Wow!! What a fantastic video, thanks for posting. We’re booked on Arvia for Jan 2023, she this video makes us very excited :)
Wow, we're very jealous of your cruise on Arvia next year. She looks even better than Iona - hope you have an amazing time!
I've probably watched about 100 videos on the Iona now before our cruise and this is by far the best! Absolutely great review, pace, you showed things we've had questions about and loved what you said at the end! Thanks so much!
Hello! Thanks for your lovely comment! Iona is a smashing ship - we’ve been on 10 other cruise ships since this video, and it’s still the best from the lot! Hope you have a great time :)
We were on her at the end of November 2021, and I have to agree - she is a special ship. Spacious, modern and with plenty to do, she certainly kept us busy for 14 nights. Balcony room was great and spacious, the food was amazing and, of course, the staff were just incredible. Booked to go on her Feb 2023. My favourite ship of P&Os.
She is a really great ship! So excited for Arvia :)
Thank you, what a great tour. Looking forward to getting on her next year.
Thanks, Amanda! Pretty sure you’re going to love her! :)
Great video, very informative, we cant wait to cruise on Iona in 2024
Thank you Jamie! We hope you have an amazing time in 2024! 😄
I love your work! Your reviews and tours are interesting and helpful. You have a keen eye for detail for the things that make a good cruise. Well done!
Thank you :) glad you enjoy them
Thank you , looking forward to sailing on her on 19th March .
You lucky lady. I’m looking at doing her again this year, just trying to find the right cruise! Hope you have a smashing time!
16 weeks and counting and we will be sailing, thanks for the video.
Booked today! Some crazy prices for next February. Arvia next May also will be good to compare!
Great tour Jay
She’s one of our faves! Fantastic ship, so excited for Arvia too; hoping to do the Caribbean on her next year. And thanks, as always :)
We loved the Iona, looking forward to now going on her sister Ship Arvia very soon .
Thanks for watching! Have you got any cruises planned soon for Arvia?! ☺️
@@sailawaymag Hi Dan and Jay , yes we are lucky enough to be able to Cruise on the Arvia , last year we were on the Iona , loved it , seeing Arvia Gold atrium 👍👍👍👍❤️. XxxxxX love your blogs
Aw thanks Jennifer, we really appreciate all the love and support! Hopefully one day we can bump into each other on a cruise! 😁
Subarb review. Thank you for doing this! Much appreciated. Warm regards.
Thank you so much for watching!! ☺️
Well done Jay fab tour
Thanks Gail :)
Just came home from our Norway cruise on the Iona very big to what we are used to but had a fab time already booked again for October great video very informative for new cruisers to Iona
Thank you so much Michele! Glad you had an amazing time onboard! ☺️
Very informative video and one very useful thing to see for the Beachcombers Pool is the pool hoist for disabled people. This isn't mentioned at all on the P&O website and is conspicuous by its absence from the list of ships with pool hoists (also from P&O). Well done guys! We're looking forward to our trip on board Iona (hopefully do our own video too)
A really comprehensive review. Many thanks Jay 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Thank you for this. We are on here in 8 days - even more excited now!
We're so jealous! Iona is one of the best ship's we've been on! Hope you have an amazing time, Linda!!
were planing to go on Iona for a cruise next year and from this review she looks like a really nice ship. and with being diffrent I see it as p&o trying to be more modern and try to bring in a younger crowed yes its gonna upset the regular crowed but that is progress you cant keep everyone happy if p&o want to get there mojo back then they need to get with the times and Iona is a prime example of that
Loved this video - can’t believe we haven’t seen it before. We are going on Iona for the second time this weekend 😊
Thanks Guys :) you’re so lucky! I loved it, just looking for the right cruise on her so I can go again. So excited for Arvia :)
Superb tour of the ship Sir; looking forward even more to our trip in June 2022
Thanks Rod! You’re gonna love her, she’s great!
Really enjoyed this video, am considering booking a cruise with friends, and Iona looks lovely! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks Sara! Glad you enjoyed it :) you’ll have a smashing time on Iona!
