Designing Engineer Weapons From Randomly Generated Stats
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2021
- Weapon generators are fun to mess with for a while, but what if we took them further? Engineer has my favorite aesthetic out of all of the classes, so designing weapons for him was a lot of fun to do. All of his gear is a standard gun combined with some random gadgets, so the possibilities you have for him are practically endless. Let me know your name for the last weapon and any other stat suggestions you would give!

I actually really enjoyed the "leak health unless you've been healed or gotten a kill recently" stat for engie. It works considering he's either around dispensers a lot or in the fray as battle engie.
the problem is on that one even when he was under the effect, which he wouldn't be very often, he is still faster then base
Or you know, the giant gun that gets a kill, like, every 2 seconds.
@@evangonzalez7732 the gun gets kills not the engineer
@@literallyglados they still count as engi's kills tho.
They timer should be lowered a bit to like 10-15 secs w/o kill.
Makes it work for non-turtling defensive engies. Like the guy who runs around killing people, but doesn't have the Gunslinger on and keeps in distance of his gun/dispenser to heal himself up....
Would be cool if someone modeled some of these and added them to a custom weapons server. With your perms of course. But as a shotgunning battle engie enjoyer, I'd love to play those boots.
Hello purp odd seeing you here
Hot dang i think battle engine is one of the most fun sub class in the game and no one can changed my mind
Agreed
The boots make the battle engie more viable, but damn would this be busted in TF2 x10 servers
You'd literally have more HP than a standard dalokahs bar heavy
@@silverdededestruction2197 boots with the hand
For the Primary, tagging an enemy should increase the sentry range considering you would be pretty weak when shooting and sentry is just as predictable, this without considering the skill needed to hit your target in order to get any benefits
I also wonder why it gave mini-crits to just the sentry. It would be really nice if it could mark for death to provide direct team support.
Also, *on a headshot* the weapon should temporarily blind your target… if they’re looking in your general direction.
Aside from heavy, Engie is probably the class I to see updated the most. The only real big change he’s gotten is the gunslinger/mini sentry thing, and it’s insane to think that on all the time TF2 has been out, that’s the only change he’s gotten to his PDA. I would love to have stuff like mini dispensers, teleporters and possibly other new buildings aside from variations of the existing ones.
Yes
engineer has a lot of variety, specially compared to heavy. Yeah mini sentries are the only different building, but he also has unlocks like the short circuit, rescue ranger, eureka effect and widowmaker, which are some of the most creative weapons in the game.
not saying new buildings wouldn't be cool, i just think other classes need more work than him.
I feel like medic could also do with an update since he only has 13 weapons and his META loadout is incredibly dominant
Yeah! I would love if I were to be able to build barriers/ramps instead of teleporters so I could help defend the front lines instead of making something that helps you get to the front lines.
Man, I should really write this idea down and actually make a design for it, it was just a shower thought that I had as a kid but it could actually be useful...
Same
I quite enjoyed your ideas in this video but the name "Houston's Solution" is my absolute favorite. That sounds so in-line with TF2 if you told me it was the name of a cosmetic I wouldn't doubt you for a second.
I’m not sure if this was intentional, but the fact that “the Remedial Support” has ‘dial’ in it when a big part of the device is a big ol’ dial is fitting.
Gotta say, I think your art is spot on for the Tf2 artstyle, and I’d love to see all of these in game. I’ve been wanting a single-shot slug type primary for the engineer for years (no, rescue ranger doesn’t count), and having it enhance sentry offensive performance would be a wonderful counterpart to the rescue ranger’s defensive flexibility. Having it uncap the sentry’s range on the target would be beautiful. Place down a mini sentry, and watch as you become a sniper with indirect fire. Finally, a contender for the wrangler!
Jump boots would also be wonderful, I sentry jump a LOT, and though it’s not customary to see engineers in high places, I tend to end up there more often than not and the Houston Solution would accelerate the sentry jump process tremendously, at cost of combat capability in the second slot. Good work!
A Vaccinator-style PDA sounds interesting. Maybe like you can shift power output between your 3 buildings, making one a lot stronger while making the others weaker. It would be able to give the Sentry the ability to slow targets, Dispenser being able to overheal, and Teleporters transporting multiple passengers at once. Debuffs would be Sentry having less firerate, Dispensers having less healing/ammo/metal per second, and the Teleporter having longer recharge.
