Thank you for the upload. My wife and partner can do locksteps forward and backward with either foot leading(from our tango milonga) I am not a teacher but we simplify our quickstep locksteps with just the triple step on man's left foot turning left, right, backward or forwards. It works!!! I haven't tried this with anyone else though.

What is in the lead that the woman knows you are doing a Lock Step.

I would say that mostly left side lead and movement forward without turn signals that it's Lock Step.
