A few weeks ago we went by thier facility and got the grand tour. I'm an A&P so I tend to look at the details and I was impressed. The paint facility is first class. They did not have a Super Patriot there at the time but lots of other projects were being finished. They even had a twin Aeronca and a Husky. The parts inventory was well organized too. I wish them great success!
I know Don and Ron very well. Two things I can say about them: top notch quality in all they do and the nicest, most genuine guys you’ll ever meet. You won’t go wrong with their product.
A few things that weren't mentioned in the video, which is great, but time wouldn't allow: First, the fuselage is 4" wider than standard. This might not sound like much, but it's huge when it comes to getting in and out and flying the aircraft - no "foot rub" on the inside of the fuselage. During the STOL demonstration, Cameron got her up and off in 81 feet - pretty good, but great when one considers that we didn't do anything to prepare for it other than roll the aircraft over! She went from display to STOL and back to display, seats and all! And yes, I work for Patriot Aircraft on the airframe side - there's a little bit of me in her.
Great content, as usual Bryan. Yes you need to fly the Patriot for a more first person look. Looking at the specs, it seems too heavy, but Jaden’s comment about the comparisons with the CC was gold. Nice airplane!
Sweet look and love the paint. Nice panel. We would love a newly tail rated pilot to fly it. hint hint! Love you Buddy.I have a few hours in a Citabria. Love Juggle Jim Flyers i.e. tube and fabric. Lots of hand holds.
Amazing airplane but if you look at the build sheet and options its cost prohibitive compared to other experimental designs, it costs nearly as much as a certified airplane
I think a lot of STOL flyers are wanting max. STOL so the elephant in the room is can this plane be built to better performance with slats? Are the manufacturers offering this options and others such as VGs, etc?? Buyers will want to compare with Legend's MOAC and others and STOL performance probably is more important than engine accessibility although that is certainly an advantage for the Patriot.
nice.. first thing i thought of when i saw it front on.. have a row of LEDS around the air intakes behind the prop... make it a smiley or angry face at night lol
I still don't understand why you'd choose a 1-1 seating configuration over having a side by side up front. Can someone explain the reasonin behind this?
@@whateverthedaybrings2268 100% agree for sure. The video claims the baddest, not the lightest. I love these guys craftsmanship they really cared about the details that make for a good airplane. Cool paint job too.
Patey’s aircraft are space X technology, designed to see how far the limits can be pushed, never to be sold to general public. So, what Mike designs is irrelevant since no one is ever going to incorporate his parts into an airplane, where the part cost more than the whole plane.
No way! Tandem is the way to go! When you go to the movies, do you sit right in the middle? Or do you sit off to the side? Although a 4 seat side by side cub would be cool.. I hear Javeron is got one in the works.
I would be interested how this compares to a CC FX3 or Legend Super Cub HP / MOAC in performance, like range, Cruze, payload etc…Particularly in cost. Both Cub Crafters and Legend Cub list price on their web pages to give you and idea of budget.
The take off and climb performance of the planes you mentioned would most likely crush this plane only because they have loads more HP, they are lighter, and they have hartzel trailblazers on the nose.
@@Lickety-Split, the frame is a Carbon Cub frame that has been modified. I know, your going to say that a modified Cub isn't really a cub, but if that is true then the Cub in this video also is not a Cub.

OK i guess, Not a cub for sure. Bigger, better & still a fixed pitch prop ? My old super with a 160 and a constant speed prop is the way to go. However if it looks like a cub its all good
300k and a lot of those welds look shakey. I would like to cut some of those tubes at random and see, but from what I can see in the video not good. For that money and today’s welding technology you should see picture perfect welds and on an aircraft no less.
The elephant in the room thats missing is specifications , wing area , weight , engine size and type , stall speed , wing loading ... It looks like a cub but how can you ask us what we think .. you gave almost zero information on the airplane lol ... I think this was a waste of time is what I think .. look at the pretty airplane ... well what's in it ?
Looks interesting, well considered features. The term 'Patriot' is a very misunderstood word that encourages many dysfunctional conversations. 'Super Patriot'? - I don't want to even bother being in a group where I say that. It seems petty....but it is real.
"Patriot" in the early days before the colonial revolution would be called a "terrorist" today. The non-patriots then were called "loyalists". Today they're called "karens"...or government workers.
Yawn.... another overpriced Cub-clone. The solution to producing a kit aircraft when you don't know enough about engineering to design something better.

Nice to see Don doing it right on the best of KISS and creating one great airplane!
My goodness I would love to have a plane but for now I will just be here drooling over the awesome planes you show us all

I bet YOU would love to fly and report on this one. :-)

This is beautiful
WE wanted:
1.High wing loading
2.Pilot friendly
3.Mechanic friendly
4. Affordable 😱 Kidding ! We’re totally KIDDING - Forget About IT ! 😧
How much mechanical work are pilots allowed to do on LSA planes?
@@lynnkramer1211 This is not a LSA aircraft!
light wing loading you mean,no worries.
It is nice but really expensive
On the takeoff roll the tail came off the ground before it started rolling forward!! I likey!
THAT is a cool airplane! Just had to share...
Awesome paint boys!
Very nice !
Yes fly it!!!
Ok! Thanks for the vote to FLY! :-)

Cruise speed? website says "Economy Cruise 90mph", how do they define economy? 75% throttle?
Would be good to have more detailed specs on the website to compare against Bearhawk Patrol
No kidding .. video total waste of time without specs
Nice Noice unit ...but no gap filling
What’s the range, I didn’t catch it

$300K starting price!!

Yes.....Don (and his brother Ron) are quite the characters. Fun people to work with. :-)
Sweet plane…
It's certainly awesome, but I bet Mike Patey could make the baddest supercub seem somewhat lackluster. Not anyone's fault, it's just what he does.
Just here for these comments. Lol
No he couldn't, because by the time he got done with it, it would weigh 3000 lbs.
@@scotabot7826 Nah. Give him parameters and he would accept any challenge and find a way to do it in the most awesome way possible.

How about a Super Tri Pacer Colt????
Love it, but until I win the lottery, I can't afford a 300K airplane!! Plus, I can buy the exact same components and build it for a whole lot less.
Let’s see, house vs same price aircraft. Uh that was easy, yep it’s still a millionaires game even with these tiny toys.
Is it cheaper than the x cub
I think MANY are. :-)

Sadly, it has one major flaw..... it needs to be a side by side. Other than that, I love it !!

4 place one day!
Side by side has it's proponents (mainly for the passenger), but tandem is far better for the pilot's visib. esp. in bush conditions.

My complaint as well ... have no idea why he made a video of a plane with zero information on it ..
Hey Don ... Just on your webpage for the Super Patriot .... No Price Info !!!!!!!!!!! No thank you.
Its because the price is so high they'd rather not talk about it.
As the saying goes in aviation: If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it. ( No disrespect, I can't afford it.) 😁
Range speed and payload are still important. Why none of these guys want to talk about those numbers?
Because these are not "range" and "speed" airplanes!
It looks sick but it's probably $300k like all the other super cubs...
One of the baddest Super Cubs, but not the worlds baddest. That title goes to Mike Petey's Scrappy.
And most Cubs will fly rings around Mikes "Cub"!!!
