Im new and love the show . Great job. Could you talk about the new restrictions about CBI. Regions that are restricted and areas allowed. Im just looking to move and now im out of the coast areas. Bummed
Glad you like our channel! Welcome in 🙏 I’m not sure if we know enough to make a video on CBI as we haven’t done it. But I will put it on the list. Meanwhile check SEFs website about this: imigrante.sef.pt/en/solicitar/residir/art90-a/ Good luck 🤞
My stage 2 SEF Interview was 14 October 2022. I was granted the 2-year residency. She said my card should arrive in the mail in 2-3months time. Do I start counting the two-year period from 14 October? I'm trying to work out the 6 months in a 12 months consecutive period to be in Portugal. I will need to return to South Africa for work by 14 April 2023, Would that fulfil the 6 months consecutive requirement? I will then be outside of Portugal for 6 months and return on 14 October 2023. I'm trying to remain a Tax Resident of South Africa until I'm in the renewal, the 3year Residency cycle, and not be 183 Days of the Portuguese Tax Year (January to December) in Portugal.
Hi Brian There is so many grey areas in this question that from a tax position no one can give you tax advise from that. As I state we cannot give tax advise. We are simply just explaining the broad terms of how things roughly work to our best abilities. What you really need here is a tax expert that can help to advise you that look at your sources of income as well… and whether you qualify for NHR etc.
what about if our income is all from out of country as we both work and generate our income outside of portugal but, We have rental income from our registered AL property in portugal? should we use the NHR at this point? or should we wait until we are living full time in Portugal? currently we are only there during holidays and leave (max 180 days per year) but we are planning on managing our renatal all year through an agency or similar
You could try to be there under the 180 days per year. And try to get NHR later, but they could always remove the program. There is a bunch of complexity in this depending on the type of work you do as well, as well as it also matters where else you spend time. So I would recommend that you seek professional tax advise as we are not capable in providing that :)
Hi, we are planning to move to Portugal from UK with our little girl. We don't speak Portuguese yet and we are a bit worried how we will be able to communicate for begging? Do you struggle with language barrier ever? We are Polish and not sure if English language is enough to communicate there? Many thanks for all the videos, we love it Gabby and Bart
We’ve struggled often but look at our other videos with school and languages. With a humble good attitude there is always a way :) Even if it means Google translate
@@HyggeJourney I have seen that video also, but you didn't expressed about your school you chased. Secondly, I am looking for a Junior school for my non 6 years girl with less English speaking skills. and I haven't decided either we shall be staying Mafra, Sintra or Porto may be.
Thanks for this insightful video. I have a UK company and currently the director and shareholder of the company and I also have another director based in the UK. How much tax and social contribution is estimated in my case if I receive dividends from my UK company.
Here you need tax advise, we are not allowed to provide that. Normally that would be no social security on dividends. Under NHR with NHR approved activity, there probably wound't be any dividends tax in PT from a UK company. However, you need to consult professional advise to get a proper answer :) We are just UA-camrs and business owners, we are not able to provide any tax advise whatsoever :)
This is a little complex. You first need to make sure you qualify for NHR. Then you need to look at how you are earning the money and where you are working from. Here I think you should get a tax expert to advise you. Also in Portugal there is Social Security to pay for, which can be up to 33%. However there is a couple of options; You can consider having your own company. Or you can look into the simplified regime. The advise is very different depending on your earnings. It might be worth paying a little higher tax for less paperwork. But if you are a very high earner it would be the opposite. Also check out the interview we have on our channel with a tax expert on this
Hey, You really need a tax specialist for these cases. It depends on what you call saving... Is the saving an account with your name on it, in another EU country... Relatively easy, just move and maybe declare your wealth... If you have it in stock, now you have to pay 28% tax. If you have it as a company, where you pay dividends from a non black listed company then it's either 0% or 20%. And even within this, there is a lot of "if's"... So do your own research with your circumstances and/or get a tax advisor :-)
I've found your videos hugely informative and really miss seeing them.

@@HyggeJourney I totally understand. Thanks a lot for your input. I appreciate it a lot.
I don't see the link to the tax calculator mentioned in the video 🤷🏼♂
Oppps! Thanks for reminding me, I've added it now. :-)
What tax would I pay as a freelancer staying in Portugal working for the company in Germany? Would it be 0% or 20%?
