I hate that people are saying mumford and sons stripped this song. No they didn't. They're just doing a cover of it IN THEIR OWN STYLE. Alt j and mumford and sons are very different. they're both amazing bands. Not one band did a better job than the other.
Walter White I can't agree... yet ! They're wonderful musicians, but still not so great on live presence. What makes an epic song evolve is live improvisation, feeling the moment, not just recite it like good poetry. I'm waiting hard to see them 5 years away from now for full eargasm.
i love both Alt-J and Mumford and Sons. i love Mumford and Sons' rendition of Tessellate, especially how you can still hear their sound in it.... ughhh.. to die for.
l am not an Alt j 's fun I thing they're a very very interested band and they are really smart persons but The only song of them that really talk to my soul is "Matilda" and maybe I prefer the W. A.'s version! Sorry
there's no way mumford and sons cover this song better than alt-j , they own this song and an awesome wave flows perfectly. mumford and sons do an amazing job though. :)
Both versions of this song are amazing! I love both Alt-J and Mumford and Sons and this one is just as good as the original. Although the original maybe a little better, I still like this version.
"Three guns and one goes off Ones empty, ones not quick enough One burn, one red, one grin Search the graves while the camera spins" Is this a reference to the final scene from The Good, the bad and the Ugly? For anyone who hasn't watched it, basically Blondie, Tuco and Angel are in a three way duel where the last man standing would claim the gold. Blondie shoots Angel and Tuco discovers that his gun wasn't loaded and is humiliated. They then search the graves and find the gold. Seems to fit perfectly with these lyrics.
most likely it is, the band members have talked about movies inspiring a lot of their music. their song Matilda is about a character from Leon: The Professional
I died when i realized my favorite band covered an Alt-J song because two greatness make an incredible cover wow pls dont ever stop making music Alt-J or Mumford & Sons!
At the time this was recorded, Alt-J were still gaining the steam needed to achieve the status they enjoy now. They got a stinging review from Pitchfork, and nobody, including Mumford & Sons seemed to care. Artists should always support each other in this way. Well done.
This cover is so amazing! I adore this song, is something so out of common. Both are one of my favourites bands for sure. It' d be perfect if they collab on a new one. So differente styles, but as well as tallented
Wowwww this cover is absolutely beautiful 💜 i love the original but far out Marcus just made this song for me!!! His voice suits it soo much!!! Love you Mumford and Sons xx
One amazing band, covering another equally talented and yet completely differently band, to create something beautiful. I too prefer the original version, but you cannot deny that what Mumford and Sons did with it is truly fantastic.
This is one of the best covers I've heard of an Alt-J song.
one of? have any others to recommend?
Rasmus Söderström Elle Goulding’s cover is outstanding!
Wolf Alice's

No
Emma louise does a great one as well
His voice suits this song so much!

You're right but Alt-J isn't just an amazing band like m&s. It's the band of the 10's decade.

mumford and sons + alt-j = heaven
No "love" react here, so "thumbs up" will have to suffice.
When you thought the original version was bluesy enough, Mumford go cover it like a boss
I wish they'd gone full on Mumford on this, I'm just waiting for that kick to go four to the floor and Winston to destroy that banjo.
would have been sick..
I thought the same thing!
finaly, I can distinguish the words :D love alt-j, love mumford and sons what a time to be alive
i love both Alt-J and Mumford and Sons. i love Mumford and Sons' rendition of Tessellate, especially how you can still hear their sound in it.... ughhh.. to die for.
I'm a HUGE Mumford fan and, because of this cover, I started listening to Alt-J. I absolutely love both versions and both bands. Δ
Have you heard of FINK? Listen to their songs looking too closely kcrw and also yesterday was hard on all of us.
I love Alt J and I love Mumford and Sons. And I think Mumford and Sons killed this cover.

Sorry
I'm not saying this one is better than the original but it's definitely my favorite of the two.
To be honest I think Mumford and Sons are so underrated. Marcus can see any song and they can sing live which not many good bands/singers can do.
My all-time favourite band covers my favourite band at the moment. No adjectives can describe this brilliance.
Two very different versions of one song, it's not unheard of. I enjoy both.
check out the third version by British singer Ellie Goulding - a different feel but excellent version
BUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNN
I love this! So strange hearing them take on a different style of music but they suit it so well. Mumford and sons never fail. Never.
I've never heard Mumford and Sons but I love Alt-J and this is outstanding!
It's crazy how many artists cover this song! Alt J must be proud.
I love this version.
there's no way mumford and sons cover this song better than alt-j , they own this song and an awesome wave flows perfectly. mumford and sons do an amazing job though. :)
Love Radio 1's live lounge for offering the platform for excellent covers like this one