Looking forward to my cruise on this ship
Looking forward to going on Iona 12th Nov. Thanks for a great video
George South Yorkshire
Thanks George! Hope you have a smashing time, she is a great ship!
Top video fella, on this in January. Great info. Nice tips. Keep cruising............!
Thanks Mike! Hope you have a smashing time!
I was on that cruise, had a balcony cabin on deck 8, no problem at all, was nice to chat to people walking by, don`t know what all the hassle is about them?
Was a lovely cruise apart from the weather coming home. LOL
Hello Jeffrey! If you’re sociable then they’re perfect, just depends on the type of person I guess; but it’s important to make people aware, as a lot of people don’t know about them! And yes, the trip home was interesting ha!
@@sailawaymag did you get to meet Matt and Kelly ? Had a nice chat with them.
I didn’t unfortunately! I saw that they were on their from Instagram, but never bumped into them on board
That would be my worst nightmare.
Great tour. Haven't really considered P&O before but now I really want to go on Iona. I've only done 2 cruises before, 1 Celebrity and 1 NCL. Iona looks fairly different to either of those.
Hello Stephen. Well I've cruised with Celebrity and I really rate them as a cruise line. Iona is quite close to Celebrity, and is definately the best P&O ship for food and service based on my experience with the company. There are quite a lot of cruises out there on Iona which are very fairly priced at the moment. I wouldn't say Iona is as good as Celebrity, however P&O are charging a lot less as a cruise fare, and prices on board are lower too.
Brilliant and thorough review. Im inspired to go on iona.
Thanks Janet :) you really should, she’s fantastic! We had such a great time!
I have just booked her 7nights Fjords in June.
@@janethoughton6094 that’ll be amazing! I haven’t done Norway for long. May have to book the fjords for this yeah!
Fantastic tour thank you
Just booked this for July. Glad I found this video, shows me exactly what I wanted, thanks.
Can I just ask where the aerial videos were from? Did you film them yourself?
Yes, I filmed them with my drone :)
@@sailawaymag awesome. Please do a video of just the aerial views, I've been looking all round UA-cam for shots of Iona like that. Also, I think you might be right about it appealing to new customers - we've never cruised before and this looks perfect for us.
Thanks Darren! I’ll do that. Did an aerial video of Marella Explorer on our channel, however didn’t get many views so didn’t do one for ships after that! I’ll put a video together of aerial footage I got from Iona, so keep an eye out for it :) Merry Christmas!
On her at the end of this week so excited
Hope you have a fantastic time Jake :)
Have fun riding her mate 😂
Roll on 2024 when we cruise the canary islands
On this lol
We hope that you have an amazing time!
Leaving for 2 weeks on Mch 18 down to the Canaries. looks like it will take that long to check out all the Bars / Restaurants.
