I got a small bottle of the Le 3e homme de Caron in 1984 given to me by my mother in law for my birthday and loved it. I still use it today just in a different bottle. Regards from Australia.
Been wearing this for 30 odd years and its not for everyone. quite hard to get in Australia and reactions to it differ ,women tend to like it on men a lot once settled in possibly because its quite unique? I agree with the harshness when first put on but it settles down within a very short time. you have to give it time to settle into the great fragrance it is but Caron can linger for months in a closet so if you dont like it dont get it on clothing you intend to re wear before cleaning as it may overpower other fragrances as they fade out. I believe many would not purchase Caron because of its initial impression when tested . good review.
I enjoyed your review and I appreciate your comments. I know the scent (casually) and I understand your comments. In 1969 (more or less), I smelled this daily at work, until I asked what it was (Pour un Homme After Shave). So, I am slow. Only took me 50 years to get around to ordering some (actually, no one around here sells it). I specify "after shave" because I found out recently with my Eau Sauvage that the EDT is NOT the cologne is NOT the EDP! For the Caron, I first ordered a sample, and I am convinced it is a fake (smells like 10-year-old barber shop rinse water). So I ordered some of the "airport" glass samples (would anyone counterfeit a $2 item?) of the EDT. For $22, I also ordered the after shave from a "damaged box" place. They have arrived but I have not. They are waiting for me where I am going to visit in the US.
Great review. I dont think I had seen anyone go through the developments of this fragrance before. But just think about how subjective this things (fragrance experiences)are : what you liked the least (the strong lavender opening) is what I like the most about this fragrance. But it is true that the dry down is what makes it such a soothing fragrance.
+A Scent for the Moment - yeah In my first impression vids i try to give practical descriptions for what i smell. The notes may not match what im describing but, the smell might be the same - this fragrance does take a couple of days to really appreciate it. I like it more today than i did yesterday.. thanks for watching/commenting!
I didn’t like One Man Show my first time or 2 using it but after it drys down a few mins it’s a great scent I use several days per week .....I will have this one in my collection in a day or 2 .....I love Clubman after shave so I hope I like Caron too
Bottom line you have to smell it .I'm sure it's good . But I like a more manly cologne for men like polo in the green bottle .I also like drakkar noir too .if it smells like that or ck in the black bottle then I'm in
Hmm I can’t say that it does. The only frag that reminds me of JPG is Reflection Man by Amouage but, I’m sure there’s lots of clones out there. Thanks for watching buddy!
Great to see these types of fragrances being reviewed again. It's very close to Killian for sure , like 95 % similar considering the price comparison as well . I find it very relaxing once it settles Down however my family always say it smells like baby wipes. I think it's a fantastic classic scent. Cheers
+dspada67 im really glad to hear you like this one despite the baby wipe comparison lol i agree its very calming..its a great scent to wear before bed if thats your type of thing. Thanks for watching/commenting!
+Harry Daniels i just sold this bottle. The day i shipped it out i sprayed myself one last time. the dry down is great. The opening is a little harsh but after that dries down its one of the best lavender scents around. You can probably find a cheap bottle on ebay to blind buy buddy - lemmie know how it turns out!
This is one of the classiest scents ever made. The lavender vanilla combo is just amazing . Killians Taste of Heaven is 1,000 times better but I love both .
I'm sorry but you are last person I would want reviewing my fragrance. The hillbilly pronunciation and the backwards hat pulled over your ears. Are you kidding me?
its a French fragance my boss brought to me from Belgium in 1982... since that still use .... l like it !!!!!!

One of my all time favorites

Caron pour homme is one of those fragrances that the sillage is good but up close is a little strong.
I like it. It’s different from what’s out there right now. In my opinion. Great review.

What's the longevity like?
I have a 30 ml of this and enjoy it spring summer. Nice review, have you tried Yatagan by Caron... another classic.
+Seymour Shait ive heard of Yatagan but ive yet to try it, if i see it ill give it a try! Thanks for watching/commenting!
Do you think this is somewhat reminiscent of JPG Le Male?
Hmm I can’t say that it does. The only frag that reminds me of JPG is Reflection Man by Amouage but, I’m sure there’s lots of clones out there. Thanks for watching buddy!
Le mâle de jpg c'est inspiré de ce parfum qui est " pour un homme de caron"

+Faiajur Rahman lemmie know what you think!
Have you acquired the taste of this fragrance since then, has it grown on you? Will you recommend a blind now since it's been 4 months?

greg linear
Play - Doh in a bottle. Just kidding (sort of). It's pretty good stuff.
+Dead Disney haha i havent gotten that yet! The drydown almost smells like cookies to me...im digging it!
I'm wearing it now for a review tomorrow. I can't stand it. The drydown is better, but I can't get over the opening and mid.
very helpful thanks
This is one of the classiest scents ever made. The lavender vanilla combo is just amazing . Killians Taste of Heaven is 1,000 times better but I love both .
Yeah I like the original because it’s just that, the original and it’s very affordable! Thanks for watching buddy!

Too old and dated
I'm sorry but you are last person I would want reviewing my fragrance. The hillbilly pronunciation and the backwards hat pulled over your ears. Are you kidding me?
That's mean. He did a great job.
