I have a question...I have a 1943 steel penny, but I was told it was worthless, I'm not understanding why?
They're fairly common amongst the coin collecting community. They were made from steel that year to conserve copper for the war. A select few copper varieties were accidentally made in 1943 so look out for those, or a steel penny from 1944. If you happen to find either one, know that fakes have been made and get it authenticated by a professional.
As for steel cents in 1943, ones in mint state condition do go for more money

I have a steel 1943 also, the copper ones are worth more but its still a great collectable.

I have a thomas Jefferson that's almost touching the arm and james Madison , 3rd ray, both 2007, i have 8 more presidents where its the normal length away, 10 presidents in total, i started coin collecring when i wanted all 50 states which turned into copper ,silver, error hunting, which might turn into all 46 president hunting next lol,
Just noticed 2 are james Madison, both 2007 1 P 1 D mint mark , the P mint one is the one thats almost poking his arm. The 1 with the closer ray his hand is also alil higher than the D mint mark one.
