Me & my wife have just booked Iona, I was watching this video with her and we are getting as much entertainment out of the commentary as we are getting amazing information about the cruise. Thanks Jamie stay awesome :)
Nice to see the finished article. I spent a few months fitting out, the Iona in the Meyer Werth shipyard in Papenburg Germany, where she was built. Painful memories of walking and average 6 miles a day as the shipyard and the vessel where vast. And no operational elevators or lifts for most of the time I was there.. A colossus of a ship !!
This really is your complete and ultimate cruise ship tour of P&O cruises Iona and the most comprehensive Iona tour on the internet. You won't want to miss this and it's coming to you on Saturday 28 August at 7.45am.
Great video, really informative. Good that you mentioned the costs of speciality restaurants. I was surprised how many venues are included. It's a beautiful ship I loved your commentary, humourous yet still delivering the facts. You were so lucky with your weather.
Thank you very much. Yes, the whole summer we’ve been very fortunate with the weather! Disney Magic at the weekend we were drenched with sunshine too. Yeeees!
Great video, really entertaining. With you on the Crow's Nest, fabulous space. We gave the "gymnauseum" a wide berth too & must have missed the showers in the Glass House! 😉
Thanks for this your - loved it and can’t wait until next May when we sail to Norway. Can you let me know if Iona uses key cards as room keys and for charging purchases - thank you
Hi Jamie 👋 thank you for taking the time to make and share this. Looks a lovely ship and having NEVER cruised before I’m looking to book a cruise for my 60th next year. I was looking to see the age group on this ship and it seemed to be a mix of 30’s - onwards. I was surprised when you mentioned children having not seen any throughout your tour. I don’t want a cruise with children but would you say it’s not an issue as they have their own area? Also would you say most us included in cost of cruise apart from the restaurants you mentioned. What about WiFi? If you’re not big drinkers would you advise against drink packages? Thanks Jamie 😊
Wifi not included in cruise fare (packages available of course), drinks packages available but with so many restrictions and drinks onboard so reasonable anyway I wouldn’t recommend, personally. Plenty of places for children, yes. ❤️
A fantastic vlog! Thank you Jamie. Going to Norwegian Fiords on Iona next July, can’t wait! Found this extremely helpful. Looking forward to your next vlogs! 😊
Hi Jamie, when heading for a swim, where do you leave your clothes. Are there lockers/ changing or is it just the case of leaving your clothes on your sun loungers. Obviously, swim wear is on underneath the clothes 😂
Great video ! very informative and well edited. As I and my friends like to play table tennis on board, I wonder whether you have spotted any table tennis table on Iona ship ?
Well done Jamie , a really comprehensive tour, a week wasn't long enough . There was some places we didn't get to. Good job we are on her again next September.👍👍
Great video. Went on my very first cruise ever on Britannia round the UK in September, and have now booked on Iona for a Spain and Portugal trip in March. Ship looks amazing, so happy it has a full promenade- I missed that on Britannia, and the skydome looks epic. Britannia's mini prom on deck 18 was nice but got very repetitive! Of course being a back to cruising special, Britannia I think was 50% capacity so extra quiet, but I still got the impression you'd find space even at full capacity, and the same I'm sure holds true with Iona. What would you say is Iona's equivalent to the Crystal Room? Kept going there for the individual quiz, won it finally on the last day!
We always found space on Britannia prior to the pandemic tbh. Iona doesn’t really have an equivalent of the crystal lounge but the limelight is used j. The same way during the daytime.
@@TravelBlogJamie Cheers. Also do you know much about sofa beds on Iona? I've tried and tried but can't find any photos anywhere of what they look like when made up- how much space they leave to get to the balcony etc, or how comfortable they are! Any insight? :)
Great video, many thanks!... The Iona seems very beautiful and very international in mind, maybe Carnival Group has something in mind for P&O other than being such an exclusive UK market niche brand... My favorite areas seem to be that huge 3 decks atrium and the Dome pool and show area!... Great design and venues!... My least favorite are definitively those deck 8 balcony cabins with basically no privacy from the outside. Whom the heck has designed that thing???... Hope them to correct this at the first mandatory dry dock in 5 years term, at least by transforming them on fully enclosed family rooms with an infinity window with dark protected glass so that nobody can see them from the outside. Have a nice day!...
This was a U.K. trip and we were able to get off at the 2 ports independently BUT anyone 17 and under had to be a part of an excursion (so families had to take an excursion; we don’t had kids so not a problem for us)
@@TravelBlogJamie thanks Jamie. Do you happen to know the policies for European destinations now? Can UK vaccinated passengers go onshore independently (ie without joining a P and O escorted excursion) on a Mediterranean cruise from Southampton? Thank you.
@@GaT-ik8mn vaccinated passengers can go ashore independently in line with that country’s protocol (and documentation is likely to be needed to be completed in advance of arrival). Some cruise lines do not allow this for those 17 and under, however, unless booked on to a ship excursion.
Happy memories, can't wait to be back on her in October. Your commentary is so funny too Jamie, had me chuckling 😂 What's with the three thumbs down, who are these people???🤷
One told me today I will have put off so many first time cruisers because of my comments about the kids club. I think they need a sense of humour transplant and a lot of tequila. 🤣
Have just booked Iona for September and after watching this vlog I am now getting very excited 😆 thanks for all the info ⚓️🛟⚓️
