- Short documentary on the first world's worst housing projects: le Vele in Scampia, north Naples. If you have anything better (pardon me, worse) much respect. Otherwise... well, you know...
Viva Napoli!
Wonderful video !Merry Christmas everyone !
im from scampia!! but i love it.
wow it would be cozy to live there..love it!
Didn't look like that in my holiday brochure. Thanks for uploading this I'm going to cancel my booking.
I lived in the Hulme Cresents, Manchester UK estate in early 90s that was bad. It was 60-70% ocupied when I was there. Of the residents %50 squaters %50 rent payers. I'd say 30-40% employment. Open drug dealing and people shhting in empty flats, people digging in staiwells and empty flate, homeless camps, grows in flats, police did not patrol. I saw one guy macheted in the face and him in my doorstem holding his face together. I saw a dead junkey in a phone box, they had stolen his shoes & coat, another junkey i saw dead as vigilanties had killed him for lighting fires. So I only saw two dead in my time there.
Come si chiama la canzone all'inizio??
@FilmFan2500 Basically she complains about life conditions in the building. These building are now half empty, as tenants are waiting for the state to give them new apts in better housing projects. (Most apts are occupied, though, and new people that have nowhere to go move in daily) In the basement there's drug addicts and she's scared her sons might have a problem (if the addicts do something bad then her sons would be forced to kill'em and thus have some problems) :-)
@thomtini
Yes. Actually, of the original 7 buildings, 3 were demolished (and one wasn't even bombed well and stood half blown up for more than a year), and only 4 remain standing now. I heard that somewhere in the south of France there's exactly the same buildings but all new and very expensive, where high income people live.
@Protizmenos
ive been in ljubljiana for new years'day. its beautiful and the people is friendly. how can u compare it with this slums of naples?
That image on HK is not public housing by a high-rise luxury condo!
I've been to Rione 167 (Le Vele aka Scampia) several times, it's a total dump. Syringes everywhere on the ground, I'm not kidding, you have to watch where you step constantly, you always look down. There are good people there in awful situations. La Camorra (Napoli Mafia) finds people here to do their dirty work. I don't think it's the worst ghetto/project in the world though, but if Scampia is then the projects aren't so bad, besides many people that live here think Barra is worse.
@XeptoRs It's a beat made by my friend O Kiatt
Nice beat can you upload this beat?
''Hotel Paradise'' Sofia in Bulgaria gets my No1, ''Le Vele/Te Sails' Scampia in Naples , Italy No2 , ''The Cresents & Estates'' Hulme in Manchester England No3.
@mrtundra45 I agree ,not Boston ,Detroit ,Newark ,La ...and these cities are much bigger than Naples .
Pride of Italy
SONG name?
I guess that the people who move in here no longer pay rent, because the owner stopped doing maintenance or even repairs decades ago. This makes me wonder, can they still get water, electricity and heating in there, if there is no maintenance done to it?
It wouldn't surprise me if this block reaches the headlines some day because it has burnt down or has crashed down and there is a huge death toll. Makes you feel bad for the occupants.
I remember the Raymond Rosen projects in Philly, it stunk and it was terrible looking. It was like 5 buildings and im not 100% sure, but like 14 stories tall. People used to get thrown off of the roof and elevator shafts. This place looks worse, and has a weird design for a projects
@tonyaltamura Pensarefare è un'associazione apolitica. Non ti piace come votano i miei compaesani, ma cosa ci posso fare? I tuoi compaesani o connazionali votano bene? Auguri.