She defiantly is a big ship! Hope you have a wonderful time, let us know what you think once onboard! ☺️
Hello Jay. Many thanks indeed for a very informative programme, which was very enjoyable. "IONA" certainly makes the ship I emigrated to Australia on back in April 1961, look like a little tin can. Mate; would you mind answering some questions for me please; given that I have not been on board a ship since December 2004 and again in late January 2005. We sailed on the P & O & Orient Line ship RMS Oronsay (a 28K ton ship) from Tilbury on 28 March 1961 (strangely enough this date was my future wife's 13th Birthday). It was what we used to call "The Milk Run" stopping all stations from Tilbury, Marseilles, Naples, Suez (then through the canal) Aden, Bombay, Colombo, Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney and on to Brisbane. We made Fremantle on Wednesday 19 April, 1961 and departed around 1800 hours; landing at Port Melbourne on Sunday 23 April, 1961. The ship then went on to Sydney and Brisbane. It was one of the most glorious trips of my life. It cost £10.00.00 for each adult and around £5.00.00 for us kids. We travelled Tourist Class and all our food was included in the fare. You might say; what slops did the feed us. Well mate; we had three course meals, some consisting of a couple of Pheasants per person, preceded by soup and desert. One evening meal we were fed "T" bone steaks. All three meals were included that consisted of fruit juice, Porridge/Cereal and tea/coffee served in our cabins on awakening; and later around 0830 hours; we went to the dining room for a hot breakfast of Bacon/Lamb Chops/eggs Toast, coffee/tea. AT around 1000 hours; we kids were served as much Ice Cream as we could eat. Lunch was a Three course meal that was fit for a king. Afternoon tea was served in the dining room at 1530 hours and the tables were laid on with cakes, chocolate eclairs et al. Dinner (we had the second sitting) was at 2000 hours and again Three course meals were served; and at around 2230 hours, sandwiches were served for supper. The quality of food was simply brilliant. There was no charge for food, (all inclusive) but we had to purchase our own soft drinks (which cost us Scots kids 3d, because we knew how to save a penny or three, whilst the English, Irish and Welsh kids paid 1/6d for the same drinks. Adults however had to buy their own beer and spirits. What I would like to know is how many restaurants were there on the IONA? I did note there were some restaurants where you had to pay a small additional fee. Did you have to pay for alcohol when having meals in any of the restaurants or was it included in the fare. Likewise; were there any good restaurants on the ship which included food and alcohol with your meals? I watched your programme on the food service on Queen Mary 2 (Cunard) an I was horrified at the exorbitant cost they charged for meals. In fact, I did watch about three videos (your video was one of the 3) and they all said the same thing. Two videos said Food was pathetic, and what they depicted on film was atrocious. Compared to Cunard, P & O and the other cruise lines were fabulous. Thanks Jay. Sorry to bore you with all the ramblings. Och; last question. Does IONA sail out of the UK only and are the cruises Caribbean or Mediterranean based. Cheers mate.
Hey Angus, thanks for sharing it sounds like you had an amazing time!
Iona has lots restaurants, bar and lounge options onboard. The restaurants which are chargeable does not include alcoholic drinks, so you would need to pay extra for these.
Iona only sails out of Southampton at the moment, however We’re sure they will offer alternative sailings down the line.
Thank you so much for watching our videos, and never feel afraid or silly for asking questions - that’s what we’re here for! 😃
@@sailawaymag Hi Dan & Jay. Thank you kindly for your response which is very appreciated. Yes we did have a marvellous time on Oronsay. I wish that trip could have lasted forever. Three years after disembarking at Port Melbourne, which is when I obtained my Drivers' Licence, I bought me my first car; a 1955 Hillman Minx Sedan for £275.00.00 (Yes Australia used the same currency as Sterling) and thereafter; each time Oronsay called in at Station Pier Port Melbourne, I'd drive up there and just gaze at it. In those days; the arrival and departures of all ships were published in the newspaper. Then late in 1964, when Oronsay was scheduled to call again at Port Melbourne, I drove up to Station Pier, and could not find the ship. The reason; Oronsay and Orcades had been transferred to the P & O Fleet, and they had changed the livery of those two ships from the corn coloured hull to the P & O white livery. I was quite distraught to see that. On or around 14 September 1975, Oronsay called in at Port Melbourne for the last time. It was indeed a sad occasion for me. I sat on the wharf and just stared at her; reminiscing. Oronsay departed for Sydney that day and on 16 September 1975; she departed for the last time; flying her 50 metre paying off pennant bound for the breakers yard in Taiwan. It was quite a distressing sight. My wife said to me; "If I were you; I would not worry; you will soon be shaving with her." Sorry to ramble on. It is just the ramblings of an old man reminiscing. Cheers my friends.
