of time with RCS Zetta 2 GO...
    I'm not sure I'm going to make it a working tool.
    First things: the French translation is worthy of a Wish product... But let's move on to translation.
    I tested the micro process part impossible to obtain a dense radio sound as can be obtained with a Symetrix 528e, an M1 or a dbx286 ...
    More embarrassing or more serious...
    To work in radio production (voice track for my case and under WIndows, my Macintoshians may have qq something more satisfying).
    If we use the ASIO drivers, we have 0 gain control between the console output and the interface, normal everything is integrated... yes except that peaks at -12dB may be the norm in the recording studio, in Broadcast where we have more levels with peaks close to 0 dBFS (to stick to the music production that is in these standards)... In Sound Forge too weak to be delivered without post prod, in Reaper (a multitrack) the correction of gain after recording gave me systematically saturation, and that I could not understand why ... Related to how the integrated interface handles levels?
    One more thing in ASIO the only sampling frequency is the 48kHz, the 44.1 which remains a standard, we forget, the 96kHz which is the new PRO standard we forget also...
    Finally the ASIO driver seemed to me hyper unstable ceasing to accept to record without reason at times ...
    I have been working for years in ASIO with Focusrite which is renowned for its drivers not always well cared for and I do not know this instability.
    This closes the trial for local registration... let's switch to Zetta to do remote voice...
    To interface with Zetta it is necessary on the other hand to stick with the Windows standard (Zetta uses the default registration interface of the PC) and manage with the "recording level" in the control panel, again up to -12dBFS it works between -12 and 0 it saturates very quickly. The micro stage having just a compressor and not limit to put in the stride, it is either too weak or saturated in my tests. I was planning to use the "chat" output but it is in a quality type phone (restricted bandwidth) not bad for phone on Skype (and again) but not exploitable in Broadcast (I planned to use it as an N-1 for Zetta)... So remains the Secondary output (2nd USB interface to put in N-1) but again impossible to manage the level satisfactorily.
    I also transferred the beds of a radio to one of the customizable pads. These beds were very qualitative MP3s, it works but... It looks like it starts playing by emptying a remnant of buffer, so systematically reading a remnant of sound before playing the new jingle, and the jingle at the top left can not be reread after reading regardless of the config, and it is well in replay like the others...
    I finish writing this post, I will go and store it in its box, before making further tests or repacking it for return. My first impression is not excellent...
    I am used to working with a focusrite interface and a digital process from Symetrix. I notice that the input of the Focusrite has a super tolerance to saturation, I work permanently at the limit of 0dBFS without saturating.

    • @otm777
      @otm777 2 роки тому +1

      It should work both ways otherwise it wouldn't be very beneficial. If you take a look @7:47 you can see his phone is already paired to the RCP prior to connecting the speaker. Paired input devices would be assigned to a channel for volume control via a fader (physical or virtual). Output volume for a BT speaker appears to be controlled by the master knob.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  2 роки тому +2

So if you use the effects for voices, you only can hear them on the final stereo file mix, you will not hear them at all on the individual tracks. I read somewhere that they are going to try to get it to work on multitrack exports as well in a future update.

On my broadcast machine, I am finding that only the USB 1 chat virtual audio source is giving me a full output mix. When I try to choose USB 1 Main for the broadcast output I get nothing. My original plan was to has the USB 1 chat linked into my Discord or other com application and then have the USB1 Main be the multi mix out to the stream. DO you know if there is any way to switch the multi mix audio output or this normal? I know you have been bombarded with routing questions, thanks for any help in advance.

      You've hit one one of my biggest pain points with the RCP2: they really haven't done anything to update the music-related functionality. It's pretty much just a basic clean signal and that's about it.
      Boss recently released a similar product called the "Gigcaster" and while I'm not totally crazy about it, the virtual amp modeling is RIDICULOUS. It sounds incredible, you can tweak things however you'd like, and there's absolutely no latency or delay of any kind.
      I've been waiting for Rode to announce some kind of update with those features, but so far there's nothing. My personal theory is that building in that kind of sound modeling is tricky, and the other option is to license sounds from other companies, but that's probably incredibly complicated too.
      I'm glad the videos have been helpful!

    The puns are so bad, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Very informative, and answered a question that I had involving plugging both USBs into the same device. With all the videos you've done on this device, I finally bit the bullet and decided to pick this up to replace my GoXLR that's started to have the mic amp have its noise floor increase over time. One question I have, is are you able to layer multiple effects? One thing I like to do with my current setup is to do both pitch down and robot effects for a character I do, so I was wondering it that is still something I could do here or if effects can only do just one at a time

    Being able to use both USB's on the same computer is something I theoretically thought could work - thank you for confirming. That's getting it ever closer to the functionality of the GoXLR with Windows machines. This would be a no brainer for me if you could do separate submixes for the different headphone outputs. My current interface has 4 separate headphone mixes (Antelope Discrete 4 SC) which I use to route audio to different places like a camera, an ATEM mini and two sets of headphones. Being able to discretely choose what audio goes where is pretty necessary for my workflow. So close, Rode!

      Certainly very interesting. I am drewling here on these video's. Want to replace my analog mixer with this RØDEcaster Pro II, also saves some space on my desk. Anyways, i am using BreakawayOne (Live) for the soundprocessing of live shows (haven't done it for a while but still), and that complicates things as i want to monitor the output (after processing) on my headphone. Till now i used a second soundcard in my PC for this purpose, and ASIO for the low latency (does the RØDEcaster Pro II even support ASIO?). Still have my Focusrite here also (which supports ASIO). But i think i can even manage to do this all with only the RØDEcaster without needing the Focusrite. Also i have a Lexicon MX300 multi-effect processor which i was using for a light reverb on the microphone, but i also don't need that anymore i guess. I am rambling a bit, but the main thing i wanted to say is that the use of multiple pathways is ideal and necessary for these kind of constructions if you want to use processing or an additional effect processor and with 2 USB's (soundcards) even on the same PC would be damn nice.

I can have my vo mic on one fader, DAW audio on another fader, zoom on its own fader and music from Spotify on its own fader so its like having 3 audio interfaces in one package although it’s software based. I use the Samson G-Track Pro USB mic and it has been pretty good (anything is better than the built-in mic of my iMac 2017!). Should I still consider a RODECaster Pro II? If it's leaving something to be desired, then maybe there's another USB mic that would help? (I've really been liking the Rode NT-USB+ and the Sennheiser Profile.)
