Why this video works. I've made a bunch of youtube videos lately. This video really works because the guy is clear, to the point, you can hear him without background noise (no computer case fan hum, no background noise, etc.), and the video is clear. He is recording off computer, not trying to point the camera at the blurry monitor. He gets to the point fast. You might have to stop the video to carefully see what he does, but you can see it. He doesn't leave anything unnecessary out, and includes everything you need. Its very frustrating watching people click on this and that in Blender and not know what they pushed or clicked. Pretty much everything you want to know about text in blender in a 7 minute video. Awesome!
I spent an hour last night trying to figure out text (first use of blender). I spent another TWO hours trying to follow various tutorials. This video is great. I appreciate the speed. I'm gonna hit pause anyway if I'm following along, and if I'm not following along I'd MUCH rather have a 7 minute video than 70 minute video. I REALLY appeciate the short references to things like the text panel, where things are, what they mean. Just a few words for context, SUPER helpful. This will be my first stop for tutorials.
@@Brandon-3D There are so many tutorials out there with so much techno-jargon you feel like quitting. This is a breath of fresh air in natural human language and not somebody waffling on like you need a PhD!
new to Blender, you forgot to mention # 6:26 to press the Material view button top right THEN you can color (had to watch another video to know why my 3D text did not turn green), good video
Thank you so much for this great explanation! It helped me understand text feature in Blender. I'm already a subscriber to your channel. U R Z Best!!🤩🤩🤩
So that’s how you get italics to go the other direction! Shear! Thanks much! I do a lot of 3D printing, and I was looking for a way to make scripts for a car to slant the other way for a left front fender. That just made a WORLD of difference! 👍🏾👍🏾
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth...I love the vid, great stuff, clear and awesome. I'm looking for advice on making text for games. When taking the text that has been made a mesh, what way do you find best to optimize it? I'll be unwrapping and using Painter to texture. I've tried different decimates and I'm just never totally happy with the topology of the final mesh (for Unreal and such as FBX). Thanks so much!
Thank you, nice Tutorial but it's not everything I need to know about 3D text. I am looking for how to create text for 3D printing. The object must be manifold to print however the convert to mesh makes a non-manifold mess when converted. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thank You!
very cool. the only problem i ran into with the text tool is, that you can only bevel outside from the font and that there is not an option to bevel the interior. this makes every font bolder than it should be. maybe you have a solution for this?
I'd use something like TinkerCAD instead if all you want is to 3D print the text. Try bringing those into Blender if you want to make changes there as the meshes should already be suitable for printing (no voids or tears).
@@Brandon-3D Alright, thanks! Do you know how to change the color of the background and the base? I'm trying to make a logo for my UA-cam channel and I'm new to Blender.
Great tutorial - I got to the part where you add "Material" or "Color" Red - You went too FAST!!!! - FOr someone that already knows how. - I try it. Icon > material > + sign > New > Pick a color an NOTHING!!! - I selected the Text (Object) try again, and nothing... Got stuck there - I really appreciate if you can help me and tell me how I can add a material to my text. Thank you.
Something is wrong with the text tool now. It freezes. Is anyone else having problems? I've been using it since 2017 and when I updated Blender, it freezes now.
blender is so unintuitive. I'm trying to move the bezier curve. I click on the points in edit mode but when i try to click and drag to move it it just brings up a selection tool

For the short key points shift A choose text. at 1:45 he tells you how to extrude the text and then at 6:40 how to convert to mesh.

What would be awesome if you would tell us how to get the text to lay flat like you have it.
Rotate it along the X axis 90 degrees.
Thank you very much.
You’re so welcome. Thank you for the kind comment and the time it took to write. Means a lot to me!
Thank you for this 💯

How do you make the 3d go in to the center of the image to make it look like it is popping out
a little question here, how do i export it bc clearly clicking renderi and exporting from there isn’t a option 😭
How can I stretch out a tail from specific points on some letters?

How do i click tab do i need to write it down? Can u plz do a trick how to do it ? Thank you!~
Tab? It’s the tab button on your keyboard. Sorry if I’m not understanding.
thank you
Thank you!
How would I add the text editor in my properties panel? I don't have it and can't seem to find instructions to add it
Nice video
Thank you so much!!
There is no text icon in my add meny. Is it possible to "hide it" or why is it not there?
How do you flip the text so its standing on the grid rather than lying down?
Rotate it (probably along the X axis). In object mode press “RX90” and it will rotate 90 degrees along the X axis.

how can i export a text i made in blender to capcut video editor ??
How do I add that text to a video?
When I export text as a STL the model has holes and tears in it. Do you know what I can do to fix that?

Hey man..
When i give shift + a ,I can't see text option..
Is there any settings to get the text option..
No settings. But you’ll need to be in object mode to add the text.

Hlo Sir,
Sir text showing from opposite side in camra
Pls suggest
May I ask what version you're using? Or is every version basically the same?
I was probably in 3.1 for that video but to my knowledge not much has changed with text.