Never be worried to share your stories, we love to read them! 😃
@@sailawaymag Thanks mate. I grew up around ships. My father was a Chief Engineer on the Orient Line, and ended up just prior to retirement as Superintendent Engineer at the Commonwealth Government Engine Works at Port Melbourne, where the constantly rebuilt the Napier deltic Engines on the Tasmanian Ferry operated by the Australian National Line, known as The "Princess of Tasmania". Stay safe my friends.
norwegian fjords 2024 we just booked this is so helpful and Informative is drinks cheap enough on board etc
Hello Phil, thanks for your feedback! Iona is a cracking ship, we’ve done 28 different ships so far and she’s one of our favourites. Drinks aren’t too badly priced, but I’ve copied a link below of our video on P&O drink packages so you can decide whether they’re worth it for you. Hope you have a great time :)

@@sailawaymag thanks.
Hello Dan & Jay, great tour video, we are going on Iona next year. My question is, what sort of camera do you use please. Cheers Paul & Sue
Hello, thanks for your feedback! This video was filmed using a DJI Mini 2. Since then, we now use a Sony ZV1. Hope that helps :)
Your drone footage really is remarkable!
You sir, are too sweet! Thank you! We love your videos too, hope you had a great time on her 😙
Thanks great tour
Great filming to see everything on the ship looks incredible can't wait for June 2022 I love Big cruise ships and wouldn't go on a small ship Iona is my style too .
They aren't cruise ships. It's just having a good time inside the ship that's all they are. They want a captive guest to spend all their time on the ship spending with the occasional stop. People on these ships look at what they can do & see inside it, as a proper cruise ship you look to where it's going too, to see different places & yes you want a nice ship but that is cruising, not a party ship.
They are cruise ships, but every cruiser has their preference to what they like. Personally, I like larger ships but there’s something about the intimacy of a smaller ship that I quite like. At least there’s variety for us :)
Can't believe you did not check out the golf range and basketball courts I would definitely want to see them
All the more to look look forward to once onboard then :)
Looks a beautiful ship.. it’s huge as you said .. I’m lost already ☺️ a better review than you gave QM2 .. thanks for sharing x
Thankyou for all your reviews we are going on are first cruise this year thanks too your grate reviews we will definitely follow your sea legs on Iona 🙂🫡
Thanks Nat, glad it was helpful! Hope you have a fabulous time - she’s a great ship!
Enjoyed watching guys👍🏻 Keep up the great work.
Will he travelling on IONA June 2024 to the Fjords in a forward balcony cabin on deck 12 with the wife & daughter. Really looking forward to it, hopefully weather & views will be spectacular, the ship looks fantastic! 🚢🛟🌊🇳🇴☀️🥂
Just out of interest what date did you guys travel on this cruise? ship looked extremely chilled and low key👍🏻

Absolutely fantastic TOUR!! Best I've seen by far. Great music, informative and the drone footage you've took blew me away! The drone footage seems to be excellent on all of your videos, is it your own footage?
Hello Claire! Thanks for your kind comments, I’m glad you enjoy our videos! Yes, all of the drone footage we use in our videos is our own :)
@@sailawaymag wow! Its incredible footage, very impressive!
Great Tour 🙂
Thanks Rob ☺️
Excellent, very informative.
Thanks, Joyce! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Omg .. great video & looks fabulous but that would be my worse nightmare !!!! I 4000 plus passenges !!! will stick to silversea , crystal, regent etc ...
Hello Patricia! Thanks for your comment. These big ships aren’t for everyone, hopefully I can experience Silversea when my wallet is a little bit bigger hehe 😋. Best regards, Jay
@@sailawaymag you will get there one day !!! I first started cruising in 1998.. royal Caribbean sovereign of the seas ..out of Miami omg .it was incredible !! Not to big a ship 2000 passenger full capacity but amazing ..dress each evening for dinner no shorts or jeans at night ..those were the days ..had 35 cruises with royal Caribbean international ..about 10 with silversea & 8 between crystal & regent ... Just to say I luv cruising 🚢 ..once again fabulous video from you ...
Hey. Can you let us know what camera was used on this tour? Thanks
I used a DJI Pocket 2 for record this in 4K! Hope this helps :)
@@sailawaymag thank you
Just another block of flats. Have a gander at Pacific Dawn/Ambience cruise ship & see how good a cruise ship can look. Now it's all about massiveness & inward looking with all its tricks inside. Cruise ships should be outward looking seeing the world, these ships don't, it's just party-time really.
