Duran are still and always were bang on trend The mixes to this track are on the new dance music scene that started which was House To my mind, whatever genre you want Duran have it, the best band in the world and we as Duranies are the best fans in the world
This song is about some legal battles they had with their previous record label that basically ripped them of ownership of their own songs. Seedy label that eventually went bankrupt and was taken over by another label, years later.
Any legal battles DD had at the time had to with Andy Taylor when he left the band along with managers, publishers, lawyers and accountants and not with their record company. Duran Duran signed with Capitol Records (a subsidiary of EMI Records) in 1980 and they were still with Capitol Records when this album was made in 1988. Duran Duran ended their relationship with Capitol and EMI after their Medazzaland album was released in 1997. They were with them from 1980 -1997. Capitol/EMI was not "seedy" nor did they go bankrupt. Capitol Records still exists and its headquarters is still based in Los Angeles. In fact, Duran Duran did a roof-top concert at the Aster Hotel last year with Capital Records in the backdrop lit up with the colors of the Ukrainian flag- in which Capital Records agreed to. In regards to EMI, "On 12 November 2011, it was announced that EMI would sell its recorded music operations to Universal Music Group (UMG) for £1.2 billion ($1.9 billion) and its music publishing operations to Sony/ATV Music Publishing-for $2.2 billion." There was no bankruptcy. The last 40 years have been about corporations buying up other corporations and business by expanding their portfolio. Your post is creative but not based on facts.
From their great Big Thing album, one of my favorite DD albums. And yes, they are very versatile and experiment a lot with their music but somehow always sounding like DD.
Just wanted to say thanks for going on this journey. I was a huge 80 90s MTV era fan of Duran Duran but missed out on a lot of their later music and your vids made me go and listen to some of these tracks. How amazing! Particularly loved "Invisible", "Too Much Information" and especially "The Man Who Stole a Leopard" (Featuring Kelis!?!), none of which I had ever heard before today 8).
React to the most woman empowering song of the 1980s called Strut by Sheena Easton. So you can see an Irish girl kicking ass and even Madonna loves this song. Yup. It's that good.
Which one? They have several? The two that come to mind: from the Big Thing Live Tour (1988-89) & The Astronaut Tour (2005). These versions are drastically different from each other.
Been a Duran Duran fan since I was a teen in the 80's. 35 years and this song still bangs.

I love DD since Junior high school
He did not give her a chance to give her opinion of the song. He should have asked her what did you think of the song. Wow. That was weird.
The live version is better!