@@dapperfield595 oooooh i love that idea
@@dapperfield595 This is just one thing I Love about the TF2 Community, Valve hasn't added a Weapon? the Community got ya, Valve isn't adding more Maps? The Community got ya again, and Finally Valve hasn't been Updating the Game in what feels like a Century? the Community got ya.
it even has remedy in it too, Perfect name
I feel the Remedial Support could be called Doc Holiday, like the achievement, then it would be even MORE of a jab!
I never realized that the name of that achievement is a double entendre. Both for the requirements of the achievement and in reference to the famous gunslinger
dunno if you saw it but the initial wrench concept had a cool thing where if you right click you drain ammo from your sentry directly to your metal reserve and honestly that sounds really cool-
that first weapon though, perfect for out of the box sentry and tele spots. hyper mobile engie would be so cool.
mixed with the widowmaker would be pretty cool
my first thought when i saw that was that i could incorporate a stolen sapper and knife, since it takes metal from sentries and deals less damage without a hit on the back
@@pattyg9092 absolutely, and the best part is it encourages widowmakers to actually use their sentries and repair/reload them so they cant stray too far from them.
honestly feels and character for engie to modify himself to be better.
That would be a bit broken to be honest, since sentries have 150 metal worth of ammo. If you build one, then drain 4/5 of the ammo, you'd have 120 metal back and the sentry won't be any less effective.
"The lone star lodestar" could also be made to look like a sharps rifle (a breach loading buffalo rifle with an optical scope as long as its barrel from the wild west era) and called "the sharpshooter"
Putting a scope on would probably be stepping on the sniper's toes, so to speak.
@@hdog9046 it'd work as a nice sniper rifle too. What if it was like the Sydney sleeper but with bleed instead of jarate.

For the boots and gunslinger combo you can just add "does not stack" to either health boost.
Also how did you never think of a cowboy boot for the TEXAN
He already has those as a cosmetic
Make health boost reduced, but still present

Well, Houston IS a city in Texas.
Yeah like make those and then put hydraulics
Minor thing: Oscilloscope. There is no second "i" but it definitely makes it more fun to say, nor is this a very common word outside of "if you know, you know" circles. Second, oscilloscopes aren't quite the same as the medical displays (but, yeah, definitely look similar enough and have a similar-enough function); oscilloscopes display the current voltage value for a signal, or multiple signals. Primarily for seeing how different parts of an electrical circuit is performing over time (when turning on, while idle, powering down, a switch is pulled).
Then the heart rate/vitals monitor is "the above, but specifically for sensors/signals such as measures_heart_rate, measures_blood_pressure, and measures_blood_oxygen" instead of "whatever you can think to connect; such as, but not limited to, lamps, computer displays, "these two tiny alligator clips attached to your left ear," audio/speaker output, and "this large spool of wire that somehow acts as a radio antenna that we connected to the machine.""
Similar to the phrase of "a square is a type of rectangle but a rectangle isn't a type of square."
I think it's better that it's an oscilloscope since it affects a building, so it's not specifically a heart rate monitor.
@@boppertron4929 True. It's definitely a great looking details and matches incredibly well with engineering/robotics. I was just venting that "yes, they look and act very similarly, an oscilloscope is not the medical heart rate monitor."
(Even though this gets covered a few minutes after i paused to write that)
Remedial Support Rename: Medic's Day Off
Slightly better: Doctor's Day Off
24:43 I’d assume that the “Lone Star Lodestar” would make a **FOOM** sound like a grenade launcher when it shoots. Either that or a loud, deep shotgun sound. It just looks like it would be really powerful.
My suggestion for the dispenser PDA is to buff dispensers where their biggest weakness is, they're slow to set up, and require a lot of investment.
So… the gunslinger?
For dispensers? Yes please!! 😭
1- Houston's solution isn't bad, but Houston's Hoppers could also work.
2- Lone Star Lodestar is a tad wordy, perhaps Texas Tracker, idk.