Was there lockers for personal belongings when at pools....
Great video, what drone do you have, I will be going on Iona in September and have a DJI mini 2 drone I'll be taking
Hello, glad you enjoyed the video. The drone I use is also a DJI Mini 2 - I absolutely love it, best value drone on the market I'd say!
@@sailawaymag That's the same drone I use. it gives exceptional quality and is tiny, I love it. I was wondering if I could land on a moving ship, then thought it probably wouldnt end well
@@ARFilms2 yeah it’s risky! True story, it happened to me once by accident! Was on Marella Discovery and we let go our lines and thrusted off quicker than I was expecting. Had to put the drone into sport mode to keep up with the ship and crash land on a clear bit of deck! Thankfully the drone was undamaged, and I didn’t take someone’s head off either! If you’re confident in your piloting skills you can give it a go - going on Queen Elizabeth end of the month to Amsterdam, hoping to get some good shots of her transiting the locks!
GET ME ON THAT SHIP NOW
Have you been on her yet?
Can anyone tell me if the sauna and steam room is included in the cost of the Cruise on Iona please
I'm not entirely sure James. I'm pretty sure that there isn't a free sauna and steam room on Iona, and that you have to take out a spa package which will give you access to the hydrotherapy pool and thermal suite. This package cost us £35pp for 2 hours.
Roll on Saturday 👍 18th
In your opinion, would two Americans feel out of place on an Iona cruise?
Hello Tony. Iona is a great ship, and I’m sure you’d enjoy it - in the same way I love going on the very Americanised ships like Royal Caribbean and NCL. Just prepare yourself for lots of tea and cake, Union Jack flag waving and some British humour which may go over your head! Whilst we were onboard, they had several tribute performers to American artists including Pink, Lady Gaga and Bon Jovi.
What is the app? Can't tell what he says
You can only access the P&O app while you're connected to the ship's WiFi. Once connected, it should automatically take you to the portal on Safari - or the equivalent on Android, and you'll be able to book restaurants, shows, tour excursions etc.
Wow, what a ship! We loved P&O Iona, and it ranks as one of the best cruise ships we've ever sailed on - let us know what you thought of her, by leaving us a comment below!!
Loved Iona , even being one of the older passengers , first saw it and thought 💭 ahh ok , by the second day we loved it , so much to do . We were away for 14 days , and still didn’t see everything . Highly recommend for any age , my young Son wife and family are actually on it now . Same cruise as you are on . Back into Southampton tomorrow morning 😀 XxxxxxX we’ve already FaceTimed and I could see and hear the excitement in their voices ☺️😀❤️❤️❤️❤️

Türkçe olmadığı için hiçbir şey anlamadım.
Başdan sona seyrettim, izledim.
Just came back from a week to Norway and back. I thought the ship was spectacular. But it was fully booked and far, far too busy. The cost was very reasonable; I believe P and O fill the ship and make their profit on excursions and booze. Sounding like a complete snob, my opinion was that the ship was far too good for many of the passengers. Main issue was the enormity of many of the passengers. They were there to eat, eat, eat. There was literally no shame as they spent all day shovelling food in their mouths. Morbid obesity was the order of the day. I won’t go again on this ship but would chose a better cruise line eg silver seas.
Hello, thanks for your comment! Sorry to read you didn't enjoy your experience aboard Iona - while we had a great time on board and liked much of what was on offer, we share some of your opinions and observations. Hope your next cruise is a more enjoyable one :)
Similar to other cruise ships I suspect. Went on MSC Virtuosa last November and the obesity shocked me. I've seen some big people but this was something else. Actually quite distressing to see.
Seen this was the FULL tour. Now know Iona doesn't have any cabins
How very pedantic! You’ll find that full ship tours don’t usually contain cabins - we have a separate video for a Balcony Cabin tour. By your logic, we should have filmed all 2610 of them - as well as every crew area and ballast tank. 🙄
Great Tour!
