I'm very certain that was a reference to arnolds terminator, he even mentioned the line "i'll be back" and the villain was wearing a similar jacket arny wore in terminator.

Also, claymores wouldn't do that to a building--especially when you plant them outside. A classic 80s action movie and a guilty pleasure that I like to revisit from time to time. Arnie's John Matrix is such an overwhelming force of nature that those guys outside the exploding buildings are frozen with fear, unable to move.😆

I turned my teenaged so onto this movie last night. He read the description about how it was full of one liners(all great), Arnold taking out scores of the bad guys etc. We were howling laughing beginning with the plane exit. What a soft landing. Another sweet kill that we rewound a few times in an attempt to capture exactly what happened was the incredible skill saw blade/throwing star. I don't know if the miscreant actually died(he probably did from sepsis a couple of days later)but he was thoroughly scalped. He was out of the fight for sure. Arnold's hip shooting was fantastic.
Used to think this movie was badass as a kid. Arnold is one reason I began working out. Now I can see how corny and rediculous it really was. Yet I still love it.

This island most likely inspired the cayo perico DLC in GTA Online. The compound is similar to Rubio's and the enemies drive around in jeeps. Note Cayo Perico was inspired by Carlos Lehdar's island as well but I feel Rocktar took inspiration from this film.
Fancy meeting you here, Professional! That said, it wouldn't be surprising if Cayo Perico was inspired by Commando, especially with the gung-ho one man army aesthetic shared between the two.
It makes sense. The history of Tommy Vercetti from GTA Vice City was inspired by the history of Tony Montana from Scarface. Even the entire city is based on 80's Miami.