3- I saw someone else, The Smasher, say "Not Dying Machine", which is a funny joke considering Scout tells Engineer to build a Not Dying Machine in one of his domination lines.
"Here's somethin' you should have built: A not dyin' machine!"
"Alrighty then!"
1- Texan's Takeoff?
The Houston's Solution are pretty interesting, it would essentially allow Engineer to sentry jump without the sentry- and, even better, do that without the wrangler and rescue ranger. It might be horribly broken, but it's definitely a fun thought experiment. I would absolutely run it with the gunslinger and the frontier justice.
i would propose a nerf cuz i think its too op: as you can charge your jump there would be a movement penalty according to the charge (ie: small jump -5%speed for 4 secs, big jump -15% speed for 5 secs)
its in the pistol slot so no wrangler
honestly, the boots you made look like they'd be part of a weapon set for the gunslinger
Gotta say, that mid connection at the boots weapon is gonna conflict with animation because seemingly it won't bend in toe area
You are arguing to someone who came up with, an idea for a weapon, a model for the weapon, and a name for the weapon in around about 10 minutes.
@@MrLozone999 I'm not arguing, I'm pointing out. Calm down man

thing about medical stuff with engineer is he and medic are confirmed to do science stuff together lol
I just kinda typed these out as I went through the video:
For the robo-boot, I personally would've called it "Ground Control" but having Houston in the name also really works.
I guess I'm just gonna give you my names for these, the shotgun I'd call the "LodeStar Gunner"
The Remedial Support is funny, so that stays
I want you to continue this series.

It looks like the family business
This looks like a really great loadout! But I think that there should be a stat on the shotgun that it deactivates the minicrit thing if you wrangle your sentry, because the wrangler gives the sentry infinite range and a faster firing speed (as far as I know) so it could be too op. Just make the targetting/minicrit system be disabled if you wrangle the sentry
The remedial support would work well in a century nest with more than one engineer but the ability to not have infinite metal to repair your buildings really handicaps the engineer and also the model for the dispenser on the remedial support would need to be different so players would know it wasn't just a regular dispenser
For the primary, I suggest you make it airblastable and if the slug hits a friendly teammate, they receive sentry damage.
team damage just isn't a thing in tf2, this is a terrible idea.
@@_waymin Well, I just started playing TF2 10 months ago. Looking back on this idea, I do realise how much it sucks.
I think the a good name for the boots would be “the railgun ranger” cus railguns fire metal for their projectile.
Then again it sounds pretty similar to the rescue ranger so maybe something like “the railgun rodeo” that actualy sounds way better, also that would create some really cool design for boots, think of the quick fix backpack coils on the back of each boot with 2 railguns strapped to the side of each of the boots.
That is great, but the whole idea is that they say "Houston, we have a problem" when they're in space... and the boots launch you into the air. Also, Houston's Solution sounds like a way more tf2-y name than the railgun rodeo.
All guns shoot metal
@@butwaithow_9622 🤓
no shit
Since the Lone Star Lodestar has only 1 shot in the clip, I feel it would be better suited as the Relodestar
"Lost PhD PDA" would be a good name for it I think. The story behind it could be that the engineer actually somehow "found" the medical license that medic lost.
Lost PhDA
This has sparked my old inventive/creative side, which means as soon as I find paper and a pencil I’m gonna start making my own things
Didja?
I think the sentry-locking shotgun should fire comical targets on stakes at the enemy. Most TF2 tech tends to be nonsensical and powered by visual comedy so I think it'd fit with the theme
Not calling the lazer sight pointing sentry weapon the "Prime Directive" is such a missed opportunity
a new engineer PDA would be sweet
I think a good name for the PDA would be "The Mechanic's Medicine" or "The Medical Mechanist"
I could see these being really fun to use alongside the Jag, Gunslinger and Eureka effect as a Ninja/Roamer Engi. Really cool!
i tried out this generator and i got a primary for medic that could be really broken if it was added, here's the stats:
+22 max hp
on hit: makes enemies unable to reload weapons for 2 seconds
no random crits
on miss: -12 hp
High risk high reward blutsauger sidegrade
It’s like a stun gun
On miss -12 in a syringe gun is insane
Suicide Gun
pulling the trigger just kills you
23:57 ''load-star'' is a good idea to name this gun
Epic video of engineering, I can't believe you destroyed the super hadron collider!
scout: Ha, im flyin im flyin
engi: (jumps behind you) nothin personal partner
This was one of my favorite series. I really hope you come back to this eventually.
