Phil your channel is unique in that you teach how to do more than just show how to do. I still struggle with implementation but you’ve taught me a lot thank you.

Great lesson…very well presented. And I love the rooster crowing in the background.

Phil, this was an amazing video. Wonderful examples and explanations! You really broke it all down so well. I truly appreciate all your lessons. They are very helpful. Thank you.

Good lesson Phil. Three keys to depth creation. I gotta learn to premix colors before painting and arrange by tint tone and shade for the several different planes in the painting. I jusy "mix as I go" and it ends up convoluted as a result.

Thanks, it does help to mix the values for the big shapes.

Thanks for the vid. Questions: what about adding 4th plane/ground? How about doing the further grounds in high key and the very 1st foreground in low key? Or maybe full key? I am just playing with the idea to exxaggerate the concept of visual depth further.

You can certainly change the value relationships between the planes to create more or less contrast. Once you understand the concept, rules can bee broken.
