Fortunately I like recording from the usbc port so if it does go. It’s not the end of the word to me. However I’d pay sigma to fix it. I fired my camera - gave it 12v via dummy battery last year and had to send it in. Sigma gave me a loaner until they fixed it. They fixed the camera with the tilt screen mods on it and everything lol. I paid full price I had no warranty. Lol

    This is a cool rig! I would personally have opted for the BM Video Assist 7" and recorded BRAW 5:1 to a fast UHS-II SD card. Just because the CDNG files are pretty cumbersome and storage intensive. Plus fewer things going in and out of the camera. Otherwise this is an amazing setup. The SSD caddy looks like a fantastic option if you're not looking for BRAW

    • @LocksleyLennoxfilms

      I like BRAW I use it everyday at work with the black magic cameras. However, using slim raw is amazing for doing post compression. I don’t always use a monitor with my rig when traveling for example. On vacation.

    Love your Sigma FP videos. This rig looks amazing! Makes the camera very capable. I have som questions regarding recording in Director's Viewfinder, that you might be able to answer. I've heard different things about this mode. Some say that this mode can record desqueezed anamorphic video, is this correct? Can I record FHD 12bit Raw in Director's Viewfinder with an anamorphic lens that is properly desqueezed? Is it desqeezed from 16:9 or full sensor open gate? If recording is possible, does it record the image as hardcoded desqueezed or as a squeezed image?

      If you have the extra time for example working on narrative projects. Then cDNG is what I would use. The uncompressed raw without a doubt will give you more room to push the grade.

    rthank you very much for the presentation - but: rather expensive accessories ... and unfortunately the tilt modification for the sigma monitor isn't available anymore.. but: for not so professional shooters there is an adapter solution for smartphones to work as an external monitor: Accsoon - with this rather affordable solution you can use your high res smart phone for the flexible sight on the display..

      @LocksleyLennoxfilms I know all about life happening. Lost a business due to that, I'm getting back on the horse now with something else. Your video definitely wants to make me get a Sigma FP though, you have a very beautiful setup. Unfortunately I'm not ready to buy a camera just yet, waiting on tax return which I won't get for another 3 months. I'm sure your camera will be long gone by then. Good luck in whatever future endeavors you have bro.

      @@03chrisv this is a very niche camera so I think there are other options that are better for most use cases.

    • @03chrisv
      @03chrisv 8 місяців тому +1

      @LocksleyLennoxfilms Yeah, that's true. My use case is for studio use on a tripod/gimbal or recording cityscape night scenes on a tripod. 4K at 24/30fps is all I need, though 4K 60 is fine if the camera can do it, but 99% of what I want to record I want to have that "cinema look". I'm only considering the Sigma FP because it's full frame which is great for low light and because used ones in great condition can be found for around $1200 to $1300 with a 45mm lens included.
      Though something like the new 2023 model Canon R8 is also full frame and can be bought as low as around $1,100 new on sale (black Friday deals) and is probably a more well rounded hybrid camera than the Sigma FP, it can even do 4K60 in C-LOG without any crop. Also both the FX30 and Lumix S5ii can be found in certain outlets for under $1,500 new right now due to sales, both of which are probably better than the Sigma FP in a lot of ways.
      I think I just like the way the Sigma FP looks, especially with the add-ons. It inspires me in a way that most other cameras don't, but I do acknowledge there are better cameras for the price out there. I've been told before in the past to buy the cheapest camera body that will get the job done and to not waste money on features I don't need and save the money for other things like lenses, monitors, etc. I might just end up with the Canon R8 just because of that, even though I don't find it particularly exciting or think it has an attractive body design.

      What misinformation are you talking about? Is 1tb not enough? 1 hour record time?

    • @UriRa
      @UriRa 8 місяців тому +1

      @@LocksleyLennoxfilms,Not only about this.
      But 1 Tb is ridiculous for fp, I don’t have such small disks, I use several of 2 and 4 Tb, and then I stack them for direct mounting, without overloading them into the computer.
      I can tell you about other questionable decisions.
      A rotating screen for fp is evil, you have lost moisture protection for the sake of dubious convenience, which is easily implemented differently.
      And so on.
      It's your choice, I just want to say that it's far from ideal...