These are my favourite videos of yours and the ones that got me into your channel with the old tier lists, keep them coming mr. heron
You could call the PDA "The Unlicensed Pharmacist". Because it's a dispenser.
These were amazing! It also seems like your art skills are improving.
i like how you say 'this gun is gonna be so long im gonna have to shorten it', which means that you probably dont know how every tf2 merc with shotguns saws off their shotguns
Those boots would be incredible and open up so many possibilities for Engineer, great video!
ngl, those are some pretty good designs for the weapons, very nicely done!
The Engineer boots remind me of a Strong Bad email where he got some new shoes with a lot of lights on them that he had to constantly plug in. XD
Right after you drawn that PDA I immediately got a stat idea about exchanging your already built building into another one replacing the previous, so the Engineer doesn't really have to build a new building seperately, he can use only one for multiple purposes.
I think Houston' solution would be cooler if named as Houston's problem solver, since it's for engineer, the guy that solves problems
I think "the loadstar loader" is a better name for the primary
i personally disagree with the less building health on wearer for the wrench, as losing the ammo and metal gain is already a very large downside as it is, and giving weaker buildings just feels like a bit much to throw into the mix. Otherwise the weapon designs and concepts are pretty good
The ideas you come up with are seriously interesting. I have to applaud your imagination.
Yay! These are my favorite vids from you and todays my B-day. Thanks for the gift!
Your weapon concept for The Lone Star Lodestar, although combersome in name, is really cool. Also, your British humor at 32:10 was priceless.
i love the button and switch, as that could be switching from build to destroy pda, with the button as activation
Imagine, your on hightower, going well, suddenly some engi flies up onto the tower and kills you with a high powered shell, then once your out of spawn he's already got a lv 3 set up and then tags you, all while that's happening he's gaining overheal from his dispenser and immediately shrugs off most attacks
terrifying defense
Does another settlement need my help?
I could totally see the mini sentries checkered pattern on a Dispenser spawned using this PDA, that and change all the ammo bits to look like medical supplies, and the ammo belt changed to look like a length of Gauze or remodel the belt entirely and turn it into an IV drip or something like that.
23:15
I think the shotgun's laser will like aim at the tagged person if they are infront of you or something, then the radio for telling the sentry about the tagged person, and the light for maybe telling you if the tagged affect is still on the shot player.
It's been a while since you did one of these. Might be cool to see one of the five remaining Classes get a shot at these.
I was expecting engineer to have robot feet like his hand
I love the idea that engie is litteraly slowly becoming a robot from cutting off his arm and legs
You should do these videos more often! I love your content btw :)
Just a few thoughts for you.
The shotgun wouldn't need a pump, it's single shot. Break action. Removing it would also do wonders for giving it more unique visual identity compared to the other shotguns.
I think "The Lodestar" is a perfect pun in itself. TF2 has a habit of letting its jokes come across naturally; consider the Gloves of Running Urgently and the Killing Gloves of Boxing. The wordplay is enough on its own, and Lodestar sounds fantastic. Honestly surprised that such a perfect name existed and you found it.
Ah yes, some tape and a laser is high-tech. i love humanity
I got a Shotgun for the Engineer to use: The San Antonio Slug gun. It's a big over-under Double Barreled shotgun, with the gimmick being it fires slug rounds. You get one strong projectile in exchange for only two shots.
for the boot item you could also take design inspiration from the Roboot, an Engineer cosmetic that replaces his left foot with a mechanical one of a similar design to the Gunslinger.
I fell like the Remedial Support should have been a wrench with a vita/ubersaw tube on it to represent how much dispenser overheal you have
1: Love the name! No change needed!
2: You are on point with the names. I would’ve alternatively called it the Tagurret.
3: The Repair Conditioner (I personally would’ve called it that. No offense to this choice in particular.)
2.5: I would’ve called that generated version of 3 Hacker Attacker.
