The thing I love about Duran Duran is that Simon's lyrics can be so obscurely poetic that you need to watch the vids to gain some kind of insight into what they're about. Love, Love, LOVE Duran Duran
Oh I danced to this one a few times at a school discos. I loved the boys back then. They always had shooting issues because John and Simon were super tall and the rest were quite short. So when there all together some are sitting or John and Simon are leaning forward. Lol. It's so obvious once you see it, but I genuinely never picked it up until recently. I loooove this song. One of their best. Simon's vocals are very cool in this, but the real delight (and what contributes to their sound) is John's bass. Also something I never picked up as a kidlet.
Such a great song. I love that you keep revisiting them. For some more banging bass check out Late Bar from the Songbook sessions or Is there anyone out there?
I remember this came out when I was a kid- I have no Idea what the song is about, but in my Jewish mind it was always a Rosh Chodesh celebration song lol.
I would suggested Duran Duran songs such as Come Up and Make Me Smile and Secret Oktober. These songs were found on the B side of singles. Also, highly recommend from the Notorious album: Skin Trade, Vertigo, & Winter Marches On. Big Thing album: I Don't Want Your Love, Do You Believe in Shame and All She Wants Is. Violence of Summer from the Liberty album is fun too.
If I remember well this video was filmed in France but the DD guys hate it, especially the end where they made them "dance" together. 😅 This music video is like a little movie and I love it. There is also a longer version of the video with a little more of Simon's acting.
Actually from what I remember it was the reflex that was heavy rotation and maybe this one until wild boys came out personally I prefer this over the reflex because it's more of the mind than the reflex was and like the song night boat is now here is a thing that most people don't know about do you believe in shame, ordinary world, and the song from the movie Saint aka out of my mind is about Simon's friend who died while he was on tour with the band
P. S. We had sparklers like that as a kid in Idaho. Probably early 80s? I don’t think they were legal here. Wyoming had all the good stuff and people would bring it back here! 😂
My teenage years were overflowing with these guys. So much fun! ❤
Duran was my first concert in ‘85. I still have a crush on John after all these years!! ❤
Poor Simon and his near death experiences. Did you see the horse try to take him out? 😂 It's always something with that dude!
Love this song.
Never gets played enough! My wife’s name means New Moon and she was born on a Monday, so it’s her theme tune!
Seven & the Ragged Tiger is a fantastic album

This song & ‘Save a Prayer’ are their best songs….:)
The wardrobes in this video was killer!! Duran Duran always dressed apart!
You should really watch the "movie" version of this video - it helps fill in the storyline of this video....
This chorus, to me, is so hauntingly beautiful! Just like butter!!

The first seven inch vinyl I bought. Love this song.
This and Union of the Snake were always my favs!
This is a song from 1984. Their songs had crazy lyrics back then. Nowadays, their songs are more understandable.

Fun fact they were on Christmas holiday and their manager told them they had to do the video. So they got drunk for alot of the video .
Night boat the video not live
Not their best song, but the chorus is fantastic