Ngl the "Lone Star Lodestar" fit way more for sniper rifle kinda sci-fi looking, overall all the design looks really nice
Your Brit impression is brilliant, and I can assure you we all thought “haha he said knob on the internet”
I am incredibly high right now and some of these names are blowing my mind dude. Houston's Solution? That shit's sick!
the houstons solution is kinda like a thermal thruster but for engineer. plus it means that you would no longer have to use the wrangler to rocket jump up into cheeky sentry spots
A dispenser that reverses how it’s resources are handed out would be neat.
What I mean is that the normal dispenser gives bursts of ammo/metal, and heals per second.
This idea I have would do the opppsite, give burst healing every second, and slowly dispense ammo/metal.
Wow man those items are just sick,
You would be prety good as a tf2 dev
I just love it
The Engineers that use this set will now be called 'Medineers' with their 'Pocket Sentries'.
*Astronauts:* "Houston, we have a problem. Our ship is falling down!"
*Houston:* "Take this."
/hands no-falldamage boots/
If you think about it. The Remedial Support is a very good idea, as it would be the solution to a team that has very few Medics (I’m talking like two or fewer). It would basically open up its own subclass that I’ll call “Remedial Support Engies”.
That first item with the jump would spawn a gimmick with the mario hat and I'm all for it
I honestly love the idea of a single pellet shotgun that essentially works as the Terraria whip of TF2, it'd reward an engi for careful aim, positioning and sentry placement rather than just pressing 2 on his keyboard
Really love "Houston's Solution", I think that's an incredible name
The Boots:
Plumber's Exo-Boots.
Mostly because the final version with "crouch to charge super-jump" made me think "Super Mario Bros. 2" first, which has that very same mechanic. Ergo, Plumber. And Exo-Boot because it's an exo-skeleton, but only for the boot.
The Shotgun/Rifle:
Tactical Team-Tagger
Slight change into making it a bit more dart/tranq-rifle like (basically a thinner barrel and it's break-open reload). As for the name, it's a more "tactical" choice on who you tag, and it tags the enemy team. Plus who doesn't love some silly alliteration every now and then?
PDA:
Mechanic's Patchjob.
Because "patchjob" can refer to both a quick healing job or a quick and dirty repair job.
Additionally, you were 100% focused on Dispenser - but what about also bringing in the Teleporter? Could be rather simple, like the Teleport gains charges and every time someone teleports with it, they gain some HP (with limited overheal, say 20 or 30 over). Charges would somehow be visible on it, too, for other players to see. Drawback then would be that the Teleporter would on Level 2 and 3 would recharge the teleportation slower to not be a straight upgrade.
Dammit your art is just really good!
The remedial support would be bashed to high hell and back by snipers, I mean you rarely see meds on casual (more than you used to in the past but still) so having suddenly a team that can survive quick 150 headshots consistently would make most of em very mad.
I think the Lone Star Lodestar would be a cool weapon idea, definitely would want to see it in game. 👍
7:45 loved the vid but i would think that like engie dispenser parts would be better for high tech boots

Bonus; Increases ALL building's (and nearby player's) max health, and makes nearby enemies (even cloaked/disguised spies) have an arrow pointing to them when The Remedial Support is deployed. Sentries gain a fourth level, and teleporters take just 0.5 seconds at Level 3. A sandvich is given to any heavys teleporting.
I love those design videos
I love your videos keep up the good work and make more videos every day
The lone Star Lodestar sounds like a fun pester tool for a hidden mini sentry
Blue: mispronounces oscilloscope and calls it a heart monitor.
Me: *Cries in electrical engineering*
6:08 My thought for the design could be like cowboy boots but the horse spurs on the back of them are replaced by some kind of high-tech spring or jet in a similar vein to the Long-Fall Boots.
**When he calls the sling a strap**
Also, I think that a Battery on the opposite side of the stock for Lone Star would match the overall aesthetic along with giving it a power source. I think that a front sight bead would also just make tie the entire weapon together as well.
(P.S The Remedial Support is in desperate need of an antenna. Thanks!)
The houston's solution could've called back to the TFC Engineer from the comics, since he already comes with robotic legs
